BEYOND EXCELLENT!!! I would give Dr. Grace, Connie and Betty 1,000 'S!! All are welcoming, warm, kind, caring, friendly, polite & professional! Each are excellent at their profession and together they work amazingly!! Prior to my dentist referring me to Dr. Grace, I had never even heard of a Periodontist, much less gum surgery?!! And I was petrified ! After my consultation, examination and diagnosis - telling me and explaining that my gums on both upper insides of mouth were too thick, interfering with my bite, my crowns and needed to be thinned - I will admit I was still a bit scared, but now understood why and exactly what needed to be done. They all made me feel soooo comfortable and also put my mind at ease. I had the surgery done a couple of weeks ago and honestly- it was absolutely PAINLESS! Prior to surgery I started antibiotics(as Dr. Grace prescribed, as a precaution to prevent any infection. Also, prior to surgery I took 4 Advil and 2 Extra Strength Tylenol, to get ahead of the expected pain. I drove myself to and from surgery. Once home I iced my mouth for about 15 minutes, twice an hour for 2 - 3 hours, then repeated the 4 Advil and 2 Extra Strength Tylenol-only one more time. Honestly, I had absolutely no discomfort, swelling or pain!!! I was soooo very pleasantly surprised! The worst part was having to live on mashed potatoes and pudding for about a week! A week later I had the stitches removed, again- absolutely painless! And yesterday I had my final follow up and told my gums healing beautifully! And I can actually feel the difference in my bite and my mouth- oh soooo much better!! If you need a periodontist - look no further!! DOCTOR GRACE DAI is the BEST!!! I will be forever grateful & cannot thank all of you enough!!

I'm normally against writing reviews but I'm making an exception here. Today, I had a consult with Dr. Dai. She was 40 minutes late to the appointment. No problem. My girlfriend came with me to the appointment and decided to accompany me for the exam. Dr. Dai asked my girlfriend what she does for work. She is a cashier. Dr. Dai said (actual quote) -- "Oh so you're with him for the money! What do they call you? A cougar!" My girlfriend has a rare disease and is disabled. She's actually pretty thrilled with being a cashier and has a lot of fun with it. Then the conversation progressed to what school I went to. I worked on a PhD but didn't finish. Dr. Dai told me I should have finished. OK. Flossing was discussed. I floss daily. I communicated this. Dr. Dai asked if I thought she was "putting plaque in my mouth" and if I really took care of my teeth, they'd be cleaner. I must confess, sadly, I hadn't flossed in 3-4 days. Last week, I had a bad permanent crown removed. This morning, I had a root canal. At Dr. Dai's office, I was having a consult for perio surgery. With the nonstop train of dentists running through my mouth, I've been a bit depressed and let up on that. OK. I expressed my frustration that I didn't know what more to do to care for my teeth. I use prescription toothpaste twice a day, an electric toothbrush, floss daily, and rinse with listerine twice a day. I've tried water pik and have had my 4 cleanings on-time in the last 2 years. I seriously ask for flossing and brushing lessons from every dentist I see. Dr. Dai responded to this by asking if she was allowed to speak, poking her finger into my chest and saying "have a little humility in your heart and try to listen to the professionals". I'm taking an antibiotic after my root canal. Dr. Dai told me to only take half the prescription, then start taking the rest a few days before my surgery. I'm no doctor (clearly, see above), but I don't that that's how antibiotics work. At this point, I asked her to put my temporary crown back in so I could leave. She still, somehow, believed I was going to let her do the surgery. I've spent the rest of the day wondering whether I'd done something wrong or offended her in some way. In summary, I paid Dr. Dai $115 for the privilege of having her insult my girlfriend and I for 30 minutes. I will be getting the $1500 surgery from another provider. This was a surreal experience.
