Dr. James M. Cooper earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit and has been practicing dentistry in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan since 1984. Dr. Coopers training and certificates apply to all aspects of dentistry. He regularly attends postgraduate courses throughout the United States to stay educated on the latest techniques and procedures.
Past extensive programs Dr. Cooper has graduated from are: the Misch International Implant Institute's Surgical and Prosthetic Programs, the California Center for Advanced Dental Studies (CCADS), Chicago Center for Esthetic Excellence, the University of Michigan Advanced Crown and Bridge Preceptorship and the University of Detroit Periodontal Surgical Continuum.
Dr. Cooper voluntarily served six terms (1999-2011) as an elected official on Grosse Pointe Shores Village Council as Trustee, Village President, and the first Mayor when the Village became Michigan's newest City in 2009.

I would "NOT" advise using Cooper for anything more then general dentistry. He "tried" to do an implant on me and it cost me $10,000.00 and a year of work to have his work fixed by oral surgeons.

Dr. Cooper recently completed an implant for me and it was an awesome experience. The facility and technology are state of the art, the staff is like family, and Dr. Cooper is an expert at what he does. It's difficult to imagine a more positive experience. Highly recommend.

Such a great dentist and staff. Not only did they give me my smile back, but gave me renewed confidence. I had to have extensive work done and they made it easy for me. I would never go anywhere else.

Can't say enough wonderful things about this office. I'm terrified of the dentist and haven't been in almost 20 years. I knew that I had to bite the bullet and go. The doctor, receptionist and hygienist are all so compassionate and knowledgeable. They made me feel so comfortable and I never felt judged once. My first cleaning was a very emotional experience. My anxiety was thru the roof and of course I ended up crying and my hygienist literally wiped my tears away, She was so kind and gentle. We took a few breaks, so I could take a few deep breaths to regroup. She talked me through everything and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I made an appointment for my husband and he was beyond thrilled with his experience as well. We will definitely be life long patients. Hopefully Dr. Cooper doesn't plan on retiring any time soon ;)

Dr. Cooper and his staff are exceptional professionals. As a patient with severe dental anxiety, they were compassionate and more than understanding, meeting me right where I was. As a Registered Nurse, I pay close attention to details, always assessing and observing, and I was pleased and impressed beyond measure, in numerous ways. Dr. Cooper and his staff are seasoned in their profession, and most definitely trustworthy.
