Since 1923 Current Dentistry has served Gaston County and the surrounding region with state-of-the-art dental services. Dr. Will Current and Dr. Charles Nason represent five generations of dentists dating back to Dr. Alfred Cornelius Currents progressive leadership to fluoridate Gastonias water supply. He also helped with the establishment of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, which has trained many dentists across the state of North Carolina. Dr. William Current, Sr., likewise worked to establish a dental clinic at the Gaston County Health Department to help serve those in need. Dr. Will Current, Jr., continues the community legacy through the Missions of Mercy clinics and his work throughout the community. Dr. Charles Nason grew up in Gastonia and is the son of well-regarded periodontist, Dr. Ron Nason. Charles recently returned to Gastonia after graduating from the UNC School of Dentistry with his wife Mackenzie, a physical therapist who focuses on children with developmental issues and other special needs. We are thrilled to have him join our Current Dentistry family!

We treat people, not teeth! Current Dentistry provides individualized diagnosis and treatment planning through an interview and exam that is both collaborative and educational. Our goal is to give you an understanding of your present condition and to show you the opportunities to improve your health. Its now clear from both medical and dental literature that dental health affects all facets of a persons physical and emotional well being. Many patients have experienced dental problems, but never understood why their teeth, muscles, and jaw joints are having issues. We ask why and work with each patient to get an individualized diagnosis. We want you to be able to get off of the dental treadmill.
The dental treadmill refers to dentistry that is focused solely on single tooth dentistry. Because of this narrow focus the dentist and the patient dont ever get to the why of their dental issues. At Current Dentistry, we are committed to figuring out the why for all of our patients!
For example, a change in the mouth may indicate a systemic problem that is resulting in additional oral acid. Medications can also change the balance of the oral environment. While you are responsible for your home care, we want to stack the cards in your favor. Strive to brush after every meal. If you dont have the chance to, at least rinse your mouth with water even after snacks!

Will Current, Jr DDS PA has been working at Current Dentistry since 1999. Dr. Currents favorite part of his job is building relationships with his talented dental team and his wonderful patients. Hes always enjoyed the opportunity to help others in a hands-on role and working alongside his father in the family practice. In his free time, Dr. Current enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and playing the guitar.

My family and I have been going to Current Dentistry for years- I've been going since I was a child. I have always loved Current Dentistry, the staff was always so kind and inviting. Recently, I had a pretty big bill for some cavity fillings, and insurance wasn't covering what I had hoped. We've recently had financial issues, so we have been budgeting and making plans for what we can pay on all other bills. I received a letter in the mail from Current Dentistry stating that I needed to call in regards to my bill, and threatening they would send it to collections. Today, I was able to call because we had a set amount on what we were able to pay on the bill to try and pay it down. I called and spoke with someone, letting them know the amount I'd like to pay. I was then hit with a rude "well, when can you pay the rest?" I felt backed into a corner, feeling that I was being told that I had to either tell her exactly when I can pay the rest of the bill or start a monthly payment plan that I wasn't comfortable with doing at the moment. After explaining that I wasn't sure when I could pay the rest, I was hit with the payment plan set up. After this encounter, I became upset that she wouldn't take my answer. I then decided to pay the entire amount because I, again, felt like I was being backed into a corner about the bill. Had this person handled the situation differently, I would have been happy to discuss some sort of plan in the future when I had our budget information figured out a little more. I will not be returning.

Dr. Current treated me for my TMD/TMJ. My jaw was "locked" and I was unable to open my mouth or eat normal foods due to constant pain. I am grateful for his knowledge and professionalism. He took excellent care of me during the process which involved multiple appointments. He checked on me a few times during the process as well. Dr. Current did not rush through my treatment and with his help I am finally pain free. He is very talented and I cannot thank him enough for getting me out of pain. His team is amazing! They are friendly and caring and just as awesome as him!

I have been going to Current Dentistry for more years than I can count, starting with Dr. Bill and now Will. The only way I would go to anywhere else is if they deadbolt the door to lock me out. Walking into the office is like walking into Thanksgiving lunch with your family, everyone is happy, smiling and it's all so contagious. What's not to love. Sitting for a cleaning is almost a chance to catch a nap, you are made just that comfortable. If you can hold your mouth open, they do all the work, painlessly and with great attention. Will always comes in for a final inspection and takes the time to share his thoughts on what issues he anticipates you will have and how he plans on tackling them. Knowing my bite was worsening, a year ago he recommended orthodontics; with that process completed, he just checked my bite, alignment and level. He's happy and I couldn't be happier with my bite.

Very pleasant experience. Both the hygienist and Doctor explained everything well and was never rushed. Office is very clean. Receptionist is extremely nice. I would rate them higher if I could but 5 is as high as google will allow.

Everyone in this practice make you feel welcome. They care about their patients from the front office along with the hygienists and Dr's. I have been going to this practice for peri cleanings for more years then I care to count and never had an issue with my care. I highly recommend them for any dental issues you may encounter.
