When a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone often is often affected over time. Patients without enough jaw bone mass are not candidates for dental implants. Bone grafting is often performed to reverse bone loss or enhance existing bone, allowing for the placement of dental implants after the bone graft has healed and created the necessary foundation for the implants.
Bone grafting for the purpose of rebuilding jaw bone to support dental implants can usually be done in our office. The surgeon may recommend that the grafting material be taken from the patients own bone or from another source. Synthetic material can also be used to generate bone growth. Bone grafting allows for proper support of dental implants or prostheses. Healing time prior to the placement of the implants is generally between 4 6 months, though it can sometimes take longer.

Extractions, soft tissue surgery, treating or preventing infections and other treatments are recommended and performed with the goal of keeping the mouth free of harmful bacteria, infection and inflammation helps to preventthe entry and spread of germs or illness.
Diabetes Research has indicated that people with diabetes are more at risk for developing gum disease and that diabetics who have advanced periodontal disease may experience some additional challenges in managing their blood sugar.
Dr. Stutts earned his undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple School of Dentistry in 2004. He completed his residency training at Columbia University School of Physicians and Surgeons, Harlem Hospital Center in New York.
Dr. Stutts has been an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in private practice since 2009 in New York and North Carolina. Following completion of his surgical training, Dr Stutts worked as an associate in lower Manhattan. After practicing in Manhattan for several years, Dr Stutts returned to his home State of North Carolina to open two private surgical centers which he operated successfully.
Several years ago, Dr. Stutts and his family relocated to New Jersey. He continues to practice oral maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on full mouth reconstruction with safety, patient comfort and care as the upmost priority.
Dr Stutts practices oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis ranging from wisdom teeth removal to reconstructive dental implant surgery. This expertise also involves the All on 4 technique in which he is highly respected, experienced and proficient. Dr Stutts has been a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a member of the North Carolina State Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has also been a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Stutts is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys spending quality time with his family.

My wife has extreme anxiety when it comes to dentists and she needed to schedule an emergency appoint with the doctor for a consult. Dr Costello was extremely kind, thorough and patient. He took the time to explain everything and was extremely honest and caring. Would recommend him hands down to anyone!

Not that I like going to the dentist but going to Costello in Franklin Lakes is always a pleasure! Everyone is very friendly and professional. Costello makes sure you are completely satisfied with his work. Definitely NO complaints and highly recommend his services.

This was a great experience getting a consult and scheduling my surgery, the office was very professional and the staff very welcoming when I met the Doctor he put me at ease during my consult and explained everything in detail and responded to questions as I had them. I felt welcomed and treated well, they are upfront with pricing clear transparency with everything., great staff.

My father recently had to have a tooth extracted, and due to the current pandemic and some recent complications with his heart, he was even more nervous for the procedure. Dr. Costello and his staff made him extremely comfortable during the procedure. When he got home he could not stop talking about how nice and great the "painless surgeon" was. My dad had a quick and painless recovery after having his tooth extracted. Thank you again Dr. Costello and staff!

Just had a tooth removed from this place. I'm one of those people who have nightmares about the dentist's office but this place made me totally rethink my fears. I was nervous when I learned I'd be awake for the procedure but didn't feel a thing at all really. They took great care of me and had a lot of patience for my mom with her 100 questions. Couldn't ask for a better experience honestly

Had a tooth extraction and grafting this morning. Dr Stutts ='s Amazing... I have been so anxious over this procedure and he made it painless and was very caring. I was so nervous about getting my tooth extracted. In the past, I had trouble with pain management and staying numb. Dr. Costello listened to all of my concerns and made sure I was comfortable. His offices are so clean and relaxing. His staff is really great. So kind and helpful. I also liked that they didn't rush me. I was treated as a priority, taking away some of the anxiety.

Dr. Costello & his staff took excellent care of my 89 year old father when he needed a tooth extracted. The procedure took less than 1/2 hour & my father was kept very comfortable. I couldnt wait to leave my review. Just got home from getting a tooth extraction. And even with it being a tooth extraction it was by far the best dental visit I have ever had Everyone in the staff is so nice and caring. They give you assurance and are always making sure you are ok. The most painful part was the injections of the novocain which was not even that bad. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back for future dental needs.

I cannot say enough good things. Office staff is incredible and thorough. Dr is equally such. You never feel rushed. All questions answered. Truly haven't had an experience this good at a doctors office. Definitely will never use anybody else

I had very good service experience, and I was deeply impressed. It was very easy and fast for me to schedule followup appointments, and everyone in the office was super friendly and patient. Dr. Kuang took only 15 minutes to remove my full bony impacted wisdom tooth with local anesthesia, and it went successfully. Dr. Milo even returned my call after office hour, when I had concerns about the postoperative procedures. Thank you!
