Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Dr. Chad Hoge received his bachelors degree in biology from Jamestown College in 2001 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2005.

While in dental school, Dr. Chad completed an externship on a North Dakota Native American reservation and spent a great deal of time on pediatric dental treatment for the area children. This sparked a genuine interest in the field, and prompted him to continue his education at The Ohio State University-Nationwide Childrens Hospital. He completed a two-year pediatric dental residency while also earning a masters degree in 2007.

Dr. Chad is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, North Dakota Dental Association, and Southeast District Dental Society. In 2007, Dr. Chad received the Pugh Award, which is awarded to pediatric dentists who score in the top 3 percent on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry written exam.

Dr. Chads greatest rewards in practice are communicating with children to make their dental experiences as positive as possible, and helping to educate parents about their childrens current and future oral health care needs.

Dr. Chad is a self-proclaimed sports nut and enjoys attending college and professional sporting events, playing golf, and reading. His favorite sports teams are the Los Angeles Lakers, St. Louis Rams, Nebraska Cornhuskers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Dr. Chad and his wife, Mikala, have two beautiful daughters.

Dr. Mikala Hoge is a Lincoln, Nebraska native who, along with her husband Chad, specializes in pediatric dentistry. She earned her bachelors degree in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2005. She practiced general dentistry for four years before deciding to pursue a specialty degree in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Mikala always knew she eventually wanted to specialize in a particular field of dentistry. After she saw how much Dr. Chad enjoyed practicing, she decided to further her education in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. She attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Omaha Childrens Hospital and from day one, she enjoyed the challenges and rewards of the specialty. She completed her two-year pediatric dental residency in 2011.

Dr. Mikala is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the North Dakota Dental Association, and the Southeast District Dental Society.

In her private practice, Dr. Mikala enjoys helping fearful children overcome their hesitations by showing them that a trip to the dentist can be fun. This success arises from establishing relationships with children and building trust.

Dr. Tyler Johnson was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. He received his degree in biology from North Dakota State University in 2012 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 2017.

Throughout his upbringing, Dr. Tyler was involved with wrestling and youth coaching. He enjoyed seeing the positive impact he could make in a childs life at an impressionable age. This is what sparked his interest in pursuing pediatric dentistry as a career. Following dental school, Dr. Tyler completed a two-year pediatric dental residency in 2019 through the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Omaha Childrens Hospital.

Dr. Tyler is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, and North Dakota Dental Association. He is in process of pursuing board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Tyler is married to his high school sweetheart, Ciara, who is an OB/GYN in the Grand Forks area. Their oldest daughter, Landry, and son, Rafe were both born Nebraska Cornhuskers. They recently welcomed a North Dakota born daughter, Scout! In his free time, Dr. Tyler enjoys spending time outside with his family and hunting dog, Rhett. Additionally, he would be happy to share his tips on how to win radio prizes or ping pong tournaments. The Johnson family is excited to become integrated into the Grand Forks community!

Both my kids have been going here since they both were old enough to see a dentist, my son for 11 yrs and my daughter for 8 yrs. Started off great, then continuously went down hill year after year!!! CANCELLED appointment after CANCELLED appointment! They cancel, reschedule 3-5 months later and say that's their first opening! Then time comes for your appointment and they pull the same " sorry the dr is going to be out of the office that day". After 3 yrs of continuously cancelling appointments, we are done! Drs are nice, building is nice, but I honestly wonder if they even know their front desk is doing this to people. I've talked to other people and have heard they have the same issues. Even had our orthodontist tell me he's heard the same complaint from others.

My children saw Dr. Mikala for 5 years until we recently moved to Grand Forks where we now see Dr. Tyler. While we were patients of Dr. Mikala (we also saw Dr. Chad too), my children went from afraid of the dentist to excited to get their teeth cleaned and get the prize at the end. I am glad we chose this office when we were looking and am so happy I was able to continue you with the same office after our move!

We had an amazing experience at Dakota Pediatric dentistry. The staff at the desk and everyone we encountered was so kind to my daughter and myself. They were very patient and took the time to show us around and make sure she was comfortable before taking her back for her cleaning. I would highly recommend them for your child's dental care!

We have always had a great experience at Dakota Pediatric Dentistry but our visit in 8/17/22 was amazing. Big shout out to Kasey the technician my kids had today was so wonderful and really connected with my 3 year old who was terrified 6 months ago at her last visit. Kasey made my daughter so comfortable she didn't even want me to go with to do her xrays. I hope we get her in the future. We love Dr. Chad as well.

I don't often leave reviews as I am self-aware that I am likely more critical than most people, especially when it comes to products or services for my kids. This said, I would like to give two thumbs up and 5 stars to the team at Dakota Pediatric Dentistry--they understand kids. My two preschoolers hadn't yet been to the dentist (because of Covid) and had worked up a pretty solid fear of dentists in general. Despite this predisposition, they left their first visit, with Dr. Mikala and team, having had a check up, cleaning, and x-rays... and, believe it or not, they had some fun. Dakota Pediatric Dentistry has it figured out--it's all in the pace. So often these days, places tend to rush clients and customers. Here, they took the time to acclimate my kids, explain processes and information, establish a level of comfort, and even offered the kids small rewards to incentivize them to participate and cooperate. All this plus efficient scheduling logistics and all around knowledgeable and kind employees. You can stop your search now, bring your kids to this dentist.

Great experience with each visit. Caring staff and dentists. I felt they were very attentive to my sons needs, and communicated very well throughout the whole process.

Although the dentist did a good job with my kid's teeth, they weren't considerate of families who want to be with their kids. I wanted to go back with my kid to his appointment and they told me I couldn't. I also saw another mother whose son was crying because he had to go to the back room alone too. It's that kind of thing that doesn't sit right with me so we won't be returning.
