I am fortunate to have attained the level of an orthodontic specialist in the dental profession and equally honored to be recognized by the American Board of Orthodontics as a Board Certified orthodontist for demonstrating continuing expertise in my field. I appreciate being able to provide such a life-changing service to my patients. Nothing compares to having a positive impact on so many different types of peoples lives. It is very rewarding to see the outcome of my vision and plan in a patients beautiful smile.

My profession is a direct reflection of my personality. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them as individuals while helping them achieve their smile goals. I am excited about approaching each patient with a customized treatment plan to meet their smile expectations.

The challenge of diagnosing issues and developing solutions is one that I embrace daily! To do this effectively, I have continued my education beyond my formal schooling in numerous ways. I have advanced training in light wire self-ligating braces technology and Invisalign as a cosmetic treatment alternative. Additionally, as a member of several professional organizations, I am able to meet with the brightest minds in orthodontics and dentistry, providing me with a variety of perspectives on the newest trends in the field of orthodontics.

I have put together an exceptionally talented team of caring professionals. Each member has a defined role in our office to make the patient experience beyond what they would expect. We treat each patient and their family according to their unique needs. Each person who walks in the door becomes a very special part of the Covino Orthodontics family.

I am a native of Dobbs Ferry, New York, and havecalled Solebury, PA my home since 2000. My wife, Kathy, and I have three children. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, golfing, bike riding, and doing home improvement projects.

Being active in my community is a great way to give back to those who have been so supportive to me. As a practice, Covino Orthodontics is proud to sponsor many local sport teams and participate in various school fairs, health information events, and fund-raisers to increase awareness of the importance of orthodontics. Additionally, I volunteer my time as the school dentist for our local public school district.

Covino Orthodontics - Orthodontist in Doylestown, PA

Welcome to Covino Orthodontics! My name is Bandit. I was given to Dr. Covino by his children nearly 20 years ago when he first started his practice to welcome patients into the office. I always like to be petted and I move a round sometimes so try to find me when you come in for your visit.

I assist new patients and their families in the process of choosing orthodontic treatment. My goal is to help our new families understand the value of a beautiful smile while making the entire new patient process a convenient and pleasant experience. As the newest addition to the Covino Orthodontics team, Ive had a lot of fun getting to know all of our patients and their families. I love explaining all of the intricacies of orthodontics to patients who are so interested. Experiencing that first look in the mirror with a patient after de-banding is so rewarding! Dr. Covino is so honest in his care and concern for each and every patient. His easy-going nature, lively conversation and quick wit put his patients immediately at ease. I feel very fortunate to be a part of his team.

Don't worry! Braces aren't nearly as scary as you may think. In fact, braces today come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors, making life with braces much easier, more comfortable, and even more stylish than in the past.

  • Early treatment Early treatment allows orthodontists to monitor the growth of the jaw and recommend further orthodontic treatment if it becomes necessary. Not everybody receives early orthodontic treatment; in some cases it may be recommended that a patient wait to receive treatment.
  • What needs correction The amount of treatment needed to correct a problem will determine how long the process takes. Different patients react to treatments differently. While it may take one patient only 12 months to complete treatment, it may take another patient 24 months. Treatment times can vary depending on how quickly your body responds and how much work is needed to give you the show-stopping smile you expect.
  • YOU! Your willingness to use the appliances your orthodontist gives you plays a major role in the length of time it takes to complete your treatment. Always remember to take care of your braces and appliances; this truly will help make your treatment shorter!
  • Orthodontic braces are a big part of life for many people your age. While braces may have had a bad reputation in the past, today's braces make it easy to look good and feel good! Please contact our practice to schedule your next orthodontic checkup.

Orthodontic treatment is no longer just for teens. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists states that one in five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21. Many adults are choosing to receive treatment because they understand the importance of maintaining their health, and they want to feel better about their appearance. Adults everywhere are taking advantage of the opportunity to receive orthodontic care, and now you can too.

For many adults, the thought of having metal braces is enough to discourage them from receiving treatment. However, today's orthodontic treatment options offer a variety of braces and appliances that are comfortable, aesthetic, and customized to meet your needs. Types of braces include:

The main difference to remember when treating adults or children and teens, is that in younger patients the jawbones are still developing. For adults, these bones have stopped growing, which may mean the possibility of orthognathic surgery to align the jawbones. Other differences include:

  • Gum or bone loss (periodontal disease) Adults are more likely than children to experience gum recession or even bone loss due to gingivitis or advanced periodontal disease. Patients with straighter teeth are less likely to get gum disease.
  • Worn or missing teeth Over time teeth can become worn down and shift into different positions that can only be corrected with orthodontic care. Missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift and tilt, creating a bad bite and increasing the possibility of gum disease.
  • Incomplete orthodontic treatment as a teen Many adults received some orthodontic treatment as a child or teen, but never completed their treatment. As an adult, they choose to complete their orthodontic treatment to achieve the healthy, beautiful smile they always wanted.
  • Our practice also recognizes that adults and children have different needs, and require a different level of attention and care. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the most appropriate treatments, and that your needs are met with understanding and respect from us.

Dr. Covino did amazing work on both my son and my daughter, (and on me a few times) always with flexibility and expertise based on many years of experience. His professional knowledge and opinions were always right on target. His constant & early re-assessment of what was needed saved us treatment time and money. His staff, office, and availability to help with any questions or concerns at any point along the way were always exceptional and convenient to access -- even when the office was closed. Dr. Covino was exceptionally easy and pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend Dr. Covino for kids, families, and anyone who needs an experienced and professional orthodontist.
