Dental technology has made remarkable advances, with developments in diagnosis and treatment that many may not be aware of. If you have not been to a dentist recently or have been in the care of someone who has not adopted new techniques, you will notice a difference the first moment you enter our office.

For example, we now use digital radiography, which allows us to diagnose in more depth with the use of much less radiation. We also use diode lasers to cosmetically contour gums and treat mouth ulcers and cold sores. We also use the Itero Digital Scanner instead of making impressions of teeth. This device is more comfortable for patients, requires no more gooey impressions, and creates highly accurate images of teeth. Our Owings Mills dental office also uses SNAP Dental Imaging, which allows us to take a digital picture of your teeth and create the beautiful smile you have always dreamed of having.

VELscope is routinely used in our office to help detect precancerous and cancerous lesions that may not be visible to the naked eye. To eliminate bacteria from the dental waterlines in our office, a system called O-So Pure has been installed.

In 1973 when I was only 13 years old, I spent one afternoon a week helping my father in his dental practice in Annapolis. I saw firsthand how passionate my father was about changing the lives of his patients, many of whom became his friends. This experience sparked my passion for dentistry and helping people with dental disease, leading me to earning my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1982. During my summers in dental hygiene school, I worked for many offices as a dental receptionist and dental assistant, and even worked for a dental staffing agency.

I graduated from The University of Maryland School of Dentistry with high honors in 1986 and became the third-generation dentist in my family. I practiced with my father and mother (who was the office manager) for 18 years, commuting from Owings Mills to Annapolis. In 2004, my family and I decided that I needed a change, and I purchased a small dental practice seven minutes from my home and seven minutes from my childrens school.

I was raised in the mountains of Western Maryland, where I received my undergraduate degree in biology from Frostburg State University.I knew wanted to pursue a career in medicine, but I wasnt sure what kind of medicine. Then the secretary at my moms work fell ill, and everything changed. It was winter break, so I made some extra money helping my moms boss (a dentist) with the administrative work.I worked in that office for a month, and I left knowing exactly what career was for me. I never looked back.

After completing my dental education at University of Maryland School of Dentistry, I worked with underserved populations in Baltimore City, and then with Tidewater Dental, where I received the Dentist of the Year award for 2019. I am passionate about continuing education and am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.Received her Bachelor of Science in from the University of Maryland, College Park

I enjoy getting to know each of my patients personally and helping guide them to their own optimal dental health. In my spare time, I can be found in the yoga studio, on the beach, and spending quality time with my pets. I have 3 dogs, 6 cats, and am a foster parent for my local rescue. I love animals almost as much as I love being a dentist.

The staff and Dr Friend were all welcoming and professional. I love the lavender scented bibb it made me feel very relaxed as I laid back in the soft, buttery, leather dental chair. The lemon scented warm washcloth to clean my face after the dental cleaning was wonderful. Dr Friend was very thorough and answered all of my questions. Overall, a great experience as a first time patient.

Before going to this place, I heard that they are sales people but they were still good dentist and so I decided to give a try. I have been always going to the dentist twice per week since I was very young. I take EXTREMELY good measures with dental hygiene. Now, in my 40s I am very orally healthy and have never been told otherwise until yesterday. Yesterday, according to two of the dentists there, I have 25% bone loss in my entire mouth. No one ever said this to me!! (they claimed genetic but my parents and grandparents never had this), and then after 2 hours of images which was ridiculous they wouldn't give me a regular cleaning because they said now I no longer qualify because I have a disease of the gums!! They try to sell me on the fact that I need four special deep cleanings per year (not covered by insurance) AND I also have seven cavities that need to be filled right away. After handing me a $3000 bill with multiple visits within the next couple of months, I ran out of there. They are scam artists and will brainwashed into thinking you need all of this dental work. I am appalled!

I signed some forms and no it was in no time they called me back! Dr.Rief and her assistant was extremely nice and helpful and gentle took X-rays and then the tooth lol that's fast, I was in a lot of pain she prescribed me medication and I was on my way home, they scheduled my future appointments and checkout was easy the ladies at that desk was very pleasant and helpful! The dentist is a scary experience that I hate they made it better I definitely will return,

I was in search for another dental practice when my dentist abruptly retired. I called everywhere and no one was taking new clients. My last resort was Crossroads Dental Arts. They too informed me that they weren't taking any new clients but said that today was my lucky day. They are professional and on time. I love my dentist Dr. Friend. She's so polite and makes the process of working on my teeth uneventful. She smiles and has small conversation with you. The bonus is that they aren't too far from my house. Thank you for taking me on as a patient. Anyone looking for a dentist please give them a call

10/10, I am scheduling appointments for my entire family now! Very efficient, very friendly, very clean! Cost effective too! The last dentist office I went to was charging me $400 for a cleaning and fill in. I am saving myself $350 by going to see Dr. Friend.

I had neglected going to the dentist because of the anxieties I would always feel. This was truly a different and unexpected pleasure. Every one I came in contact with from the receptionist, to the the staff and Dr. Friend showed me a great deal of patience, understanding and caring. I am happy that I chose this place and feel that they will point me to the best solutions and options for my dental needs. To God be the glory!
