Dr. Walker comes to us all the way from the south/east coast (don 't be surprised if you hear him saying 'ya 'll' more often than 'uffda'!). He grew up in Virginia and graduated from dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 with a scholarship with the United States Air Force. From there he moved to Colorado Springs, CO to attend a year of Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the US Air Force Academy. After working as a dentist in North Carolina for 6 years, Dr. Walker was accepted into Washington Hospital Center 's orthodontic residency program, which he graduated from in 2019. His professional interests focus on orthognathic surgical cases, particularly cleft lip and cleft palate patients, which he was able to gain experience in due to Washington Hospital Center 's association with the adjacent Childrens National Hospital.
During his residency, Dr. Walker learned an innovative orthodontic philosophy known as the 6Elements of Orofacial Harmony; pioneered By Dr. Larry Andrews, one of the worlds foremost Orthodontists. 6Elements is a comprehensive approach to orthodontic diagnosis that creates harmony and balance between your teeth, jaws, airway, and face. This means Dr. Walker can go beyond just straightening teeth and bite correction, because he understands how the jaws should be positioned for improved health, comfort, and esthetics.
In his spare time, Dr. Walker cycles outdoors as much as he possibly can (which is definitely limited in this crazy climate!), a passion he shares with his oldest son. He also loves hunting, fishing, sports, and spending time with his wife and 3 children. A fun fact about Dr. Walker is that he has broken his leg on a skateboard!!

We started my daughter's treatment under Smiles, Inc with Dr. Nuveen and stayed with Dr. Walker as he transitioned to Dakota Orthodontics. We're so glad we stuck with him. My daughter's treatment is in the final months and so happy with the results, and Dr. Walker's strive for the perfect smile! Dakota Ortho is the perfect mix of service and family.

If Dr. Walker is the owner of this place I will not go there.. I went there back when I first came to Fargo and he gave me a bad vibe.. I agree that he should reset his reviews to give better perspective of what you may expect with him as the primary Doctor. Dr. Nuveen was very caring but Dr Walker just simply again gave me a bad vibe and didn't be a help. I am back in Fargo and looking for a new Ortho, I saw this but once I saw that it was changed amd he's now the primary owner I will stay clear away from here.

Finally someone else was thinking my exact thoughts, and Dr. Walkers response to the previous review is exactly why no one is pulling him aside. When Dr. Nuveen had Smiles Inc things ran so smoothly and efficiently. My child was cared for with Dr. Nuveen and his team. They always knew what they were doing and my child would always walk out with a smile. Ever since the switch happened, and seeing how many staff members are left, is very unfortunate. There is currently only 1 staff member that has stayed with Dr. Walker. Olivia is a hard worker and great at her job. The "new" team member is Dr. Walkers wife, Rebecca. There website is super condescending acting as if Rebecca isn't Dr. Walkers wife. Rebecca works as the office manager and has been extremely rude and unprofessional. If you pay close attention, you will see how inappropriate there behavior is when it comes to running a professional business. There has been couple times when their kid is in the office while Dr. Walker and Rebecca are seeing patients! This is not okay. The whole place is more chaotic than professional these days. All these positive reviews are from Dr. Nuveens old office Smiles Inc, but now that Dr. Walker has taken over, it has all gone down hill. This place is VERY unprofessional and sketchy, would not be going here for orthodontic care again.

My parents chose my orthodontist as a teen and based on the limited convenient options in the area. As an adult, I found myself needing an orthodontist again, so I set up an appointment with the closest one. I left that consultation feeling like I went through an assembly line and decided to keep looking until I found someone who would communicate effectively, address my concerns, and practice modern/high quality medicine. Dr. Walker met all my criteria. He genuinely cares about the best outcome for each patient and took the time to hear and understand my concerns before he created a plan for my individual needs. We shared the same goal of addressing the root cause of my issues and hopefully preventing the need for braces a third time. Through this process I've realized that an orthodontic plan is an investment in future oral health and that not all orthodontists are created equal. Dr. Walker is the type of orthodontist I trust for myself and who I would want treating my children.
