Laurie has worked for Dr. Layport periodically since 1998. She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in business and has a master's degree in education from Willamette University. Laurie is married with three grown children, and is the sister of Dr. Layport.
Luan has worked for Dr. Layport as a hygienist since 2006. She has a Bachelors Degree in Business from Vietnam. She moved to Portland in 1992 and completed her dental hygiene degree in 1999. Luan has a Limited Access Permit, which makes her eligible to work in nursing homes without the supervision of a dentist. She is also an examiner for the WREB (Western Regional Examining Board), a national dental hygiene testing agency. She is studying for her MPH (Masters in Public Health). Luan is married with a grown daughter.
Most periodontists spend the majority of their time diagnosing and treating gum disease, but there are a variety other procedures that they are able to perform. Periodontists place dental implants when natural teeth cannot be saved. They also monitor the implants to make sure that they're properly doing their job. Periodontists may also correct gum recession and cover up exposed root surfaces which can be unsightly as well as sensitive to hot and cold. These procedures are often used to lay the foundation for additional cosmetic procedures to help create a beautiful smile. Finally, periodontists can be integral in the comprehensive planning of your oral care, along with your general dentist or other dental professional.

Dr. Layport and her office were AWESOME. Dr. Layport was very thorough in her exam, professional and kind, and explained everything that she planned to do. You could just tell that she cares a lot about her patients, and is very experienced in her field. I highly recommend her and her team.

I was referred to Dr. Layport two years ago or so. I have 7 dental implants and have quite a bit of bone loss over the decades (with lots and lots of checkups with my general dentist). At least 1 implant seemed very questionable if it could be saved and potentially more. It took bone grafting, Pixydust and a ton of hocus pocus but two years later, it looks like my bone and implants are best of friends again. Dr. Layport is clearly very good in what she does. I'm very thankful for her mastery! I also love having Cathy in the office (Dr. Layport's Dental Assistant). She's very nice and helpful. They both work in perfect symphony and Cathy does magic in getting patients blood pressure down by comforting and relaxing them. Next up is Luan who is doing great in biannual cleanings as Hygienist. I feel like she's doing a very thorough job to keep everything where it should be. And then there is Darla at the Front Office who is super friendly and nice to getting everything scheduled and taken care of. Next of her is Sandi who has been a big help in getting the financials taken care of. Great job with absolutely no stress to the patient...another big blood pressure lowering service!!! Great office! Great service! Great team! Thank you!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Layport for a dozen or more years and find her to be an excellent DMD. Her office staff is friendly and helpful with great follow up when I need additional information. When she has referred me to other specialists I have found them to be great as well. Easy location to get to from freeway and parking is always available. I recommend her to everyone.

My mom had some work done at Dr. Layport's office and would highly recommend her friends and family to schedule your periodontal appointments with her. The staff is friendly, professional and appointments are on on time. Dr. Layport explained in great detail what she was going to do and answered all questions.

I had nothing but the best experience with Dr. Layport and her staff. From the day of the surgery itself, through the next few weeks of healing, I felt expertly cared for and guided with clear instructions. I can honestly say I felt very little pain or discomfort throughout all of it. And I am very happy with the result.

From our first meeting, I felt complete confidence in her skills, and the work she performed was 100% effective. I was very nervous when I first came to get periodontal treatment, but after meeting Dr. Layport and her staff I realized there was nothing to worry about. They are a great team and I would recommend anyone go and see them!
