Born and raised in Southwestern, PA, Dr. Jason Choorapuzha grew up in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, attended Central Catholic High School and graduated from Fox Chapel High School. He studied at the University of Pittsburgh on a full academic scholarship, earning a BS in Psychology and a BA in Philosophy. He has fond memories of rising extremely early in order to train and race as a coxswain on the prestigious University of Pittsburgh rowing club.
Oakmont dentist, Dr. Choorapuzha received his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he was honored to serve for two years as his class Vice President and then for two years as his class President. He was initiated into the prestigious Sigma Chapter of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity and in his fourth year he received the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award.
Following dental school, Dr. Choorapuzha completed his General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. During the one-year residency, he received top honors for his speech Kidney Disease and the Dental Practitioner at the Minnesota Dental Associations Star of the North Meeting. It was also during this time that Dr. Choorapuzha met his wife, Lydia.
After working for three years for a non-profit dental group in Minneapolis, specializing in geriatric and special needs patients, Dr. Choorapuzha returned to Pittsburgh. He is enjoying getting to know the community and being a dentist in Oakmont. He resides in the North Hills with his wife and their young sons, Mark and Adam.
Dr. DeFilippo is a native of Pittsburgh, having graduated from Central Catholic High School in Oakland. He received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh, having served as President of the Biology Undergraduate Association. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Pitt as well.
He served his residency in general practice at the United States Public Health Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. After residency, he served two years in the National Health Service Corps, providing healthcare to the under-served of rural America.
After practicing as an associate in a general practice, he opened his private practice in Oakmontat the same time, he accepted a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
He taught at the University as a part time faculty member for twenty years, last serving as an Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics and director of Occlusion, where he taught the pre-doctoral students as well as lecturing to the residents in maxillo-facial prosthodontics.
While remaining in private practice, he continues to teach dental students in the preceptorship program in the School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh through the Catholic Charities Clinic as well as lecturing the General Practice Residents at Allegheny General Hospital.

Susie did a great job cleaning my teeth today! Very gentle but thorough. Dr Jason is always very helpful as he reviews my teeth, telling me what he's doing and what he's looking for! Kelly is always so nice and helpful at the front desk. The place is so clean, bright and cheerful! Would never go anywhere else!

My family and I have been patients of this dental practice for over 40 years. The practice was started by Dr. Defillipo who had a reputation for his kindness, patience and dental knowledge. He was amazing and took good care of our dental needs for many years. Word of his possible retirement was very concerning to all of his patients - but - Dr. Jason was introduced to the practice and he immediately gained the trust, respect and praise of the patients. Dr. Jason under the name of Connections Dental continues to offer his patients the best in dental care - we are very lucky to have him!

I've been going to Dr. Jason's office for the past several years. His staff is incredibly friendly and they always make sure I am comfortable during my visits. It's the best dental practice in the Pittsburgh area!!

I cannot recommend Connections Dental highly enough. Dr. Jason is the kindest, most thorough dentist I have ever dealt with and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They're also located in a residential area which makes parking super easy. A++

If you're looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend Connections Dental of Oakmont. The staff is friendly, understanding, and they explain everything thoroughly. They made me feel very comfortable and eliminated my anxiety. I cannot say enough good things about them.

I never thought someone could fill Dr D (DeFillipos) shoes. Dr D really made a fantastic choice with Dr Jason. Dr. Jason is absolutely fantastic! I have been seeing him since he joined with Dr D, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr Jason. You can tell he really cares about his patients. When he is working on your teeth there is zero pain during and after. Then in the evening expect a call from Dr. Jason to see how you are doing. The whole staff is friendly and helpful which makes going to the dentist painless. Brian

I've been going to DeFillipos, now Connections Dental, since I was 5 years old, now I'm in my 40s. Dr. Jason has largely taken over the practice and he's fantastic. He is very accommodating and always asked if you're doing well. He even calls to make sure all is well later in the evening after more than one appointment. You can tell he genuinely cares about people and that's important and truly an exception in today's times. I don't immediately live in the area, but I won't change dentists because this place is the best!
