Corson Dentistry - General dentist in Denver, CO

This means to us our patients should be treated like family members, and we will always strive to make them feel that way. Comfort, Compassion and Convenience are the three pillars that our reputation will be built upon. By utilizing the technological advances available in the field of dentistry as well as staying abreast of all the newest clinical techniques, we know you will feel like one of the family.

For this moderate method, a drug is administered to the patient through a catheter or tiny needle placed in a vein within the inner elbow or back of the hand. The dentist can continually control the level of sedation throughout the process. This method is known as conscious sedation because the patient is not asleep nor unconscious, but in a semi-conscious or semi-awake state of reduced anxiety that allows them to relax and undergo necessary treatment.

In this way, IV sedation is distinct from general anesthesia, also called unconscious sedation, during which the patient is put into a sleep that wont be disturbed by painful stimulation or discomfort. During general anesthesia, a patient receives breathing support and their heart rate, blood pressure and pulse must be monitored.

Patients who receive IV sedation do not require medical assistance to support life-giving functions, but their vital signs are still monitored. The patient also has the ability to respond to verbal commands under IV sedation, although their speech may be impaired. Because the drug delivers an amnesic effect, however, the patient is likely to have little or no memory of the procedure.

By offering this experience in a safe environment, more patients who are prone to anxiety or fear, or who possess a dental phobia, can receive the important procedures they need with relative comfort.

In the dental industry, th most popular class of drugs used for IV sedation are benzodiazepines, which include diazepam (Valium), lorazepam (Ativan) and midazolam (Versed). Today, midazolam is most often used for dental procedures. Compared to other older drugs, it wears off faster, acts quicker and irritates the veins less. However, for certain patients, such as those with compromised liver function, lorazepam is a better option because it is metabolized in the bloodstream rather than by liver enzymes, as both midazolam and diazepam are.

In conjunction with the sedative medication, dentists frequently will include pain-reducers or opioid analgesics to control pain during and after invasive procedures. These also reduce the need for larger doses of sedative drugs.

Although sedation is targeted toward individuals who experience a keen sense of fear or trepidation when it comes to dental work, it also is suitable for those with sensitive teeth, a low pain threshold, antsiness or a sensitive gag reflex.

To offer IV sedation, dentists must be certified by the American Dental Association, complete the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) program and pass a comprehensive exam administered by their respective states dental board. Professionals also must regularly acquire additional hours of emergency training and continuing education to maintain their permit. For this reason, only a small percentage of dental offices offer this form of sedation.

Dr. Corson is a 2nd generation dentist who was born and raised in Parker, Colorado. Mike did his undergraduate studies in Fort Collins at Colorado State University. He then attended the prestigious Indiana University school of Dentistry graduating in 2001. Due to his academic success in school Mike was awarded the Health Professions Scholarship by the United States Army in 1997. Upon graduation Dr. Corson had the privilege and honor of serving his country in the post 9/11 era. While stationed at Fort Hood he gained advanced training in the areas of Oral Surgery and Endodontics working along side specialists on a daily basis. While there Mike served as the 1st Brigade Dental Surgeon for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

From March of 2004 to March of 2005 his unit deployed to the front lines of Sadr City, Iraq where he was responsible for the care of over 10,000 soldiers, civilians and contract workers. Upon returning from the war Dr. Corson and his wife moved to Scottsdale, AZ where Mike had the unique opportunity to train and work with one of the leaders in the world of cosmetic dentistry Dr Mark Peck. For the next 5 years Mike learned hands on how to deliver the highest quality cosmetic and full mouth rehabilitations while providing all the endodontic and implant surgical needs of the practice.

During those 5 years Mike performed hundreds of documented clinical cosmetic and implant cases. While in Scottsdale Mike also engaged himself in over 2,000 hours of additional advanced clinical education all over the United States. Mike was fortunate enough to be associated with the Scottsdale Center for Education where he currently serves as a faculty mentor teaching other dentists with the Frank Spear Institute a world recognized dental education center in the areas of cosmetics, occlusion and Full Mouth Rehabilitation.

As a general dentists his implant training is unprecedented having trained with the leaders in the field. In 2009 he graduated and became a Fellow of the Misch International Implant Institute after completing both the surgical and prosthetic programs and passing a written examination. In 2008 he attended a 10 month surgical implant program called the Medical College of Georgias Maxi Course where he achieved Associate Fellow Status with American Academy of Implant Dentistry after passing a rigorous written and oral examination by experts in the field of implant dentistry. During this time he also received his training in IV sedation. This also gave him Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He received Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry after passing another 500 question written examination that encompasses all areas of general dentistry. There are only a handful of dentists in the United States that have accumulated these kinds of credentials.

Because to Mike learning never ends and giving his patients the highest caliber of treatment he continues his efforts in higher education. Mike currently is pursuing accreditation status with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Master status with the American Academy of General Dentistry, Diplomate status with American Board of Oral Implantologists, Diplomate status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Mastership with the Misch International Implant Institute.

More important to Dr. Corson than all his awards and achievements are his beautiful wife and children. He has been married to his wife Kelsey for 12 years and in that time they have been blessed with 4 daughters named Quinn, Harper, Norrie, and Eddie. Dr. Corson and his family enjoy spending time in the mountains and near rivers doing some fly fishing. Mike also enjoys playing golf and cheering for the local sports teams with his friends.

Dr. Miller is a first generation dentist born and raised in Redmond, WA. He discovered from a very early age that he wanted to pursue a profession in the field of dentistry. Dr. Miller obtained his dental degree from Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. In his 3rd year at Midwestern, he traveled on a mission trip to the Kingdom of Tonga and helped provide much needed free dental care to the local population.

I was recently assigned a new dental hygienist after my usual hygienist left Corson Dentistry. My "new" dental hygienist did a good job with the cleaning and I was happy that there seems to be a consistent high quality/excellence among all of the dental hygienists at this practice. I highly recommend this practice for your dental needs.

Professionalism and kindness are the key factors to why I choose Dr. Miller and Corson Dentistry. Not only are these traits extended to their clients, but they're noticeably shared amongst the staff. Add to that the growing technology Corson Dentistry perseveres in keeping up with, why would I go anywhere else?

Michelle helped me with my cleaning appointment and it went very smoothly. She has helped me several times and it has always been comfortable... as much as being in the dentist chair can be comfortable.

Such a great experience! They were super friendly and welcoming and everyone - the woman administering the x-rays, hygienist and dentist - fully explained everything they were doing. I received a full tour of the office and was even offered a bottle of water on arrival.

I have had two dentists/offices that I loved in my lifetime, and a number that simply were not a good fit for me. Finally I have found another wonderful dental office and dentist! Kind and personable staff. Clear and honest communication. easy instructions and alerts while drilling, etc. No pressure, but next steps were prioritized clearly. Detailed dental exam and cleaning were very reasonably priced. Give Corson Dentistry on Yale at I-25 a try!

The team was very thorough. I was surprised my 2nd appt for just a cleaning took as long as it did (over an hour and a half) but felt like the hygienist and dentist were competent and addressed issues my former dentist never did
