Dr. Jay Cunningham is a Jackson Purchase native having grown up in Graves County. After graduating from Graves County High School he attended Murray State University. While at Murray Jay received the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholarship. Jay majored in biology with a minor in chemistry and received his degree in 2004. He then began dental school at the University of Louisville. While in attendance Jay was the recipient of the Clinical Community Service Scholarship where he provided free dental care for children throughout the state, including Paducah. He graduated with his doctorate in dental medicine in 2009.
After graduating Jay moved to Murfreesboro, TN where he practiced until 2013. While practicing in Tennessee, Jay focused his continuing education on cosmetic dentistry, oral sedation, and implantology. This included completing course work for the Heartland Aesthetic Continuum, DOCS Oral Sedation, Midwest Implant Institute, and Synergy Training Program for Implantology. Understanding how busy life can be and how valuable your time is, Jay takes pride in keeping as many procedures in office as possible. To ensure this he completed courses for advanced root canals, oral surgery, periodontics, and dentures. Jay is fanatical about literature and research to make certain you receive the most current and proven dental care possible. Since returning to West Kentucky he has continued his education, focusing his efforts in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
During his sophomore year of undergraduate college Jay met his wife Leah, also a Graves County native. They were married in 2006. Jay and Leah have three beautiful daughters Evie Bell, Eelyn Grace, and Ila Rose. They currently reside in Paducah and attend Heartland Church. In his spare time Jay enjoys playing with his children, golf, tennis, and basketball.
Angela, now our hygienist, was a dental assistant from 1999 to 2014. In 2012 she started the dental hygiene program at WKCTCS and graduated in 2014. She has had training and continuing education in expanded duties dental assisting, anxiety relief for the dental patient, cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and oral surgery.
Angela enjoys all aspects of the dental profession, especially helping patients to overcome their fear of the dental office. She feels that having a patient come into the office in tears and leave with a great big smile on their face, and wonder why they hadnt come to the dentist sooner, is only one of the many joys in dentistry.
Annalisa has been an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) for 17 years. She graduated from West Kentucky Technical College in 1996 and went on to attain her Coronal Polishing Certificate from the University of Louisville. She enjoys spending time with her family and time outdoors. Her favorite part of being in the dental field is getting to know a patient as an individual, not just a chart number.
Taylor is a graduate of the WKCTC dental assisting program and is certified in coronal polishing, expanded duties, radiation health and safety. Outside of the office she enjoys traveling, and spending time outdoors with family.
Dede has been in dentistry for over 20 years. She is originally from Louisiana and moved to Paducah in 1999. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and their animals. Shes very proud to be a part of the Cunningham Dental team because everyone works together to provide our patients thebest service possible.
Natalie has been part of the Cunningham Dental family since January2022. Outsideof work, she enjoys being a wife and mother of two babies, boating, and planning family vacations. Natalie feels so blessed to have a wonderful crew to work with every day and enjoys helping patients have a great experience in the office.
Pam has been in dentistry for over 20 years. She and her husband Gary have two sons, Josh and James, and two wonderful daughters-in-law. Each son has blessed them with a grandson and a granddaughter. Pam enjoys spending time visiting them as well as boating and riding four wheelers at the lake. She feels so fortunate to be part of such a great team who are so dedicated to providing the best dental care for their patients.

Do yourself a favor and get any/all quotes in writing. They are very flippant at throwing numbers out and then-all of a sudden prices increase. I went to have a partial repaired and NEVER saw the doctor. Upon checkout was told "don't worry, we'll bill the insurance company" that in itself is a red flag. Next, paid $187 for the new partial and was told the same amount was due upon delivery. Well guess what-got a bill for over $400. So went from $300 to over $600? Oh, it was explained, must have misquoted you. Jeez-I thought quotes were something to uphold. So when I pushed back about $70 that my insurance paid (which should NOT have been billed-fraud?) they took it off my balance and said and I quote " if you had a problem with the amount, which is why we sent you the bill, we could have rescheduled if the money was an issue". A-don't insult me, B-so what were you gonna do, hold my partial hostage? Seriously - so not walk, RUN to a different dentist. I know I am.

I would highly recommend this dental office to everyone I get this chance to. Scheduling an appointment was easy and very friendly. Upon arrival I was greeted with a friendly smile and great customer service. This has been the most pleasant experience. Mandy cleaned my teeth and she did a fantastic job. It has been 6 years I've had my braces off and no one has ever tried to get the adhesive off until now. Mandy went above and beyond by doing so. This dental office has fantastic staff members. I actually look forward to coming back. Dr. Cunningham was also very friendly. He examined my teeth after being cleaned and was very informative with what needed to be done. 5 stars is the highest rating I can give, but they deserve so much more. Thank you very much!

A very dedicated staff that goes above and beyond to help patients like me that are terrified of going to a dental clinic. I have only had good and detailed explained experiences since my first visit here. The staff is amazing. Dr. Cunningham is extremely professional and a skillful dentist. Five Star review for cosmetic work. I was set to pay for some extensive resurfacing but Dr Cunningham did a lot of polishing (and counseling) and we agreed that less was best. I really appreciated his skill, advice, and the high-tech equipment that allowed me to see what was really going on.

I'm sure their dental care is perfectly adequate - I only got as far as an x-ray - and was eventually put-off, first, by the dental assistant who kept calling me "baby-girl." Not once or twice, but repeatedly. Apart from the fact that I'm 32-years-old, I find this completely unprofessional (this behavior would annoy me at a nail salon, let alone a dental office). Also, they charge $150 for nitrous oxide treatment, which is an absurd price. It would be cheaper for me to drive 4.5 hours to my dentist in TN and back. I have sensitive teeth and get a lot of work done, so that's not going to work for me. So, they lost me and my yearly average dental expense is not a negligible amount.

Client-centered experience that began at the front desk, continued with the gentle, but effective hygienist and professional dentist, and ended with my 14 year-old napping on the comfortable couch as she waited for me. Not like any dentist office you've visited before.

My sister in with a broke tooth hoping to find a new dentist. Was hurded in like cattle the dentist barely said 3 words other than we will be doing a crown. When mentioned my sister wanted to talk about cosmetic procedures and possibly Invisalign she was blown off by the dentist "we can just go over that whenever" and on to the next room he went. He never talked to her at all. She was in the chair and laid back with stuff in her mouth by the time he came in. She has a severe fear of the dentist our previous dentist (whom no longer takes her delta dental) would prescribe 1 pill for her anxiety. When she asked about it at Cunningham acted like she was was a drug addict "we DON'T prescribe those kind of things". She was never followed up on about the crown or to even schedule her for a cleaning which her dental insurance covered. They were only interested in charging her over $1600 cash for a crown that her insurance wouldn't cover. Apparently, we caught the entire office on a off day on 3 different occasions. My sister wouldn't dare make a bad review but people need to know that they don't treat everyone that comes into their office like "family" even while you are giving them $1600 in cash.

Great doctor and staff. I had to switch doctors after losing my insurance once, then couldn't go back with new insurance because they are not Aetna in-network providers. Gave only two stars because they are closed on Friday's. It's hard to find a truly great dentist, you will find they have a very happy staff. However, not completely customer friendly. They definitely need to accept more insurance providers and re-evaluate their hours.

I had my crown down here 2 years ago because they got such good reviews but I am very disappointed.... After 2 adjudgments, I still wasn't able to use my left side to eat, one side of my crown was too short and food was trap in there and cavity was form. Now I have to get a new crown. I never wrote a bad review or do a complaint before but I hope this will bring them to attention so it doesn't happen again to someone
