Dr. Ryan Hussong is passionate about bringing personal, comfortable, high-quality dental care to patients in Polk City and surrounding areas. Each year, he completes numerous continuing education courses, including advanced training in childrens, prosthodontic, andimplant dentistry.

After receiving his bachelors degree in biology fromSt. Olaf Collegein Northfield, MN, Dr. Hussong went on to earn his dental degree from theUniversity of Iowa, College of Dentistry. He is a member of theAmerican Dental Association,Iowa Dental Association,Academy of General Dentistry,American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and serves on the Board of Directors for theIowa AGD.

Your family comes first at Cornerstone Dental, but outside of the office, Dr. Hussongs family comes first! He also enjoys the outdoors, hunting, snowmobiling, and motor sports. A fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, football season gets special attention, as well.

Ever since middle school, Dr. Hussong knew that he had a passion for dentistry and wanted to pursue it professionally. After receiving his Bachelors degree from the University of Iowa in 1974, he accomplished his dream and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry in 1978.

Dr. Hussong makes continuing education the foundation of his career. Although he performs a full range of general dentistry services, he does have areas of special expertise. Dental implants, which were once considered the wave of the future, have become a routine component of his practice. He is one of the few general dentistsqualified to perform all phases of the dental implant procedure, including the initial surgery and final restoration.

Dr. Hussong is a member of the American Dental Associationserving as a trustee, board member and past chairman of the continuing education committee for his states dental association. He belongs to the American Academy of General Dentistry and various dental societies and study clubs. In 1989 Dr. Hussong was issued a patent for a dental suction device.

Chelsea joined our team as a Dental Hygienist in 2015, after graduating fromDMACCwith a degree in Dental Hygiene. She is also specially certified in local anesthesia and administration of nitrous oxide.

Chelsea is known for having a friendly, gentle touch and demeanor with all of her patients, and she thoroughly enjoys educating and motivating patients to reach and maintain their oral health needs and goals. She is a member of theAmerican Dental Hygiene Association and the Iowa Dental Hygiene Association.

Lesley joined our team as a registered dental assistant in 2015. She attended theDes Moines Area Community Collegeand earned a degree in Dental Assisting in 2014. Patients love her bright smile and friendly attitude. She loves getting to know her patients and seeing smiles on their faces when they leave. She has volunteered to teach kids duringDental Awareness Monthand volunteered at theIowa Special Olympics.

She is also an IMOM volunteer. She is originally from Deloit, Iowa and has a dog named Bowzer. Outside of the office she enjoys playing tennis, camping, fishing, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Denver Broncos. Favorite quote:Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.

Outside of the office, she loves spending time with her other half and three beautiful daughters. She also likes being outdoors and watching football. Favorite quote:Every day may not be good, but theres something good in every day.

Racheljoined our team as our front office coordinator in 2015after graduatingwith a degree in Office and Business Administration.She loves seeing familiar faces, and building lasting relationships with all of our patients.

Rachel regularlyvolunteersat elementary schools throughout the community performing fun oral health presentations for the children, and loves spending time with her husband and their daughter, Reagan. She has two dogs, Zoey and Piper, who are also very much a part of the family.

Kris joined our Polk City office in 2016. She is also a Registered Dental Assistant with specialcertifications in Expanded Functions. Patients love that she is caring, outgoing, and treats them likefamily.

She appreciates the chance to get to know her patients so she can serve them better. She is amember of her church and has volunteered with dental missions in Kenya as a team leader, conductingseven mission trips since 2008. Her family includes three sons, three daughter-in- laws, eightgrandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Outside of the office she enjoys community service, familyactivities, and participating in missions.
