Dr. Cowan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from the University of Alabama before attending the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and earned his DMD degree with honors in 1986.
Dr. Cowan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from the University of Alabama before attending the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and earned his D.M.D. degree with honors in 1986.
He earned a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina in 1992 and opened his practice in Tuscaloosa after graduation. Dr. Cowan was also a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Alabama Orthodontic Department for over 10 years.
During her academic career, Dr. Whitaker received several awards for academic excellence. Today, she stays up-to-date with the latest in orthodontic treatments and technology to provide patients of all ages with high-quality care.

It was an interesting experience. I love Dr. Cowan and Dr. Whitaker staff. Dr. Cowan is an awesome orthodontist and I highly recommend him. He is very hands on with his patients, great bedside manners so to speak. He is very thorough with his work for his patients. He and his staff are very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, patience , and kind. Everyone was always nice , friendly, and kind. Just a great group that puts you at ease.I will give them 2 thumbs up and . Thank you all for everything.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my entire life. True and authentic professionals who are the absolute best. I will put them against anyone in the country! Aside from the impeccable work done by Dr. Whitaker and Dr. Cowan, their staff is second to none. They are all positive, polite and professional- all the time! They are truly AWESOME!

A few months ago my flipper broke unexpectedly that holds my 2 front teeth. I was in an absolute panic and devistated. Dr. Cowan and staff was there for me. Im so thankful for my new flipper. I can smile with confidence today thanks to Dr. Cowan.

Dr. Cowan and his staff are the absolute BEST! Knowledgeable, friendly, and caring! We live an hour and a half away but they are totally worth it! Wouldn't want anyone else to be my kids' orthodontist!
