Denture supported implants eliminate the pain and discomfort of removable full or partial dentures. Since dentures sit on top of the jawbone and gums, continuous shrinkage of the jawbone alters the fit of the denture resulting in slipping or rocking of the dentures.

In 1952 at the university town of Lund, Sweden, Professor Per-Ingvar Branemark had a lucky accident. He discovered that it was impossible to recover any of the bone-anchored titanium microscope he was using in his research. The titanium had apparently bonded irreversibly to living bone tissue. He discovered that under careful controlled conditions, titanium could be structurally integrated into living bone with a very high degree of predictability and without long-term soft tissue inflammation or ultimate fixture rejection. Dr. Branemark named the phenomenon osseointegration.

Prior to 2003, the actual procedure could take las 3-4 hours. The complete process could take 4-9 months or longer. The procedure would include two surgical steps. The dentist sliced open the gums to create a 'gum flap'. An implant that looked like a cylinder was placed in the jaw to act as replacement for tooth roots.

In the new procedure 'Teeth in-an-hour' (created by Nobel Biocare) patients typically get a CT scan, which is used to create a 3-D digital image of the mouth. The image allows the dentist to do 'virtual surgery', planning the placement of the implants in the mouth digitally. A surgical guide is then constructed. This allows the dentist to place implants without having to slice open the gums. When the patient returns the prostheses is waiting. Local anesthesia is used to deaden the nerves. A surgical guide is placed in the mouth, which indicates implant cites.Tissue the exact size of the implant is removed, based on the surgical guide.Although several weeks of planning is involved prior to the actual placement, the surgical procedure, 'Teeth in-an-hour' actually takes approximately an hour per arch.

He's soooo good that my wife was getting a tooth in the back and he asked her are you ready for me to pull your tooth? She said Yes. He saidc"Oh, I've ready pulled it and showed it to her!!!" Not surprised at all because his father was a dentist too! We called him "the NO PAIN dentist!"

The dentist I saw (several years ago was AWESOME. He was educated and very kind and recommended me to a great surgical team. Unfortunately, due to terrible customer service (I believe her name was Mya), I will not be returning. I called today to make an appointment and not only did she just hang up when I thanked her for "patiently" answering my questions, when I called back to make am actually appointment, she let out a long and loud, very rude sigh. When you work in customer service as an admin or in office management, you are the front line and play a very important role in the company's growth when it comes to paying customers. Your attitude can make or break opportunities not only for the customer in need of dental care but for the doctor as well. Dear Mya, I hope you have a better day. I will take my business else where.
