Dr. Monica Patel and Dr. Sameer Kashyap both attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Monica patel is a native of Charlotte and completed her undergraduate studies at NC State followed by a Masters in Nutritional Sciences at Columbia University in NY. Dr. Sameer Kashyap is also a Charlotte native and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Despite being a house and dental practice divided (UNC and NC State are Rival schools), Dr. Patel and Dr. Kashyap find a way to cater to their community and deliver the best in cosmetic, general and family dentistry.
Although Dr. Patel and Dr. Kashyap grew up in Charlotte and completed their Bachelors at neighboring universities, they did not meet until Tufts in Boston. Dr. Sameer Kashyap went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry in Winslow, Arizona after dental school and found his passion for implant dentistry. He has taken more continuing education courses focused on placing implants safely and successfully through 3D Guided implant surgery.
In addition to their impressive training, Dr. Patel and Dr. Kashyap continue their education and are fully certified Invisalign providers. Digital X-Rays X-rays have been used for years to take images of your teeth and the surrounding structure. These images help us give an accurate diagnosis. Now, rather than use traditional x-rays, we can provide you with digital images. Digital x-rays have many advantages over traditional x-rays, such as:
Intraoral Cameras Intraoral cameras are small, pen-shaped cameras that we can use to show you the interior of your mouth. The video feed links directly to a monitor in real-time, allowing us to discuss together the current oral health issues you may have.
Digital Impressions Using intra-oral scanners, we can take digital impressions of your teeth. These impressions can be sent to laboratories to create dental pieces, such as veneers and crowns. Dental impressions are much more convenient and, generally, more effective than traditional impressions taken using a mold.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography Cone beam computed tomography (or CBCT) is a medical imaging special type of X-ray that uses computed tomography where the X-rays are divergent, forming a cone. This method is used by our dentists when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. CBCT is used for implant placement and root canals.

A 3D scanner and 3D printer work together to help you create a replica. While the scanner converts a real object into a virtual one, the printer uses a virtual object to produce a real one. I have never really had a bad dental experience as many others have. Therefore, I would consider my experiences fairly smooth and easy, even after a traumatic injury to a tooth and subsequent root canal. However, the experience I had this morning at Craft Smiles makes all those "average" experiences seem less than smooth. The service provided by Jess and Dr. Kashyap for my initial visit today made me feel like I had been missing something in my dental visits all along. Both Jess and Dr. Kashyap were very friendly, engaging in conversation more than the light chit-chat typical of these medical environments. Dr. Kashyap took plenty of time explaining everything from the procedures being conducted, to his thoughts on his observations, to possible future outcomes. It is obvious he truly cares for dentistry and for his clients. We are not simply "customers" for him to quickly check each tooth with a metal tool and walk out, only for his employees to hawk several products with pushy sales tactics, as some places do. He made logical recommendations for me to explore at home, at my own pace. He even recommended a certain product be purchased elsewhere because of the discounted price. It never occurred to me I could feel happy leaving a dentist's office, but I really did have a Craft Smile after leaving.....sorry, couldn't help it! In all seriousness, whether you have anxiety around dental visits or, like me, dental work doesn't bother you one bit, I highly recommend the team at Craft Smiles!

I highly recommend Craft Smiles, especially if you're apprehensive and/or hesitant about going to the dentist. The care and concern they show their patients is evident from check-in throughout your visit. Dr. K is by far the best dentist I've ever had and Jess is an excellent assistant. So glad I found this practice.

I never thought I'd say this, but I LOVE my dentist office so much. Dr. Patel and her staff were just so warm and kind. She is clearly very knowledgeable, but also genuine and real. She spent the time to get to know me, made realistic and honest recommendations for my dental health, and educated me on the "why" behind each of those recommendations. The office space is also gorgeous- it's very modern, green plants everywhere, TVs with Netflix for when you're getting your teeth cleaned, and they have the sweetest office pup named Winston!! I used to dread going to the dentist, but now I can't wait to go back to see Winston and Dr. Patel.

My 1st initial visit at this dental office was very good . After my x-rays were taken the doctor explained in detail my findings. If I had any questions they were answered. Everyone was polite and courteous. Thank you for a wonderful first experience.

10/10! I had an amazing experience here. Super thorough exam and cleaning. I had a cavity filled and for the first time I wasn't anxious and scared out of my mind. They were so patient with me and understanding how anxious I was leading up to it. They are all about educating their patients so I felt more in control than I've ever felt at a dentist before. Truly an amazing place I cannot recommend them enough!
