Being an orthodontist is a very rewarding profession. Taking care of my patientsover the course of several months has taught me patience and kindness. Helping someone achieve their best smile is my legacy.
As of May 24, 2022, I will have been in practice 29years. I decided to be a dental hygienist when I was in the 8th grade. I had just completed my orthodontic treatment that year and there was a career day at school:I talked with a dental hygienist at that event and decided that is what I wanted to do.
During my dental hygiene training, I obtained a part-time job working for an orthodontist. I realized that the specialty of orthodontics was what I really enjoyed, so I decided to continue my education andpursuemy dream to do what I loved!
In the years I have been practicing, orthodontics just keeps getting better and better. Research has lead to new digital technology, as well as changes in treatment planning, materials, and methodologies. I really enjoy learning about these new options and bringing the best into my practice to improve the treatment experience and results.
These professional organizations offer numerous opportunities for learning. In addition to annual meetings, they offer seminars, lectures, publications, and online classes. I make the most of these offerings, to stayat the forefront of the latest advances.
I grew up in Morgantown and met my husband, Michael Mazelon, while we were at WVU. We have been married for 27years and have three wonderful children Nicholas, Leah, and Natalie who are the light of our lives. Our family also includes two beautiful English Setters named Maggie and Judy, and a calico cat called Meow.
Since Michael and I met at WVU, we love to attend Mountaineer football and basketball games. I am a big sports fan and season ticket holder. We also enjoy traveling, as well as kayaking and biking in this beautiful state of West Virginia!
I belong to Rotary Club and participate in various community activities. I also support the United Way of Marion County, Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Fly the Flag project, Fairmont Rotary Scholarships, and Rotary Youth Leadership. Supporting our community, especially our youth, is vital to our future.

I really enjoy meeting and getting to know our patients, and seeing the happy, healthy smiles at the end of treatment! I meet with our new patients and families, do their diagnostic records, coordinate their treatment, and design payment plans. I also make retainers, assist in the clinic, and work at the front desk.
My husband of 40 years, Chuck, and I live out in the country. We have three children, three grandchildren, two small dogs, and a love for all animals. Im happiest when our grandbabies come out to explore and enjoy nature with us.
I really love all aspects of my job, but my absolute favorite is seeing the end result of treatment and those wonderful smiles our patients love to share! I oversee our inventory and order supplies. I also take diagnostic records andimpressions, and perform iTero scans, along with assisting Dr. Bonafield with procedures.
I love seeing our patients at the end of treatment: They have new smiles, and with that, they have newfound confidence! I take X-rays, digital scans, and impressions. I also assist Dr. Bonafield with orthodontic procedures, including applying braces, adjustments, and taking braces off.
Beyond the office, I spend a lot of time with my husband of 20 years, our three children, and our family dog. I enjoy running, being with loved ones, and using my cosmetologist license to dohair for family and friends.

Much of my free time is spent with my family. I have been married for more than 15 years and have five children: four daughters and one son. We enjoy the outdoors, visiting amusement parks, and relaxing at the beach.
I love getting to know our patients. I spend the day in our clinic:assisting Dr. Bonafield with a variety of procedures, including direct bonding, treatment adjustments, and my favorite removing brackets!
Ive been a resident of Marion County for my whole life. Outside the office, I enjoy reading, gardening, painting, and sewing. My husband Mark and I like playing with our two German Shepherds, and visiting our daughter and son-in-law, who live in Florida with our grandpuppy.
After finishing a day at the office, I enjoy going home and working out. I then relax and spend as much time as I can with my family. I love making it a point to brighten someones day and will always help a smiling face!
I completed two years of dental assistant schooling before joining Dr. Bonafield in 2020. I spend my days putting on braces, changing wires, and delivering retainers, all with a great attitude and a smile!
