We want to share some great news! Dr. Tyner has passed his comprehensive board exam administered by the American Board of Orthodontics meaning he is officially a Board Certified Orthodontic Specialist!
This is truly a huge accomplishment because less than 6% of dentists are orthodontic specialists and only 10% of these orthodontic specialists are board certified by the ABO! It is also very rare for an orthodontist to complete their board certification this early in their career!
Dr. Canaan B. Tyner was born in Glens Falls, NY and graduated from Saratoga Central Catholic High School. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine at Pepperdine University and his dental degree at the University of Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. He then continued his education at Montefiore Medical Center where he received his certificate of specialty training from the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
In addition to traditional orthodontics,his education included extensive trainingin clear aligner therapy, adult orthodontic treatment, and orthodontics in combination with orthognathic surgery. During residency, Dr. Tyner also conducted research analyzing the accuracy and effectiveness of digital scanning and digital model analysis. He is excited to use this knowledge and to continue to explore the latest in technology in order to offer our patients the most comfortable and efficient orthodontic treatment
Dr. Tyner and his wife, Dr. Christina OBrien, a general dentist, are excited about their return to the Capital District where they both grew up. Dr. Tyner is thrilled to be able to serve the community that has given him so much.

I highly recommend Cooney orthodontics innTroy. Everyone there is so nice and friendly. Dr. Tyner and Jen D answered all my questions during my initial visit about getting Invisalign. I am now looking forward to getting fitted for my Invisalign. So glad I took that first step, and you will too.

Cant' recommend them enough! I was brand new to the area and needed a consultation at an Orthodontist. A quick google search and reedit feed led me to Cooney and they were fantastic! It was extremely easy to get in touch with them over the phone and make an appointment. Once there, I saw Dr. Tyner and New Patient Coordinator Ansley. They were professional, kind, thorough, and extremely welcoming. When I made the appointment, I was told the first consultation would be free, but I was skeptical. They were true to their word, though. I received full x-rays and a consultation for free. They also gave me recommendations for local dentists in the area when I told them I just moved here. I ended up not needing any further help from them, but if I did, I would absolutely feel safe and comfortable going back to Cooney Orthodontist!

Mix review. They are fantastic UNTIL you pay them off. I payed my remaining balance of a few thousand dollars off and suddenly my teeth were done. I said I didn't feel they are were done and thought I needed two more trays. After being convinced this was as good as my teeth were going to get I was left disappointed that I wasted so much to still not want to open mouth smile. I went to go get a few implants as planned in the back and was told I had to wait until my orthodontics were done(they were done according to Dr.Clooney) I've been to a few places since that quote me another 2-4 aligners for straight teeth. DO NOT PAY YOUR BALANCE UNTIL Y0U ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUR TEETH

Best Ortho ever. The entire office has a way of making you feel comfortable. I made the mistake of not wearing my retainer the first time around and needed to get braces a second time. The second time around my schedule was super crazy but Dr. Cooney was able to fit me in. I would recommend Dr. Cooney to any and everyone!!!!

And altho Ortho is expensive, Dr.Cooney is reasonable and saved me a lot of money (as additional, unneeded treatment was recommended by another Ortho).
