Since graduating from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with honors in 2010, Dr. Al-Samarrai worked as an Associate Dentist throughout Texas and California, and has served as faculty staff for the USC Dentistry Division of the Skid Row Homeless Healthcare Initiative before settling into practice here. Dr. Al-Samarrai has also been honored by the UCLA Neuroscience division, UCLA TIDE Program, and the Torrance Sister City Association.
Apart from his work in dentistry, Dr. Al-Samarrai has worked as an Online Marketing Manager, a Business Analyst, a Research Assistant for UCLA, and camp counselor at Pepperdine University. He has also served as Social Media Coordinator for the Tufts University Alumni, participated in charity runs, including the South Bay Childrens Hospital 5k Charity Run and USC-UCLA sponsored We Run the City charity drive for Southern California Special Olympics, along with volunteering with the California Dental Association.
I am very proud to say that I have been a registered and certified Dental Assistant for over 25 years! I am currently serving as the Vice President of the San Fernando Valley Dental Assistant Society. I am originally born and raised in Everett, Massachusetts. I was able to serve my country for four years in the United States Air Force. In my free time, I enjoy playing softball and hiking.
I have been married for over 20 years to my husband who is an elementary school principal. We are proud parents and our daughter just started college. I enjoy regularly attending church and the gym and in my down time (if I have any) I love to read.
In my earlier years, I was fortunate to receive a full softball scholarship to the University of New Mexico where I played for two years with the Women's Professional Fastpitch. I have been married for close to 30 years and we have two beautiful daughters who are growing up quick. I love taking trips camping in our trailer. The coolest thing my family does though would have to be our Pirate special effects show at our home during Halloween.

Our family lives in CT, but our kids are in college in Santa Clarita. My son developed an issue with an endo treated tooth and we needed to find a good dentist fast. I will *not* go to a chain l (ahem: Western Dental) after a horrible experience about a decade ago. I relied heavily on reviews to find this practice. Though they only ended up doing xrays and a quick exam, I were really happy with the care. Faye (receptionist) was great, listened to me ramble on like an anxious mom, helped with insurance questions, etc. We saw Dr. Samurai as Dr. Poitras was not in that day (but Faye made sure I knew ahead of time). After looking over the xrays, Dr. Samurai sent us down the hall to Dr. Gim at Apical Endodontics, which was down the hall and got us in RIGHT then and there for a consultation (also very pleased with them). Later that night, I got a VM from Dr. Samurai checking up on my son, and leaving me his cell phone in case we had any questions. I am so impressed with our experience at this practice, and should we have another dental emergency on any of our future visits to California, we would return to Copper Canyon Dentistry without hesitation.
