Dr. Downing received his undergraduate studies from Brigham Young University. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Downing has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in Utah for over 25 years. He has received training in Endodontics, Implant Dentistry, Sedation, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and advanced training in Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute.

Dr. Downing enjoys listening to music, biking, hiking, relaxing with his wife Nancy when they both arent working at the dental office, being entertained by their 3 children and their spouses, and keeping up with their 6 grandchildrens activities.
Dr. Julian joined the Army as an active-duty dentist and began to gravel the world with his family. In 1999, he left active-duty and continued to serve in the Army as a reserve dental officer and started his private dental practice in Murray, Utah. Dr. Julian joined the faculty at Roseman College of Dental Medicine, where he now serves as a Patient Care Leader. He is also a directing member of the Dental Research Education Association.
Dr. Sommerville received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Utah. He attended dental school at Roseman University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine and graduated in 2018. After graduation, Dr. Sommerville started his dental career as an associate with Spring Dental in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the first 3 years. While in Oklahoma, Dr. Sommerville went on to complete continuing education courses. His focus was on Implants, Endodontic Therapy and Orthodontics using clear aligners.
What he loves most about general dentistry is having the ability to treat a broad range of pathology in helping patients with their oral health and cosmetic needs. He loves seeing patients find newfound self-confidence when they are happy with their smile.

My profession is my passion, and it is important to me to build a relationship of trust and communication and to take a teamwork approach to providing you with a healthy, beautiful smile.
Leslie has been in the dental field for the past eighteen years. For nine of those years, she worked as a pediatric dental assistant, and she has been practicing as a Registered Dental Hygienist since March of 2013. Leslie enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her husband, Philip and their three children, Ryker-13, Maximus-8 and Charlee-3.
Angela has been a dental hygienist at Cottonwood Family Dental for 8 years and in the dental field for 17 years. She started her dental career as a senior in high school by completing a dental assisting program. She loved the dental world so much she decided to go to hygiene school. When Angela isnt working, she likes to stay busy with hiking and running. She loves boating & traveling with her husband, Shawn and their two children, Eva and Theo.

Wendy graduated from the Utah College of Dental Hygiene in 2007. Since then she has worked in several private practice offices in Idaho and Utah. She also worked for several years with Sealants for Smiles, a nonprofit organization that serves underprivileged elementary school kids.

I hate going to the dentist! Like, I seriously HATE the dentist so much I hadn't gone in 15 years. But I LOVE this place! The people there are over the top cool and make you feel very comfortable and calm about getting worked on

I am happy to be one of the dentist at Cottonwood Family Dental. The office is comfortable and modern with the latest dental technology and friendly, competent team. Just had my teeth cleaned by Nini and Angela. They were gentle and efficient. I am happy for my patients to receive such great care.

They have been nothing short of wonderful. They are very caring, patient, and aware of my needs as a new patient with them. I initially came for a second opinion a couple weeks ago, and have now decided to use them as my regular dentist. They actually found that my tooth needed a root canal and crown, whereas my previous dentist told me I just needed a crown on the tooth next to the one that Dr. Downing found here. He actually did a test to see which one was causing me pain, and found that my previous dentist told me the wrong tooth needed work. He spent time and cared about my comfort and resolving my pain. They referred me for a root canal and when I came back here to get the temporary crown, they were as gentle as possible, even though I was I pain (not because of them, but because of the nature of the crown work). They are always friendly in person and on the phone. They have been awesome so far, so I imagine a regular cleaning will be just as good!

This was my 2nd time at Cottonwood dental as a walk in. My crown came off of my implant and just needed to be glued back on. The service there is fanonimal. Thank Dr. Downing and your assistants. In and out within 30 minutes.

I'm 64 years old and just had my first visit today at Cottonwood. It was by far,The best dental experience I've ever had! Very professional, very knowledgeable, very courteous, and everyone there made me feel important! I'm really glad to have found them!

Dentist messed up my tooth refused to fix it .sent me away nstead of fixing my tooth, worst dentist not a good family orientated business had to pull my family out as well he wants to do root canals and cavities if you have any other issues he won't be able to help you

We were very happy with our experience at Cottonwood Family Dental. One of my daughter's teeth was causing her a lot of pain and April was kind enough to get us in on short notice. Doctor Julian took great care of her and explained every step as he went.
