Dr. Cynthia M. Southern has been involved in dentistry most of her life. Our dental practice was opened by her father, Dr. Donald Martin, in 1975. Dr. Southern graduated from The College of William and Mary and the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, she has actively practiced dentistry for over twenty years.
Dr. Southern is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and is past president of the Southwest Virginia Dental Society. She is generous with her time and gifts to support both professional and community organizations.
She most enjoys spending time with her 7 very active grandchildren (3 of which are Dr Southerns children).Sandy loves all things Halloween and spends lots of time and energy planning a yearly Spooky Trail for all the office and neighborhood kids!
Brenda has been with our office since the very beginning. She is the widow of Dr Donald Martin, founder of this family practice and Dr Southerns mother. Brenda, along with Dr Martin and now Dr Southern, has strived to provide the best care for our patients since 1975. She is very active and passionate about the overall health of herself and others!
Debbie has worked in most areas of our office and now primarily assists Dr Southern with all things restorative. She started here with Dr Cindys father, Dr Martin, and continues to excel and hone her skills.
You will recognize Don right away either in the office or on the phone as the only man on staff. Bless his heart! This fact alone must speak for his patience and character. He also now handles all things concerning insurance and scheduling.He is Dr Southerns husband and, with 10 female coworkers, probably has a longer list of honey-dos than any man in history.
Primarily, Don is our lab technician. He constructs our beautiful same-day crowns, bleach trays, retainers, occlusal guards, surgical stents, etc. If you have inquiries about our same-day crowns or any other lab-assisted procedures he can help you. Any questions about fishing, soccer, or Virginia Tech football should also be directed to Don!
Shes crazy in love with her husband, Jim and their 3 children: Grayson, Mahlon and Ily. Shes an active follower of Jesus and feels blessed to be part of our team. Kellie enjoys the outdoors with her family and friends and she admits to being a Pinterest addict!
Cailyn isfrom Bland County and loves all things having to do with their family farm!. She primarily assists on the preventive side of the office. She fits right in with her strong work ethic and love of patient care! She loves family and that includes her 2 sweet dogs. She spends a lot of time outdoors and riding her dirt bike when shes not making our office cheerier.
Ashley is a Wythe County native. She attended Wytheville Community Collegewhere she received her dental hygiene degree in 2012. She loves beingoutdoors and her small farm life. She has a son Brady who is 12 and quitethe athlete. He wrestles and plays football for Christiansburg. Ashleypreviously served as a correctional officer for the Virginia Department ofCorrections and as an armed guard for Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Ashleyand Brady enjoy their miniature Dachunds Chloe and Charlie, and their catLuna.
Mackenzie is our newest hygiene assistant and is from Dublin. She enjoys being outdoors, hanging out with her family and traveling when she can. Mackenzie has her Cosmetology License and loves doing hair and make up for weddings and special events.
Laura has been helping women and men with their skin care needs for over 20 years. She is licensed and has many advanced training certifications. She grew up in Botetourt County and has lived in Roanoke for the past 20 years. She and her daughter Carlin enjoy American Saddlebred horseback riding and horse shows.
Laura offers SkinCeuticals Micro-Peels, Dermaplaning, and Advanced Corrective Peels here in our office. These procedures involve manual exfoliation, chemical exfoliation and calming cryogentic therapy with either lactic, glycolic, or salicylic acids.
Sherry is our most recent addition to the practice. She is a licensedhygienist, but you may also find her assisting Dr. Southern and helping outin any way that she can. Sherry is from Pulaski and now lives in Fairlawnwith her husband Robert 'Tiger' Williams and their two very active boys,Hunter and Trevor. Sherry has been a dental hygienist for 24 years now andloves being a part of the dental profession. She and Tiger stay busy withthe boys and their travel sports, but when at home, they enjoy the smallfarm life. Sherry is a great addition to our staff here, and her brightsmile helps to complement our already awesome team!
