Terry grew up in Caledonia MN and went to college at St. Johns University. He went to dental school at the University of Minnesota and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1994. Wanting to live close to his hometown he started Cowgill Dental in Onalaska. He loves dentistry so much he married another dentist, Michelle Schoene. They are now blessed with three children, Grace, Jonah, and Sophia.
Melissa is from the Twin Cities area and went to the University of Minnesota Duluth for her bachelors degree. In 1996 she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota. She joined our practice in 1997 and now lives with her husband Mark and their four children, Aaron, Brandon, Cal, and Danielle.
Michelle (Cowgill) is from Racine WI and went to Marquette University before attending dental school at the University of Minnesota. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1995. Besides being a full-time Mom she also enjoys treating her patients a few days per week.
Dr. Aksel Gundersen graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2017 after receiving his undergraduate degree in biology from UW Madison. Dr. Gundersen grew up in La Crosse and is a 2007 graduate of Logan High School.
As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Aksel was a counselor at a canoe camp in northern Wisconsin during his college summers. To this day, Dr. Aksel continues to enjoy canoeing, camping, and nature with his wife, Maggie. He is a member of the La Crosse District Dental Society, Wisconsin Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
Dr. Alexander was born and raised in Ukraine. She earned a degree in dental hygiene and later her DDS from New York University. Dr. Alexander then completed a general practice residency at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where she covered all aspects of general dentistry.
Dr. Alexander is a proud member of the Academy of General Dentistry and in 2020, received the Fellowship Award from the AGD. The Fellowship Aware is presented to dentists who strive to provide the highest quality of dental care to their patients by remaining current in the field of oral care as well as incorporating the latest research techniques into their practices.

Front staff were friendly and accommodating. Ciari, my Hygienist, was very thorough. Dr.Alexander seemed to have a real caring attitude for my teeth and what needed to be done to fix them. Her and her assisstant , Taylor did an awesome job.

I had my first visit to Cowgill Dental and I couldn't have been happier. The staff from the receptionist to the hygienist to Dr. Gundersen were all warm, friendly and competent. I would definitely recommend this dental practice to others!

Cowgill Dental is a very nice business, the staff are more than friendly and ready to help. The dental chair was massaging so felt wonderful! I felt very comfortable with the care given to me.

I have never been to such a professional friendly dental office. I had such a pleasant experience here and i have full confidence they are going to do a great job with my dental needs. I will only recommend Cowgill Dental to anyone. I am so very happy. I have finally found a wonderful dentist. I have had nothing but bad experiences in the past and these people have put my faith back in dentists again. I can honestly say im looking forward to going back!!!

Absolutely love the hygienists and the wonderful rooms and massaging chairs. Was very saddened to hear Dr. D'Handt had left. We followed him and his staff from Driftless Dental. Hope he is happy where he is at now.

Really nice dental clinic . The desk staff making appointments and taking care of insurance could be nicer and more friendly. The hygienist is knowledgeable and an excellent communicator and took the time to explain the options with my dental issues in a realistic and practical way. She relayed the important info to the dentist so that he could make better use of his time. This is what every dental clinic should be like. Everyone there seems top notch in their attitudes, skills and important to me have great sense of humor too . Dr Parker was fantastic - takes time to explain what she is doing, works quickly and painlessly to fix the teeth. I had a crown done and they made it with their onsite milling machine so no second visit needed. You could tell that she had a lot of experience and expertise.

Everyone was practicing Covid safety rules. Staff is kind and considerate. They put you at ease, take a personal interest into the patient and practice safe and soothing dentistry. Great place!!

I had a crown fall out recently, and they were able to get me in with 1-2 days after. They placed it well, and I appreciate them making time out of their schedule for me. Also, the doctor and assistants is very knowledgeable and knows what they are doing.

Cowgill Dental came highly recommended. My experience was great and their service exceptional. Hygienist, Abby was very professional and friendly. I felt welcomed and comfortable. Dr. A was also great. I think I've found my dental home.

This is a beautiful facility, and the people that work there are very friendly and accommodating! My hygienist, Kaitlin, was extremely personable, and highly competent. I enjoyed her very much. Dr. A, (that's what they call her), is very through and knowledgeable. Overall it was a great experience!
