Dr. Tim Kappenman was born and raised in Sioux Falls, where he attended Augustana College for his undergraduate studies. Continuing the family legacy, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, graduating with his brother, Jay. Upon graduation he moved back to Sioux Falls to join his father and sister in the practice. Together they grew the practice into what it is today.
Dr. Tim is married to Jeanne, who spends her days volunteering and as a full time mom to their four children. They are enjoying this time as empty nesters and plan to excel intheir new role as grandparents. Dr. Tim spends his free time hunting, flying and watching his birds at the lake cabin. He has volunteered his time at Creightons Dental School as a volunteer instructor in the sophomore operative laboratory and oral surgery clinic.
Dr. Tims dental passions lie in complicated oral surgeries and orthodontics. It is fun for the whole office to see the finished products of multi-year long ortho patients; and is something that is celebrated by the patient and staff as a whole. Dr. Tim sees patients of all ages, but especially excels in the complicated surgery cases that come through our doors.
Dr. Schuler joined the practice in 2005, making Dakota Dental a three-generation practice. She received both her undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society in Dentistry. Dr. Schuler currently serves as the dental department chair at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Dr. Schuler lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Eric, and two children, Ava and Zachary. The Schuler home life is busy, the family loves lazy weekends at Lake Okoboji, playing outside and entertaining friends out at the pool.
Dr. Schuler has enjoyed getting to know the many faces that come through our doors, and, has really found her passion for the practice in the younger generations. She excels in caring for kids as young as 1. As an experienced mother of young children, Dr. Schuler cares for the children of Dakota Dental as if they are her own. Besides being our go-to caregiver for our young patients, when needed, Dr. Schuler takes patients of all ages to the Avera Surgical Center. This has provided our patients with an option for quality dental care, when extenuating circumstances make dental care otherwise impossible, and is a wonderful option for disabled patients.
Dr. Samantha Kappenman was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended OGorman High School and then moved on to study finance and biology at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She stayed at Creighton to earn her doctor of dental surgery. She is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society in Dentistry and the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society. Dr. Kappenman joined the practice in 2018.
In her free time, Dr. Kappenman enjoys spending time at the lake partaking in the sun, boating, and watersports. She also enjoys reading and cooking and is always looking for suggestions for her next book.
I graduate from USD in 1990, and I have been with Dakota Dental since 1990. I enjoy my patients and getting to know them. Outside of Dakota Dental, I enjoy quilting, reading, gardening, and organizing.
I graduated from USD in 1978, and I have been with Dakota Dental since 1978. Being able to develop relationships with patients has been my favorite part of working at Dakota Dental. In my free time, I spend time attending sporting events with my husband and being with my grandchildren.
I graduated from USD in 2011 and have been with Dakota Dental since 2015. I really enjoy getting to know and forming long term relationships with my patients. Outside of Dakota Dental I spend time with my many dogs and family.
I graduated from USD in 2018 and have been with Dakota dental ever since. My coworkers and patients make this feel like less of a job and more of a home. In my free time I enjoy traveling, being at the lake, and most importantly being with family and friends.
I graduated from USD in 2017 and have been with Dakota Dental ever since. I really enjoy the relationships I am able to build with patients and I love the people I work with! In my spare time, I like to travel and spend time outdoors with my husband and dog.
I graduated from Lake Area Tech in 2011, and I have been with Dakota Dental since 2011 and assist Dr. Tim. I love what I do and those that I work with. My favorite past time is relaxing and spending time with friends and family. I will never turn down an ice cream treat.
I graduated from CTU in 2006 and completed the Expanded Function Dental Assistant course in 2018, and I have been with Dakota Dental since 2012. I enjoy working with the staff and the fun atmosphere. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and being outdoors.
I graduated from Minnesota West in 1999, and I have been with Dakota Dental since 1999. The relationships I have built with our patients while assisting Dr. Rola, and now Dr. Schuler, is my favorite part of the job. I love spending time with my husband and kids.
I graduated from Lake Area Tech in 2016 as a registered dental assistant and started at Dakota Dental. Then continued my education and became a certified dental assistant in 2018 and assist Dr. Kappenman. My favorite part about Dakota Dental is the upbeat, energetic, and encouraging atmosphere making it a pleasure to be here every day. I enjoy watching a smile transform with cosmetic dentistry and helping patients through their anxieties of coming to the dentist. In my free time I like to binge watch Netflix or Hulu, play at the park with my son, and spend time with friends and family.
I completed the Assist To Succeed in Sioux Falls in 2018 and joined Dakota Dental the same year. I love working with everyone here and in my spare time my husband I like to be outside with our two dogs.
I graduated from Western Iowa Tech in 2018 and recently joined the Dakota Dental Family! Im originally form Iowa, however, Sioux Falls is my new home. The connections Ive already made with my coworkers and patients has been the best part of joining Dakota Dental! In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family.

As someone that has had horrid experiences with a dentist before they helped make me feel at ease with explaining things. Had a tooth extracted today and they did an amazing job making sure I was comfortable and felt next to nothing when they removed it. It's been 6 hrs afterwards and pain is very minimal. The ladies gave me great tips and advice for aftercare. Glad I found their office! I will keep them as my dental providers while I live in the area for myself and kids!

Extremely disappointed! I've been going to Dakota Dental (Dr. Rola) since a young child and all through my 30's up until Dr. Schuler took over and denied service to me over a $125.00 bill that was outstanding but was paid in full over a year ago. I can not imagine that Dr. Rola would have wanted anything to do with this denial of service. Will not recommend to anyone any longer. My job requires me to relocate to different parts of the country on a regular basis and this $125.00 bill slipped through the cracks when I changed addresses, however; it was paid in full as soon as I was notified that I had an outstanding bill several months later. I left several messages with Dr. Schuler to discuss the matter only to be ignored. Very disappointing...

Going to the dentist is never something anyone looks forward to but, the staff at Dakota Dental is the best there is. They are always friendly and super helpful. I had an implant put in and they took the time to make sure it was perfect. From fit to color they went above and beyond which seems to be their standard. I have seen every doctor there and would recommend any of them. I cannot say enough about the staff as a whole.

All the staff at Dakota Dental are extremely friendly and professional. From the receptionist to the hygienists to the dentists you feel welcomed and well taken care of. I love that I am able to schedule cleanings with my favorite hygienist. The dentists are wonderful and I feel confident that they give me sound advice and don't recommend unnecessary procedures.
