Dr. Cruz is a native San Diegan, born and raised in Pacific Beach and a graduate from Mission Bay High School. He attended UCSD where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and met his future wife, Keri. They currently have two children, Caylie age 11 and Carly age 6.
Using state-of-the-art technology Dr. Cruz is committed to excellence and dedicated to his own personal development. He is dedicated to upholding his reputation as top orthodontist in San Diego and to providing the best adult orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Cruz is an Invisalign-certified orthodontist and an active member in several national, regional, and local dental societies including the American Association of Orthodontics, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, and the San Diego Dental Society to name a few. He also lectures to both general dentists and specialists regarding current orthodontic affairs.
It 's been almost four years now that we 've been coming to Dr. Cruz. If I had one word to describe the experience we 've had it would be 'Amazing'. There 's a sense of family and closeness that you get from him and his staff when you come in for each visit. I couldn 't imagine taking my children anywhere else. It 's truly been our pleasure!!!! For most people, a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics treatment. After orthodontic treatment, patients often feel more confident and take great pride in their new straight smile!
Your dentist may have also discussed with you additional benefits of having healthy teeth and proper jaw alignment. Crooked and crowded teeth are harder to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, gum disease, and even tooth loss.
Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal tooth wear, poor chewing function, stress on gum and bone tissue, or misalignment of the jaw joints (TMJ problems). Typically, with quality orthodontic treatment and care, many if not all of these issues can be resolved.
Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic and have the option of being removable or bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly maneuver teeth towards a corrected position.
Typical treatment time can last between one to three years depending on the severity of the problem. Patients will respond differently to orthodontic treatment so the time of completion may differ from the original estimated treatment time. Patient compliance of any prescribed rubber bands or appliances is also an important factor in staying on track. Interceptive, or early treatment procedures, may take as few as six months.

Dr. Cruz and his staff are really wonderful and couldn't have asked for more. He runs a great business and the results speak for themselves. My kids teeth look great and am so happy for them. I really love this orthodontist and the staff is professional and everyone has a smile. I would highly recommend them! Don't let your kids feel awkward with bad teeth like I did when I was young and didn't get braces until I was 25!

Dr. Cruz and his staff are absolutely amazing! They were extremely accommodating to my busy schedule and very understanding. I had braces in the past and never wore my retainer. This time was completely different. Thanks to him I'm feeling like smiling all the time :)

Dr. Cruz is hands down the best! His medical expertise, competence, knowledge and rapport are second to none. I would recommend him every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He listened to my concerns and needs for my daughter's teeth and worked with me to achieve amazing results even ahead of our timeline. Dr Cruz and his staff are wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure you are well taken care of. We got detailed instructions each step along the treatment. My daughter just got her braces off, and she is surprised at how quick and comfortable it had been. Her experience had been very pleasant and fun. Now, my younger daughter can't wait to start hers. OK people, listen up!! this place is absolutely fantastic! Our daughter was 12 when we decided to get her braces... Of course, being the super picky parents that we tend to be, ok we searched high and low, scouring the Internet and reading reviews before coming across Dr. Cruz. Needless to say, from the first time we stepped foot in his office, everything has been perfect! His offices are immaculately clean every single time we go, everyone that works there is super friendly and Dr. Cruz is simply amazing! The level of care they provided for our daughter is hands-down the best. Her experience throughout the whole process was as perfect as it could get. Appointments were scheduled timely, they send text alerts to remind us of upcoming appointments And my daughter was comfortable at every visit. She never had any issues with her braces with brackets falling off or anything else that may come up with having braces. Her braces were put on in February 2020 right before Covid hit... The staff continued to abide by all measures necessary to keep the offices going with minimal disruption which was perfect because it did not delay her having to wear her braces longer than necessary. Today was her big day, the braces came off!! And to say that her teeth look perfect is a total understatement... They look fabulous!! Those babies are straight as an arrow... She could be a Colgate toothpaste supermodel! No joke! I can't stop staring at them!! But all kidding aside, this office does fantastic work and I would highly recommend them to anybody who is looking for a trustworthy orthodontist who provides the highest level of care to their patients...Dr. Cruz is great!!!

Absolutely love Dr. Cruz and his team. Professional, personable and caring. My daughter did braces with him and they turned out great. She was worried about doing it but Dr. Cruz was so understanding and helped her through it all. Their team is really caring and responsive if we ever needed to call or come in for a concern (when a retainer is accidentally lost) they were quick to help and respond. We were doing her braces during the pandemic. Their covid Protocols measures were top notch. And safety was their number one priority. I plan to have another kid going through Dr.Cruz's office soon. And I would recommend him whole heartedly!!

We'd like to send a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Cruz and his staff! Our teenage daughter's teeth look great! She was under the care of Dr. Cruz a little over two years, almost all of which was during COVID. Dr. Cruz is very friendly, takes the time to explain all procedures, and is happy to answer any questions. The staff also maintained a high level of courteous professionalism throughout the entire process, keeping us informed of new requirements for each appointment. We couldn't have had a better experience and our daughter agrees (we asked her). The new patient gift cards and mini celebration when she had her braces taken off were a bonus.
