Dr. Ann Pomeranz was born in Annapolis, Maryland. She grew up in Okeechobee, Florida and then attended the University of Florida where she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology. Dr. Pomeranz went on receive her Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University Of Florida College Of Dentistry. Upon completion of this degree she attended Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY where she furthered her studies in Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction.

Dr. Pomeranz spent 15 years in partnership with Dr. Brian Decker helping create a family atmosphere while offering quality dental treatment to our wonderful patients. When Dr. Decker retired in 2018, she took over as sole owner of D&P Dentistry and has continued the practices goals and philosophies of providing comprehensive dental care in a friendly and professional manner in a state of the art facility.

Dr. Pomeranz stays very involved in organized Dentistry and in her community. She is a member of Psi Omega Dental Service organization, Alachua Dental Association, and both Florida and American Dental Associations.

Dr. Pomeranz is happily married to Dr. Jamie Pomeranz, Associate Professor in the College of Public Health and Health professions at the University of Florida. They are raising three wonderful children who are very active in their extracurricular activities. Dr. Pomeranz loves spending with her family, going to the beach, a night out at the movies, and attending Gator sporting events.

Dr. Chris Williams is a native of the sunshine state. He grew up in West Palm and graduated from the University of Florida with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Human Nutrition before pursuing his dental education at the University Of Florida College Of Dentistry.

Upon receiving his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry he received the UFCD Professional and Clinical Excellence Award. After graduation he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate program at the University Of North Carolina College Of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Dr. Williams has practiced the last few years in the Villages and also worked on Fridays in an implant center in Ocala. He has experience and a keen interest in implant placement and restoration. Dr. Williams is a member of both the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association.

Dr. Williams is a sports fanatic and a lover of all foods. He enjoys giving back to the community and is committed to using his skills to help others. In January 2020 he married Gabrielle Tom, she is currently studying at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is enjoying being a part of the D&P team and looks forward to long lasting relationships with his patients while providing the upmost care.

We are happy to report that we are able to start the process of a soft reopening as of May 11th. However, there will be many policy changes made within the office that will be utilized at least for the first several weeks of as we adapt to these uncertain times. We will be seeing patients at half capacity in order to practice optimum infection control, social distancing and also to control the burn rate of our personal protective equipment as it will still not be readily available in the future.

While some things seem so different we hope you find comfort knowing that at we are taking all necessary steps to protect our patients and staff. Under all the masks and face shields the same familiar faces you are used to seeing will be taking care of you!

Persistent dry mouth can cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, including cracked lips, a sore throat, and a feeling of stickiness. Decreased saliva can also lead to frequent thirst and mouth sores.

Without sufficient saliva, normal daily activities can be more difficult. You may struggle to speak due to a hoarse voice or need to drink water frequently in order to swallow. Many individuals with dry mouth also have a decreased sense of taste.

Smoking and chewing tobacco can affect the amount of saliva you produce and exacerbate dry mouth. Regularly breathing with your mouth open can also contribute to dry mouth symptoms. Individuals with seasonal allergies or other conditions that limit their ability to breathe through their nose may suffer with frequent dry mouth as well.

Dry mouth is a common side effect of hundreds of prescription and over-the-counter medications, including antidepressants, antihistamines, and pain relievers. Some cancer therapies can also affect saliva.

Decreased salivationis also associated with health conditions. Nerve damage in the head or neck can affect salivary glands. Dry mouth can also result from diabetes, Alzheimers disease, and certain autoimmune disorders.

Discussing your symptoms and medical history with your dentist is the best way to determine if your dry mouth is serious. They can review the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications, and examine your mouth for signs of serious issues.

There are a variety of products available to lubricate the inside of your mouth. Your dentist may recommend a prescription or over-the-counter mouthwash designed for dry mouth, artificial saliva, or a moisturizer.
