Continuing education and dental advocacy are very important to Dr. Derek. After completing his residency, he took the additional steps to become a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and he holds active Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
Dr. Derek met his wife, Courtney, during middle school and they married in 2000. They have two amazing, young sons, Gabe and Ty, who keep them very busy! Together they enjoy Texas Longhorn athletics, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and Colorado Avalanche, as well as all of the beauty and recreation available in this gorgeous state of Colorado. Dr. Derek is an avid outdoorsman, and you can usually find him fishing the mountain reservoirs or hunting large game. He is also a musician and loves to play guitar for his church band.
Dr. Derek is excited to open Colorado Springs newest, most state-of-the-artpediatric dentalpractice. It is his strong desire that together he and his staff will partner with families to provide care that is age-appropriate, compassionate, and fun!

My daughter was born with no enamel. We've been to ALL the dentists and stopped our searching after we found cool mountain kids! We are SO thankful we found dr Derek and his team. They are beyond patient with her and I recommend them to everyone family I know. They are so wonderful with accommodating her and her anxiety.

This is a great pediatric dentist. They really make it an enjoyable experience with their training, the TVs on the ceiling, headphones, sunglasses, new toothbrushes, and the toy machine. My kids regularly ask when we are going back to the doctor with the TVs and toys.

We love this office so much! All the staff are so kind and friendly and Dr. Derrick is great with my kiddos and also has great bedside manner. The front staff made sure I got a note for my daughter's school (I would have definitely forgotten) and are always so helpful. The prize selection for the kids is great and my kids look forward to their appointments every time. We moved from another office after being their for 6 years and we could not be happier with the switch.

We received a referral from our previous dentist for some work to be done on my daughter, who has had such major anxiety with any dentist we've been too. Dr. Derek took the time to answer all our questions and help ease my daughters mind and build the trust between each other. No other dentist in the last 4 years had actually taken the time to walk her through the process and build that trust and this is one of the biggest reasons I'll continue to come here. The whole staff was great as well and made not only myself but my daughter feel comfortable and confident through the whole process! I want to shout out Amanda for how gentle she was but also how encouraging she was towards my daughter and there is one other gal but I forget her name, she was also very informative and encouraging to both of us.

To say I'm extremely picky about the care my children receives is a understatement and this places exceeds my expectations and then some I highly recommend them our dental assistants today were Makayla,Melissa and Cynthia they were supper sweet and patient with all three of my children

This dentist office is amazing! The staff, dentist, decor and cleanliness! Today I took my daughter in and in 30 seconds they were able to tell me what has been causing my daughter pain for over a year. Our last dentist said it was in her head. I had to bring my younger daughter last minute and they were so sweet to her too! I'm switching all my kids! Update: A year later all my kids go and they are still amazing!

We love this office. We have been going here for about 5 years now for our two daughters. The entire staff is so friendly and always make the experience really comfortable and happy for my girls and us as parents. You can tell Dr. Derek has you and your child's best interests at heart and he is just an amazing dentist. I always recommend them to any friends and family.
