At Contemporary Dentistry, our first step is to listen to you. We want to hear what you have to say about your oral health. This goes beyond just describing your symptoms. We want to know how you feel, physically and emotionally. Thats because we believe in holistic, patient-centered dentistry. We treat every patient as a whole person, and utilize treatment techniques and approaches that benefit your whole health, not just your dental health.

Most dental patients have some level of anxiety. Thats why we include a dental fear screening questionnaire for every new patient. Even if youre the grin and bear it kind (or, more appropriately, the bare your grin kind), we encourage you to answer the questions honestly so we can help you be comfortable.

Many people think that the only way to deal with dental anxiety is sedation dentistry. We offer sedation dentistry, but we also understand that there are many relaxation strategies short of sedation. If we know the sources of your anxiety, we can help by customizing your treatment.

Of course, we have designed our office to be a superbly relaxing environment, but if there are particular amenities that can make your experience more relaxing, let us know. We can also change communication. If hearing more details helps you relax, we can explain everything minutely. If details make you nervous, we can explain the procedure generally. We can do your procedure quickly, if thats best, or take our time if that helps you relax.

Our dentists strongly embrace the philosophy of patient-centered care. We work hard to anticipate and respond to all our patients needs, and that requires that we be superbly trained in the full breadth of the latest options for your dental procedures so we can offer them to you. Learn about the training and compassion of our dentists.

Dr. Messer from Contemporary Dentistry in Rochester, New York is hands down The best dentist I have ever been to! She and her team intentionally take thorough steps to ensure that I am comfortable in every way at every visit. From the moment I first called the team at Contemporary Dentistry, they made me feel valued and understood. After my initial call, they had me answer a list of questions about myself, including my dental goals, fears and concerns. During the initial in-person consultation, they asked specific questions to address any and all of my fears and concerns, and answered all of my questions in comprehensive detail. They did everything to make sure they understood my specific needs before continuing with the meeting. During our first meeting they got full X-rays, and scanned for 3D images of my mouth. They explained in detail what was currently going on inside my mouth, and everything they could do for me based on my dental goals that were explained during the phone call follow-up. Everything I have wanted done for my teeth for over 25 years of my life have been addressed, and are being taken care of with this team. I have never been so heard, respected and taken care of by any other dentist as I have at Contemporary Dentistry. At this practice, these experienced and ever-learning professionals utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure they give the most effective service possible. When I mentioned how impressed I was with this, the technician assisting me expressed that their office emphasizes the importance of continually learning in order to stay on top of the most advanced practices to provide the best possible care for their patients.

I'm so grateful I found this practice! I came to Contemporary Dentistry from another practice that informed me during a dental cleaning, that I had four cavities, in either wisdom teeth or molars, three of which were under existing fillings. I was told I needed to have the wisdom teeth pulled, which is not what I had wanted. When I came to Contemporary Dentistry, Dr. Messer did a beautiful job with all of the fillings. And I do think they were quite challenging, as they were under existing fillings and quite deep. I appreciated her competence and persistence filling these hard to reach cavities that I had. I never had any residual pain after the procedures, and I appreciated Dr. Messer and her staff's willingness to make sure I was comfortable during the procedures, offering me Chapstick, weighted blankets, tv to watch, or blankets just to keep me warm. I also appreciated the use of technology that she employed to make my experience more fluid and positive, yet it did not seem extraneous. In other offices I'd been to, the additional use of technology seemed unnecessary and/or ineffective for the intended purpose . I also came to this practice because Dr. Messer employs additional protocols for removing amalgam fillings (containing mercury ) that protect the patient, as well as the staff, from ingesting or being exposed to the mercury, as it's being removed. Since I was having amalgam fillings removed and replaced with composite, non-mercury based fillings, and have suffered with autoimmune issues in the past, this was of the utmost importance to me and was quite a relief to know that I didn't have to worry about any mercury particles making their way into my body! I did end up having to have one wisdom tooth removed due to the depth of the decay, and was quite anxious about this, as it was the first extraction I'd had, but Dr. Geminiani (periodontist) did a wonderful job with this procedure as well, and I also had no pain during or after the extraction. He was also very patient with me, explaining the procedure to me, as well as answering all of my questions. I also appreciate the additional consultation, research, product recommendations, as well as samples, I have been given for natural alternatives for dental and oral healthcare during this time from this practice. This is truly a kind, yet very competent practice, and I think that is a rare combination to find in today's world! I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for cutting edge, progressive, yet compassionate care with their oral health.

I hate going to the dentist... But I finally found a dentist I don't dread going to. All of the staff are the friendliest, sweetest, and caring group of people. They go the extra to make you feel comfortable. I originally picked them because they offer sedation as Novocaine didn't seem to work. However, I agreed to try juat Novocaine with them. I have had 4 fillings and a tooth removed and didn't feel it. And of course again the sweetest ppl.

I have major dental anxiety after having some poor experiences as a child. This is the first time I walked into a dentists office in over a decade, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, they made me feel so at home. Dr. Messer thoroughly examined me and was gentle and kind the entire time. She told me I just needed a good cleaning and I should be good! I was so relieved. There was no shaming from any staff about me not having been to the dentist in so long, everyone was extremely understanding. I was able to come in for a cleaning the very next day and was taken care of by Samantha. She was a dream to work with. She frequently checked in to see if I was feeling comfortable, and she was sure to be gentle while also being thorough. When I saw my teeth afterwards I was amazed. I couldn't (and still can't) believe how incredible they look, and all with little to no discomfort or pain during cleaning! I finally have a smile that I love again, and I cannot thank Dr. Messer, Samantha, and the rest of the Contemporary Dentistry staff enough for giving me peace of mind and confidence with my smile again. I am so very grateful to have found this practice.

I am a contractor by trade and I've suffered plenty of cuts and bruises including putting my thumb into a table saw all the way to the first knuckle Right up the middle and I calmly wrapped it and drove myself to the hospital. I have an enormous tolerance to pain, except when it comes to the dentist and the needles in the gums I turn into a big baby !!!b On Monday October 12th I went to contemporary dentistry to have a tooth pulled. I asked for gas and they explained it would make the time longer and as a self employed contractor time is valuable so I opted for no gas. It turned out that I needed 2 teeth pulled. They started with a banana flavored numbing agent prior to the Novocain and I must say that not only did I not feel the needles I also never experienced Any pain during the pulling of the teeth. After the appointment I took 2 Advil and I never felt any pain at any time Later that day or even the next day. As far as I can see and feel they are the MVP's of the dentistry field. I recommend them and I will refer them whenever possible. I suggest after reading this that you book an appointment I guarantee you'll be ecstatic that you did.

Most of my adult life I have had a fear of dentists. That has changed since I have been a patient at Contemporary Dentistry. The entire experience from the minute you walk in the door to the follow up is top rate. Everyone goes out of their way to make patients feel comfortable and well cared for. Dr. Belous is a very fine dentist and her work has been spectacular. I would recommend this practice to anyone who is seeking quality and caring care and expert dentistry.

I can't saw enough good things about Contemporary Dentistry between the staff, Arlene Messer, Harold, Jen...just a few of them & how friendly, considerate, caring & helpful they are to the comfort/attention you get the minute you step into their office. I've had so many terrible experiences at a few other dentists & not only did Dr. Messer calm me down & reassured me that they will fix my situation, but they are actually interested in talking with me about the bad experiences & fears at the dentist & they take the time to make sure you are completely comfortable. They have a great team & they all work together so every patient's needs are met. They address your concerns & in a quick Manor. Just when I hit rock bottom, they picked me up & came up with a plan for me & I actually feel like I can breathe now. I know I am in good hands. I am so thankful I found them! I will never go anywhere else!

I initially moved over to Contemporary dentistry at the recommendation of my wife. I had been going to the same dentist all my life, and only made a change because I moved much farther away from their office. Contemporary made the transition seamless and made me feel just as well cared for as I felt at my old dentist who I had a 20+ year relationship with. They have turned me on to several cleaning techniques which have drastically improved my oral health. Highly recommend!

I've been going to Contemporary Dentistry (Dr. Messer) for about a decade now, and have never had a bad experience. More than that, I've come to actually LOOK FORWARD to going! Why? Let me count the ways: 1) beautiful, soothing waiting room; 2) alert, responsive receptionists; 3) professional, courteous, thoughtful hygienists and dental assistants; 4) empathic, sensitive, meticulous, and hugely competent Dr. Messer.

This is such a great practice. The front desk staff is really great. Friendly, knowledgeable. I really like my dentist and appreciate her availability during a holiday weekend when I had an emergency. The office hours are good and the office itself is clean, bright and in a convenient location.

The staff are friendly and engaging, and they've created a pleasant atmosphere. I enjoyed the relaxing music played in the exam room. Sue did a wonderful job with my cleaning, taking care with the sensitive areas. They're very good about recommending ways I can better care for my teeth.

Dr Belous and the staff at Contemporary Dentistry are the most caring group of dental health care professionals I have ever encountered. They do things that I have never seen offices do before. They will offer chapstick if your lips are dry, they will ask you if you want to wear headphones and listen to music if they have to do work on you, they will really wait until the numbing medicine is working and not just start right away like other places. They also offer other services, I have been thinking about braces and would absolutely do it here under the guidance of Dr Belous!

I only have been in for my initial consultation but so far they have been great. They suggested some great homeopathic solutions without abandoning the science expected of professional doctors. They were friendly and even work with my insurance. Overall a great first impression will update if first cleaning in March 2020 is any different.
