In addition, they are recognized by the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists in their specialty. This means that an orthodontic specialist does not do fillings, cleanings, extractions, etc. The value of a specialist to you is that the orthodontist and the entire orthodontic office is set up to give you the very best and latest in orthodontic care, and can treat both routine as well as difficult cases effectively.

Orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth.Orthodontists understand the complexity of growth development and facial form. Treatment plans include issues related to the jaw and bite, not just movement of teeth. Theres a reasonorthodontists go to additional years of highly competitive orthodontic school to learn and perfect their ability in the specialty. A general dentist is ideal for providing regular oral health check-ups, comparable to your family doctor. Many dentists offer orthodontic treatment plans, but have not been trained or educated in the area.

A board certified orthodontist is committed to the highest level of patient care including a comprehensive treatment approach to ensure quality work. And board certified orthodontists must re-new their certification every 10 years to demonstrate their continuous commitment to excellence.

A board certified orthodontist is an orthodontist who has voluntarily gone through hundreds of additional hours of preparation to demonstrate their judgment, skills and knowledge required for providing the highest level of patient care. No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.

Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thoroughWritten Examinationcovering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to theClinical Examinationwhere they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go throughCertification Renewal every 10 yearsto maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

Dr. Curtis is very experienced and professional, but also friendly and put us at ease. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make the visits easier and help patients feel like they are part to the family. For example, having balloons and a little celebration when a patient removes braces, down to personalized welcome signs in the rooms they go to for consultations.

It's been about 2 years for my daughter's first phase. She just got her braces off this week. I can't begin to tell you how much space Dr. Curtis has created. She was a hopeless case but IDK how he did it, but I am so happy with her progress. I have lost sleep over her crowded malocclusion teeth in the beginning, I can't believe I found a Dr with so much care and skills. Dr. Curtis is almost a miracle worker. My daughter is on her way to a beautiful set of teeth. Her second phase will begin as her molars come in. I have absolutely no doubt she will be in good hands. The ladies that work there also got some mad skills. They are so professional with a huge smile- and beautiful, you feel like you are at Disneyland. Crazy how I am making a comparison between ortho and Disneyland, but that's how amazing this place is. If you do some research, this place also has top notch equipments. Trust me, before I decided with Dr. Curtis, I did extensive research on orthodontist ranging from Fullerton, Brea, La Habra, La Mirada, Buena Park, and Cerritos. This was the best and I have no regrets choosing Dr. Curtis. In fact, I am only so grateful. Thank you thank you and thank you.
