Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Dr. Chad Hoge received his bachelors degree in biology from Jamestown College in 2001 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2005.

While in dental school, Dr. Chad completed an externship on a North Dakota Native American reservation and spent a great deal of time on pediatric dental treatment for the area children. This sparked a genuine interest in the field, and prompted him to continue his education at The Ohio State University-Nationwide Childrens Hospital. He completed a two-year pediatric dental residency while also earning a masters degree in 2007.

Dr. Chad is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, North Dakota Dental Association, and Southeast District Dental Society. In 2007, Dr. Chad received the Pugh Award, which is awarded to pediatric dentists who score in the top 3 percent on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry written exam.

Dr. Chads greatest rewards in practice are communicating with children to make their dental experiences as positive as possible, and helping to educate parents about their childrens current and future oral health care needs.

Dr. Chad is a self-proclaimed sports nut and enjoys attending college and professional sporting events, playing golf, and reading. His favorite sports teams are the Los Angeles Lakers, St. Louis Rams, Nebraska Cornhuskers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Dr. Chad and his wife, Mikala, have two beautiful daughters.

Dr. Mikala Hoge is a Lincoln, Nebraska native who, along with her husband Chad, specializes in pediatric dentistry. She earned her bachelors degree in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2005. She practiced general dentistry for four years before deciding to pursue a specialty degree in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Mikala always knew she eventually wanted to specialize in a particular field of dentistry. After she saw how much Dr. Chad enjoyed practicing, she decided to further her education in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. She attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Omaha Childrens Hospital and from day one, she enjoyed the challenges and rewards of the specialty. She completed her two-year pediatric dental residency in 2011.

Dr. Mikala is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the North Dakota Dental Association, and the Southeast District Dental Society.

In her private practice, Dr. Mikala enjoys helping fearful children overcome their hesitations by showing them that a trip to the dentist can be fun. This success arises from establishing relationships with children and building trust.

Dr. Tyler Johnson was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. He received his degree in biology from North Dakota State University in 2012 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2017.

Throughout his upbringing, Dr. Tyler was involved with wrestling and youth coaching. He enjoyed seeing the positive impact he could make in a childs life at an impressionable age. This is what sparked his interest in pursuing pediatric dentistry as a career. Following dental school, Dr. Tyler completed a two-year pediatric dental residency in 2019 through the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Omaha Childrens Hospital.

Dr. Tyler is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, and North Dakota Dental Association. He is in process of pursuing board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Tyler is married to his high school sweetheart, Ciara, who is an OB/GYN in the Grand Forks area. Their oldest daughter, Landry, and son, Rafe were both born Nebraska Cornhuskers. They recently welcomed a North Dakota born daughter, Scout! In his free time, Dr. Tyler enjoys spending time outside with his family and hunting dog, Rhett. Additionally, he would be happy to share his tips on how to win radio prizes or ping pong tournaments. The Johnson family is excited to become integrated into the Grand Forks community!

My kids have been patients for 7+ years. In August, their 6th month appt was canceled with a 3 day notice. We were assured the insurance issue would resolve in 4-6 weeks as it had happened before. Today I received the call that my kids were no longer going to be accepted as patients due to this insurance issue (others unpaid claims) we have never had an outstanding or unpaid balance. It was made very clear that my concerns were irrelevant. I am extremely disappointed with how this whole situation as been handled.

After being patients at the Fargo office for 5 years my family moved to Grand Forks recently and we decided to continue care with Dakota Pediatric Dentistry. The care provided by all staff members is second to none. Dr. Tyler was caring and attentive to my children's needs and answered all my questions. The front office girls were on top of my insurance and was able to explain how it works. And the dental assistant Lori is truly the best! As we left the kids got a coin to pick a prize and we got pictures by the No cavity club wall. Thank you for continuing to make our experience a positive one!! So lucky to have quality care in Grand Forks!!

I originally gave a 4 start review but after my experience today I had to change it. Firstly, I originally had my sons appointment in advance and they called me and told me they had to drop him at this time because they are not seeing patients with his insurance. I explained he had two types of insurance but is now only covered by my work insurance. She told me they still couldn't see him so I was quite upset because I didn't understand why? She then explained he actually could be seen so I just let it go. This already had me a little upset with them. So I go today, he has his appointment, and I learn my work insurance is not in network after the appointment is over. I was unaware of this; as every time I brought my son I NEVER had to pay out of pocket. Now I understand that at the time he had both insurance types, between the two, all cost were covered. If I would have known our insurance wasn't in newtwork I wouldn't have brought him in today and I would have changed his dentist. So I had to pay for a cleaning because no one said anything to me. Yes, I understand it's my responsibility to know but it would be nice if the staff had mentioned it out of care for a patient, but nope ... they just come off as being money hungry. To add to my frustration , as soon as I left I switched my son to my dentist but they need the most current x-rays so I tried calling them and all I kept (and still keep) getting is the voicemail ... Over and over. It's just so unprofessional and that behavior makes it seem as though they don't care about their patients.

I brought my one year old in for her first dental appointment. The staff was great. I got some excellent information about caring for her teeth, and all of my questions were answered. We'll be back in six months!

My kids have been seeing Dakota Pediatric for the last 4-5 years now and their smiles have never been better. We weren't getting the care we had hoped from a previous dentist and transferring care here validated our concerns. These guys are great. They work so well with the orthodontist in town and we couldn't be happier.

I wasn't expecting much with my 3 and 1/2-year-old... screaming yelling...I thought for sure it was gonna happen. It didn't!! It was absolutely amazing, the staff the doctor, the whole experience was wonderful. Being a mom of a special needs child is a struggle, with every activity we do. I never thought the dentist, would be easy. Right away I felt welcomed and they didn't care he was everywhere he wasn't supposed to be. The doctor came out with another patients mom, and My son immediately wanted to hug him, and he welcomed him with open arms. Anybody that has a child with special needs or not, Dakota Pediatric Dentistry went above and beyond the call of duty for me. I'm sure they'll do the same for you. We'll go nowhere else from now on. I appreciate the kindness and how patient they were with my son. It humbles me to know that people care as much as they do. Thank you so much for the most wonderful experience.

I really like that they try to have the kids go back to appointments on their own. The staff were very helpful and kind. If I could give 10 stars I definitely would.

I brought my 2 daughters (6 and 4 years old), and my oldest has autism. The staff was great and the hygienist Jenna was great with them! They were able to get xrays, full cleaning and the doctor thoroughly explained what the plan was going forward. They have tvs on the ceiling for the kiddos and prizes afterwards! If you have a kid who's nervous about the dentists this is the place to bring them, they will be well taken care of!

Our experience at Dakota Pediatric Dentistry has been fantastic. They schedule all of our kids appointments together, explain in great detail any tooth concerns, and always greet us with a smile. I highly recommend brining your children to them. Dr. Tyler, Dr. Chad, and their staff are great.

Can't recommend somewhere that won't even let you make an appointment.. been calling and trying to get my child seen here for at least a year. They say they're not taking new patients with her insurance 'at this time.' So, I did a bit of an experiment and my mom called to see if they'll take my sister as a new patient and no issues, they were happy to schedule her! And yes, you guessed it, same exact insurance. Not sure what sort of discrimination is happening here but can't give them business if they won't take it.

My child had a bad experience with a dentist prior to visiting Dakota Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Tyler made him feel comfortable with Dentists again. The atmosphere is so inviting and gets kids comfortable right off the Bat.
