Dr. Zhou has received extensive training in general dentistry and orthodontics both in the United States and China. Dr. Zhou completed her orthodontic residency training with a PhD degree from Beijing in 2003. Dr. Zhou also holds a DDS degree from UNC Dental School at Chapel Hill. She is member of the American Orthodontic Society and American Dental Association. She has devoted herself to clinical research of orthodontics in the Department of Orthodontics at UNC Chapel Hill. She is the first author of several articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

Clear braces work just as effectively as metal braces but with some major improvements. Clear braces are much more difficult to notice, making them ideal for busy professionals, teens and those that do not want to negatively impact their current appearance during the process.
There are several types of clear and barely visible options to choose. One operates similarly to traditional metal braces where we place a bracket onto each tooth and thread a wire between the brackets. The difference is that instead of being made out of metal, the brackets for clear braces consists of a tooth-colored resin that blends in with the natural tooth. The wire is also tooth-colored so that the braces themselves are almost invisible and difficult to see. We find that this solution works well for teens and adults that are able to practice proper dental hygiene with the clear braces. Otherwise, food can stain the brackets. This solution is an excellent alternative to traditional braces and is just as effective at addressing all oral health concerns.
Clear braces also come in the form of aligners. Clear aligners look like a full retainer that surrounds the teeth and are worn on the upper and lower teeth. Aligners are more convenient to wear than metal braces since patients can remove them when necessary. One of the major concerns that people have with wearing braces is that they do not come off until the treatment is complete. If, for example, you get braces then decide to get married, you will either have braces in your wedding pictures or need to pay to remove them and reinstall them after. I am not one to post but this dentist was so great I had too. I haven't been able to smile for quite some time, and was I very discouraged because I thought the process would be very costly and painful. Crystal Smile Family Dentistry was very helpful with getting me through this process. The staff is PHENOMENAL and I was able to get my smile back in a short amount of months. Dr. Zhou is vey professional and patient. All staffs are very nice and relax my anxiety. My special thanks go to Sue and Lisa, they are very friendly. Sue handles the insurance for me and Sue teaches me how to use dental floss very carefully. I feel very lucky to meet all of you and has been taken good cares :-)!

This doctor is not honest to say the least. Review what other customers are saying. She is recommending root treatment which is unnecessary at all from THREE dentists elsewhere so that she could pocket the money. She will tell you how bad your tooth is at your first visit and recommend a bunch of treatment which are totally unnecessary, of course, at your expense or insurance money. She will not honor what the Ads she give out if you are NOT a repeat customer. The cleaning service is awfully painful and you will need to see your family doctor to treat after the cleaning. She is not honest nor professional.

The best dental service I have ever experienced. Everyone here is patient and nice. Dr. Zhou has superb skills. I have not extracted any tooth during my lifetime before, so I was a little bit nervous at the first stage. Nevertheless, the tooth extraction is done without I even noticed it. The whole procedure is fast, painless and well-done, just like magic :-)

My permanent retainer broke, I needed a doctor to help me as soon as possible. Called a lot of dental clinic in my city, the earliest appointment was scheduled in 3 weeks. So I tried further, found Dr Zhou in Cary, she took care me at her lunch break the next day. This happed 6 years ago, after I moved to NC . Since then, every time I drive more than one hour from Greensboro to visit her for my dental appointment . She is very professional and patient. Strongly recommend.

I had the best experience of extraction in Crystal smile where a complicated teeth with at least three tridents stood out and needed to be extracted. My previous extraction experience indicated me there would be a lot of pain waiting for me, since that teeth was broken into a couple of parts that had to be drilled out one by one. I don't know what happened to that poor teeth. But I am sure I was very nervous. For this extraction with Dr. Zhou, I tried a couple of times to ask her how my teeth was like during extraction. Dr. Zhou just simply explained me something. She told me not to ask too much and just relax as possible as I can. To be honest, I felt Dr. Zhou was a little bit of rude at that moment. I was just praying the painful extract could be gone as soon as possible. After less than 10 minutes, my teeth was extracted. I thought the painful drilling would come next. Fortunately, Dr. Zhou told me I was so lucky and the whole teeth was successfully extracted without further drilling or cleaning. The wound was so small that I quickly recovered in a week. That was a wonderful extraction experience because of the fantastic and professional skill from Dr. Zhou. Thank Dr. Zhou! I suddenly realized "her rudeness" of not asking too much really makes sense. The more you ask, the more anxiety you might feel. Once you cannot relax your muscle, your teeth is likely to be broken during extraction or it would be harder for your dentist to extract. Thus, don't ask too much during extraction. I believe your dentist like Dr. Zhou should let you know if there is really something exceptional occurred. What you should do is to trust them.

This is the most comfortable dentist office I have ever been to. The dentists (Dr. Jing (Crystal) Zhou) are absolutely fantastic professionals. The dental assistants are just as gifted. The front desk staff are highly experienced in the management of insurance issues, and are so friendly and helpful explaining everything. I am lucky that Dr. Jing (Crystal) Zhou has been my dentist for 5+ years. They saved my teeth and, thus, my overall health. I arrived at my appointment with significant repair needed. Scary! I was involved created a lengthy treatment plan. My physical and financial comfort directed the project. They explained EVERY procedure and cost and presented alternative options. I asked questions, and they were answered. Not one person in the office ever made me feel ashamed or embarrassed about the state of my dental health or the rate I could afford to address the issues. The Dentistry team's goal was to get me well. The doctors stay very well versed in new technology but are still not afraid to use old-school common sense problem-solving. I have spent many hours in their dental chair, and everyone has been very kind and patient. Thank you so much for the excellent dental care you've always given me but, especially so in 2021 a most challenging year! Your professional expertise, integrity and compassionate concern for the person on the other end of drill are most appreciated. Thank you for giving me back my SMILE.

This is a comfortable clinic that I feel ease to receive treatments from a dependable dental team. The waiting area is cozy and relaxing. The treatment rooms are nice and clean full of modern equipment. The entire team is polite, caring, and accommodating. Dr. Zhou is calm, tender, knowledgeable and skillful. Crystal Smile is very conveniently located in the center of Cary. The staff here are very kind and helpful. Dr. Zhou understand the pain of patients very well. Sometimes she can offer filling and deep cleaning without anethesia. Obviously this requires skills and patience of her hand. She can also do simple operation like extraction of wisdom teeth. The nurses are all very skillful. I haven't tried whitening nor braces here yet, but may do that one day. Strongly recommend her to everyone!

Dr. Zhou, and her team, make every visit pleasurable, and even if it's for a root canal, I still have a good experience. I have been coming here for a couple a years, and I have had root canals, crowns, teeth pulled, fillings, and of course cleanings. Dr. Zhou has some steady hands, and does amazing work while making you feel at ease. I highly recommend this Dentist.

Posting on behalf of a friend (Kara B.): " I am a Certified Dental Technician which means I know just enough about dentistry. When I first saw Dr. Zhou's work, I knew she was one of the few in her profession that not only had skilled hands but a good eye and a desire for excellence. I could go on about how her crown preparations are immaculate and precise or how she can prevent a filling from becoming a crown or a crown from becoming a bridge simply by her choice of and willingness to use a different instrument or hand piece. Dr. Zhou is also caring, gentle, and patient. I have never had a dentist take such care and spend the necessary time to make sure I didn't experience any discomfort. She gave a little of the anesthesia, then returned to give the rest of it after the area was already becoming numb. The staff is great too. They are friendly and accommodating. At my last visit, Acha even had a lighthearted comedy on the TV so that I would be distracted as well as entertained Her staff is fully vaccinated, and everyone is in full personal protective equipment. For my recent visit I brought a CO2 monitor to test the carbon dioxide at her practice, since those levels are a proxy for ventilation and a barometer for expired breath and viral load. When I told her how amazing her levels were, she told me she rotates the rooms and even uses UV-C light to sterilize the operatories after the patients leave, in addition to standard disinfection protocols. With so many dentists out there to choose from, Dr. Zhou made my decision easy"
