Dr. Erik Curtis Dr. Curtis grew up in Salt Lake City and is the oldest of five children. He enjoyed his youth playing sports, skiing the beautiful Utah mountains, bike riding as well as fishing with his brothers, father and grandfather. Shortly after graduating from high school he moved to Argentina to serve a voluntary church mission for 2 years. Upon returning home, he met his future wife and fell head over heels in love. He married Sonny, and together, they attended the University of Utah and received their bachelors degrees. Upon graduating from the U of U, he was accepted to a top ten dental school and shortly thereafter they moved to the heart of the mid-west; Iowa City, Iowa.
In 2001, after completing his 4-year dental program and 2-year orthodontic specialty residency, Dr. Curtis, along with his wife, three sons and one daughter, were thrilled to move to North Idaho. They are happiest when they are spending time together as a family. Winters are spent on our local ski slopes. Spring and fall are spent out on our rivers fly fishing and carrying on the traditions from his youth. Summers are spent enjoying the warm weather on our beautiful lakes and on our local golf courses.
Dr. Curtis is actively involved in his church. He provides leadership to the youth and helps facilitate youth programs. As an orthodontic practice, he supports a variety of local charities, events, schools and athletic teams.
I have one of the best jobs in the world! It is extremely rewarding to increase self-confidence and self-esteem by helping people love to smile. I feel blessed to have the unique opportunity to get to know each of my patients and watch their personalities and lives change as their smiles are transformed into something truly beautiful!
Education Dr. Erik Curtis attended the University of Utah and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He was awarded a distinctive scholarship to attend the Top Ten nationally ranked University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery as valedictorian of his class. During dental school Dr. Curtis received numerous awards and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society, an honor bestowed upon the top 5% of dental students.
Upon graduating from dental school Dr. Curtis then pursued his two-year orthodontic specialty training program at the University of Iowa where he received his Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science degree. During his dental education Dr. Curtis completed research that has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics. Dr. Curtis has always strived to be the best at what he does, and he is committed to furthering his education to remain on the leading edge of the orthodontic profession.
Professional Experience Dr. Curtis has been in the exclusive practice of orthodontics since 1999 and is dedicated to providing quality care in a fun, happy and upbeat environment. Dr. Curtis is grateful to his dental peers that have voted him as Top Dentist for several years. He is also thrilled that his patients and community have voted him as Best of North Idaho since 2010.
Dr. Clint Wire grew up in a small rural town just outside of Olympia, Washington. Ever since he was young, he has always loved the outdoors. During his childhood, he could be found building treehouses, riding bikes and exploring the mountains with his dog. While in high school, most of his weekends were spent with his family snow skiing, riding motorcycles, boating and attending sports camps. Though probably better at driving the cart than playing, hell always accept an invitation to play golf as well!
In trying to give back to the community, he served as a proctor care guardian for over a dozen at-risk youth for several years while attending dental school. During his time living Salt Lake City, he continued to enjoy playing on intramural sports teams and being in the mountains. His dental school teams even won the University of Utah intramural championship for three different sports in the same year! After attending orthodontic residency in Iowa, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he was able to continue his hobbies of snow skiing and riding dirt bikes in the Rocky Mountains and practicing orthodontics. He is super excited to be here in Coeur dAlene and experience all the outdoor activities the area has to offer. Whitewater rafting, wake boarding, hiking, mountain biking, Dr. Wire is up for anything!
Education Dr. Wire completed his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then went on to obtain his dental degree from the University of Utah, graduating with honors at the top of his class. While there, he served as the senior class president, worked to institute an advanced orthodontic course and helped to publish research on the correction of childhood facial fractures. He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, which signifies his being in the top 5% of all dental school graduates.
Professional Experience He went on to complete his specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Iowa while serving as the chief resident for the orthodontic program. Dr. Wire is a Board Certified orthodontist who is humbled by the opportunity to treat you and your loved ones and is eager to devote his time and attention in order to provide the very best orthodontic care.
Jonna Clinical Administrator Jonna is a Dental Assisting National Board certified dental assistant. She was an honor student at Northern Arizona University and joined Curtis Orthodontics in 2011. She loves being a part of a team that enriches the lives of our patients by helping them enjoy great smiles. Jonna brings a passion for supporting others in their success to the office with her every day. She believes that kindness and joy are contagious and should be spread. Although she has been in the dental field since 1999 and has worked in pediatric and general dentistry, she has found her work in orthodontics to be the most rewarding. Jonna has three amazing sons and six beautiful grandkids. She is an avid horseback rider and loves trail riding with her dogs all over beautiful Idaho. She also enjoys hiking and the outdoors in general, but spending time with her family is at the top of her list.
Sonny Marketing and Community Outreach Director I was lucky enough to be born in Germany and raised in the United States. I grew up in Salt Lake City and lived there until my husband and I moved out west to Iowa. We have three amazing boys, one beautiful daughter and a lovable little dog. We love living in North Idaho and have made it our home since 2001. Im fairly sure I have the best job in the world! My job is to make our office fun for our patients, as well as spread Curtis Love and Curtis Smiles throughout our community. Getting to know our patients as they visit our office is an added perk!
Kira- Patient Care Administrator Kira has been a part of Curtis Orthodontics for over six years. Kira schedules all of the new patients at our office and gets to see everyone who comes in from her spot at the front desk. Her job gives her the chance to get to know each patient during their course of treatment. Kira went to school knowing that she wanted to work in the dental field and studied dental hygiene. Kira is married to her wonderful husband who just happens to be her childhood sweetheart! They have three busy kids, and she enjoys going to their sporting events and spending time with her family. She also looks forward to being on the lake, soaking up the sun!
Beth Treatment Coordinator At Curtis Orthodontics, Beth educates our new patients on why they should come to our office for their orthodontic needs. She enjoys being a part of creating beautiful smiles for all of our patients. She has been in the dental field since 1992 and joined us in 2011. She graduated with honors with a dental assisting degree. Beth has been married for 25 years and has two sons and three grandchildren. She is a triathlete who loves cooking, hiking and spending time with her family.
Jayme Treatment Coordinator Jayme joined our team in 2007! She studied biology at Dallas Baptist University from 1990 to 1994. She enjoys meeting the new families at Curtis Orthodontics and making them feel like they are part of our family. She truly believes in the type of orthodontic treatment and the level of care that Dr. Curtis provides to his patients, so it is easy for her to do the best job she can in communicating that to our new families. She absolutely loves what she does! She has been married to her husband, Brad, for 24 years and has loved every second of it! She and her husband have an amazing daughter named Lily, whom they adopted from China in 2005. Jayme enjoys learning and is always looking for new podcasts and hobbies. She is currently learning more about cooking. She also loves spending time with her family, and she volunteers in the community and at her church.
