Dr. Michael Tesmer is a native Floridian who earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida. He continued his post-graduate periodontal training at UF, completing a three year residency in periodontics. He served as Chief Resident and was very involved in academic instruction, community service, lecturing and investigational research. He is also published in the Journal of Periodontology with an article on dental implants.
He remains very active in the UF College of Dentistry where he serves as courtesy faculty in the periodontology department. He has a caring and genuine rapport with his patients and his team. LANAP is a gentle, conservative, non-invasive method of treating gum disease without cutting, suturing or removing tissue. Using a precision laser, we are able to kill up to 99% of the disease causing bacteria in the periodontal pockets. Because there is no defense against the laser, the bacteria can not adapt and avoid elimination as with anti-biotic treatment.
Additionally, the precision of the laser allows Dr. Tesmer and Dr. Langston to avoid removing significant tissue. This allows for a faster recovery and minimal loss of tooth and bone structure after the procedure.
Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.In its advanced stages the gums can become red and tender. They can also bleed when you brush your teeth. Many people also experience bad breath and an unpleasant taste.
Unchecked, periodontal disease becomes much more serious and deep pockets of bacteria develop. This bacteria eats away at the jawbone which supports your teeth. Periodontal bacteria also enter the blood stream and contribute to many other medical problems. Without treatment, the periodontal pockets deepen, resulting in tooth loss.

Dr. Langston and his team are top notch! I had a root removal today and was a bit nervous about it. They took me through the process. Lucy kept me company chatting with me to take my mind off of it. Dr. Langston's knowledge and expertise is the reason the procedure went way better than expected...he knows his stuff!!! The girls at the desk are very kind and professional! I am very thankful that my dentist recommended and referred me to Dr. Langston at Contemporary Periodontics & Implant Dentistry! If the need arises again I will not hesitate to choose them! As I was finishing this review Dr. Langston called to check on me...WOW! Just validated my positive experience. If I could give 10 stars I would!

I felt welcomed and relaxed from the first moment I walked in the office. Everyone is professional and warm. Dr Tesmer was extremely detailed and gental during my examination. I am grateful I was referred to him. I highly recommend Contemporary Periodontics to everyone.

I had gum surgery on three molars (Important teeth to keep healthy) yesterday. The lengthy procedure was a challenge for me, and for Dr. Tesmer and is his highly professional surgical assistant. Today I am following the detailed, helpful, easy to follow will instructions for recovery. No questions for me in the follow-up, which is a very important item for me. My husband will bring Dr. Yes met in the next weeks and I am confident he receive excellent attention and care just as I have. From staff to technical and surgical assistants right up to Dr. Tesmer you will find professional attention, process and care.

I was referred to Dr Tesmer after breaking my teeth in a fall. The receptionist was kind enough to work me in that day. Dr Tesmer was so knowledgeable and took his time evaluating me and answering any questions. Then he worked me into his surgery schedule at the end of the day a couple days later. Dr. Tesmer and a couple Tesmer ended up having to stay very late. I felt bac but they took it all in stride. I can't say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Tesmer and all the Staff at Contemporary Periodontics! What a great Team!!

This office really ensures you're comfortable and informed about your procedure! Vanessa was amazing every time I saw her, friendly, caring, and gentle. While going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do, Dr Tessmer was kind and caring and the staff at the office is excellent! Dr Tessmer followed up in the evening with me to ensure I was doing ok. If you have the need, don't hesitate to choose Dr Tessmer, you won't be disappointed.

my wife & I are patients of Dr.s Langston & Tesmer. They provide excellent care and always are attentive to our oral health needs. The doctors are thorough and keep up to date with the latest professional knowledge and current treatments in periodontics and implants. Pam our hygienist is most diligent in her examination of my mouth and thorough cleaning our teeth with concern for our comfort during treatment. The office manager Tracy is very professional and supervises the office so that it always runs efficiently and on time.
