Dr. Guk has been in the dental field since 1994. She started her career as a dental assistant and later on completed her dental hygiene degree. She received her bachelors from Pennsylvania College of Technology, her masters degree in biology at St. Joseph College in Connecticut and then graduated from University of Maryland Dental School. After graduating, she completed her fellowship in implantology. Dr. Guk enjoys spending time with her family, playing piano, culinary arts, and conducting a small band. Dr. Guk is the Dental Director of Hope Within Ministries.

Dr. Guk is certified in hard and soft tissue laser technology. The best in the class Solea laser is used extensively at the office. Dr. Guk performs numerous procedures using this laser, such as cavity preparations without local anesthesia, frenectomies for tongue tie cases, surgical removal of bone, surgical extractions, tightening of tissues to eliminate snoring, oral ulcer treatment, gum depigmentation, and much more.

Dr. Guk is a Fellow in the International Congress of Implantology. She uses 3D technology to plan implant placement with precision. This is accomplished by using 3D imaging, digital scan of teeth and jaws and 3D printing of surgical guides in the office. Implants closely resemble the patient's natural dentition and thus are a good alternative to replace missing teeth. Utilization of cutting edge technology allows for fast and precise placement of dental implants.

Dr. Guk is certified in myofunctional therapy. The goal of such therapy is to help create pretty faces without braces. Growth of bone and teeth position is dictated by the function of oral musculature, such as tongue and cheeks. With correct position and balance between these muscles it is less likely to have crowded teeth or underdeveloped jaws. In addition, myofunctional therapy allows for proper development of the patients airway. In children airway development is extremely important as obstruction or resistance in the airway can be associated with such medical conditions as ADHD, bed wetting, lack of focus, teeth grinding, acid reflux and others.

Dr. Guk places a big focus on non-surgical as well surgical periodontal therapy. The use of the Solea laser allows her to perform periodontal surgeries for tissue regeneration and healing. She also employs PRF (platelet rich fibrin) therapy. PRF tissue is obtained from the patients own blood. This therapy facilitates regeneration of soft and hard tissue with outstanding results. In addition, Dr. Guk utilizes GLO technology, which relies on the healing effects of photobiomodulation, and the ECO balance toothpaste. When accompanied by good oral hygiene, this treatment protocol has proven to be the most effective tool in periodontal disease treatment for many patients.

During a dental exam, the dentist or hygienist will clean your teeth and check for cavities and gum disease. The exam includes evaluating your risk of developing other oral problems and checking your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam might also include dental X-rays (radiographs) or other diagnostic procedures.

Fluoride helps prevent cavities in both children and adults. Fluoride concentrates in the growing bones and developing teeth of children, helping to harden the enamel on baby and adult teeth before they emerge. Fluoride also hardens the enamel on adult teeth that have already emerged, making the teeth more resistant to the acids in the mouth that cause decay.

Dental sealants are plastic coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from decay. The chewing surfaces have pits and fissures that can be deep, difficult to clean, and narrower than even a single bristle of a toothbrush, making these areas susceptible to cavities. Sealants provide an extra layer of protection and a smooth surface covering over these fissured areas.

Periodontal treatments can be surgical or non-surgical. The main purpose of these treatments is to arrest the disease progression by thoroughly cleansing the infected pockets around the teeth and to prevent further destruction of the surrounding bone. Maintaining a good dental hygiene routine at home is the prerequisite for any type of treatment.

A dental crown (cap) is placed over a damaged natural tooth or on top of a dental implant to restore appearance and function. On a natural tooth, the decay is removed, the tooth is prepared to create a platform and space for the crown. A digital image is made of the prepared tooth in order to fabricate a new crown. Crowns can be made out of tooth-colored materials like porcelain or precious metal like gold.

If patients prefer not to have dental implants to replace missing one or a couple of teeth, dentures and bridges are other options. Unlike dentures, Bridges are fixed, but adjacent teeth have to be prepared. Preparation involves contouring these teeth by removing the portion of tooth structure similar to a crown.

Dental veneers are very thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the facial surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the facial surfaces of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Root canal therapy, also called endodontic therapy, is a dental treatment to remove infection present inside the tooth. It also helps to protect the tooth from future infections. The treatment takes place in the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal.

Invented by NYC aesthetic dentist and world renowned oral health expert, Dr. Jonathan B. Levine, the GLO Teeth Whitening Device harnesses the power of Guided Light Optics (G.L.O.) technology to accelerate the whitening process - without sensitivity. This patented technology is available only from GLO Science and is registered with the FDA. It has been recognized with a Silver Edison Award for innovation and is the same teeth whitening technology used in thousands of dental practices. https://gloscience.com/

Dental Botox treatments can actually eliminate teeth grinding and clenching. When Botox is injected into the jaw muscles, it relaxes them and reduces their powerful force. Botox provides relief from facial pain and headaches associated with TMJ disorders and can block migraines from coming back for months at a time.

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a fibrin clot obtained from the patients own centrifuged blood for many dental surgical procedures such as tooth extractions, dental implants, and bone pathology. PRF accelerates the healing process and decreases surgical pain and swelling from implant placement and wisdom tooth removal.

We offer microneedling with PRF for face rejuvenation. Microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin for the purpose of generation of new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, and more toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may assist in treating various scars, wrinkles, and large pores. Such procedures are minimally invasive and provides a benefit of no downtime. We also offer Sculplla facial treatment, which is a needle-free filler for the face to fill in wrinkles and dehydrated facial skin.

  • Laser periodontal proceduresIn periodontal laser therapy, the dentist uses an infrared laser to access and remove the inflamed gum tissue from around the root of the tooth. When the infected tissue is removed and the root is exposed, the dental provider can remove the calculus (tartar), plaque, and bacteria that have accumulated below the gumline and around the root.

  • Gingival grafting proceduresFree gingival grafts involve moving tissue from the roof of the mouth to an area of the gums needing greater tissue attachment. Teeth with significant gum recession and exposed root surfaces benefit from this gingival grafting procedure.

Extractions are the removal of teeth from their dental alveoli (sockets) in the underlying bone. Extractions are performed when teeth are unrestorable because of severe tooth decay, periodontal disease, or trauma. Sometimes impacted wisdom teeth are removed when other conservative treatments have failed. Extractions are beneficial because they prevent infection and disease from spreading to the other healthy teeth in the mouth.

Bone grafting is a minor surgical procedure that may be performed in the dental office. An incision is made in the gums to gain access to the bone beneath it, and grafting material is added to correct the bony defects. The grafting material is either natural or synthetic bone around which the body will actually deposit new bone cells.

Dental implants have become the viable treatment option to replace missing teeth and are now referred to as the standard of care for natural tooth replacement. An implant is a small titanium device that serves as a substitute tooth root and helps to preserve the bone. During the healing process, the surrounding bone integrates with the implant, forming a secure foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Nitrous Oxide, known to many as laughing gas, is the most commonly used form of sedation in dentistry. It is administered and monitored by the doctor and involves inhaling gas to become completely relaxed. Nitrous oxide diminishes fear and anxiety, allowing the patient to sit back peacefully while the dental procedure is performed. It is very safe and effective and wears off quickly enough that you will probably be able to drive yourself home and return to your daily activities.

The Myobrace System is preventive pre-orthodontic treatment that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of crooked teeth, often without the need for braces or extraction of teeth, unlocking natural growth and development. Treatment is best suited to children aged 3 to 15 and involves using a series of removable intra-oral appliances that are worn for 1-2 hours each day plus overnight while sleeping.

Clear aligners, also called invisible aligners, are a type of orthodontic treatment that corrects misaligned or crooked teeth. They are a virtually invisible and removable alternative to braces designed around convenience and flexibility. Aligner trays are custom-built for every patient, depending on the severity of teeth misalignment (malocclusion).

I had a broken wisdom tooth that was causing me a lot of pain. I called and they had me in within 2 hours for an extraction. Everyone from the receptionist to the assistants and the doctor were very friendly, and not intimidating like some other dentists can be. Services were performed for an incredibly reasonable price, considering I had no dental insurance. I'll be calling this office for any future dental needs for my family.

If I could give 10 out of 10 stars I absolutely would! This might be a little long but reviews to me is what makes a business, along with good customer service ( my husband and I are business owners). So I'm beyond scared of the dentists this is the reason I'm in the situation I was in before coming into cornerstone. I was in serious pain for a week and when I could no longer take it anymore I decided to google dentist offices and I saw that cornerstone had 5 stars! And even though they are 45 minutes away from where I live the reviews are what made me call them ( literally my first call was to them no one else). I told them what was going on and they got me in Immediately! From the moment I walked in the doors customer service was 100% and the aesthetics of the office was beautiful and clean. The dentist herself was terrific! She knew I was beyond scared and I had a lot of bad stuff going on root canals and cavities everywhere! When I tell you I didn't even feel her numb my gums ( that was just awesome) and she was very patient with me. I will NEVER go to another dentist! Not to mention I had to go in the next day ( the day they were closed ) because the other side of my teeth were in pain. They literally opened just to help me, that just doesn't happen anymore with dentist or doctors for that matter. I'm so beyond greatful to her, her husband and staff! I will tell everyone and anyone about this place! Trust me if you choose cornerstone you will not be disappointed!

It was obvious to me that Dr. Guk takes great pride in what she does. I am a bit older and have been to many dentists over the years. She by far has been the best. She is very meticulous in her work and strives to do the best job possible!! Their facility is very clean, well maintained, and utilizes state of the art equipment.

So, as soon as you walk in you notice how clean the office is! Secondly, you are greeted by a very friendly staff member. Being that this was my first appointment here, the dental assistant gave me a tour of the clean and very modern office. I even had a consult with her and the dentist before my appointment even started! And then the appointment started.... I have NEVER had such a thorough exam from a dentist before! I mean Wow! And she gives you recommendations to get certain dental treatments done, she doesn't tell you that this and this will be done at your next appointment. I left with my mouth feeling the cleanest it has ever been. Hands down best dentist I have had! Highly recommended!

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had at the dentist. The facility is so modern, updated, and clean. Their examination was one of the most thorough I have ever had and I learned things that I never knew before. They have top notch technology that takes the fear out of going to the dentist. On top of that, all the staff is extremely professional, nice, and accommodating to my needs. Overall, it was a great experience

(Translated by Google) Very impressed with the design of the office. All work is tastefully done. And nice colors. I would say that this is not an office, but a home where you feel good. Comfortable. Calmly. Lots of greenery and life. There is no fear and doubt before going to the doctor Elena. In the lobby you are greeted by a friendly and helpful professional staff. When the time comes for your appointment, the doctor meets you and invites you with a joyful smile and a kind heart, in which there is a lot of care and warmth for the client. And this is not feigned, but naturally, which is currently a rarity. The doctor's work speaks for itself. High skill, great practice, accurate and unmistakable approach to a particular dental problem. Coming to this place you will get good and professional help. And get good satisfaction for your soul. This was my son's first visit to the dentist and it was a fun and positive experience thanks to the staff here. He loved it so much that he is now playing dentist with all of his favorite stuffed animals at home.
