Dr. Fandel became a dentist because of his love of the medical field. However, in his youth he was very good with his hands, whether it was building things like models or helping his father work on their family car, and he decided that he wanted a career where he could use his passion and skills to help people.
Dr. Fandel attended The University of Mississippi, from 1983 to 1986 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He entered the Air Force Dental Corps in July 1991 after receiving his DMD from the University of Mississippi, Jackson. Dr. Fandel retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel having been stationed abroad in Guam, Germany and Romania. As a dental professional in the Air Force Dental Corps he participated in Operation Pacific Haven and Super Typhoon Paka Humanitarian efforts and also was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq to support the second Gulf War. As Chief of Dental Services in Iraq, he played a key role in the forensic identification of Uday & Qusay Hussain and other high ranking BAATH party members and responded to numerous mass casualty events including the UN bombing in Baghdad. Having joined the military to do his part for his country, Dr. Fandel was the recipient of a dozen awards and decorations for outstanding and meritorious service.
Dr. Fandel is married to his lovely wife Frances and they have 5 children Nicholas, Lauren, Jaymie, Dylan and Marc. Dr. Fandel loves sports. He is a big baseball fan, having played baseball at NE Mississippi Junior College and at Ole Miss. He also loves golf and is an avid golfer. When not at the practice, he spends time with his family swimming, fishing and building models.

This team is amazing! I went in for something simple and was super nervous, but Fandel and the amazing dental hygienist ( hate that I do not know her name) were just great!!! I felt so comfortable and didn't feel a thing! Glad I found them!!

Respectful, fast, on time. Always get me back there pretty quickly. Got a molar removed.. Doc talked me through the whole thing which is thoughtful. Leo thank you. Amanda always on point. Kayla thanks chick. Y'all all did amazing. . Will be coming back. I trust this team.

The doctor and the staff at concho valley family dental are amazing. I wish I could put a before and after. I was so nervous because of a bad experience somewhere else and they made sure to make me feel comfortable. I got an upper partial for my front three because of an accident and haven't had a confident smile in a long time. When they was finished and I looked into the mirror I cried happy tears. They brought back my confidence and was so supportive !! Thank you all!!

I have anxiety about every little detail involving dental work. Yesterday was my first appointment in 6 years, and I was scared. Dr. Fandel and his team immediately made me feel comfortable and walked me through all of my options. I left happy and with two future appointments that I have zero anxiety about! I'm looking forward to being a regular patient.

Just called and asked how much an exam is and if a week old X-ray(s) would work. I never got an answer so I asked if they give a cash discount on dental work and she said no. We don't have dental insurance but pay cash. People don't seem to understand that concept these days! What a shame!!!

I'm always so nervous going to the dentist especially here in San Angelo but I'm glad. I got my wisdom teeth removed and had no complications and recovered within weeks. I sure will be going back.

Staff was very friendly. Doctor took the time to sit and introduce himself, something that I never had happened anywhere I have been. Everyone made me feel comfortable. I love this place.

I am in desperate need of dental care, having small sections of my jaw exposed for several months following a previous extraction at another (distant) practice. I called to see about scheduling an appointment, I was told that I could come in for a consultation/exam in six days, which I was willing to wait for, had they answered my next question correctly... When I asked what precautions I needed to take for my visit, I was told that I was not required to wear a mask, and the receptionist didn't even ask if I had a fever. That's right- they don't even try to encourage patients to wear a mask, or disclose possible illness! That is ridiculous for a medical establishment during a pandemic, and downright evil when you consider that they lie to us on the website, claiming to take covid seriously and that they do everything to keep patients safe. Do they even wash their hands, dispose of used needles, etc.? If they don't believe in covid-19, how is a patient to trust them for ANYTHING? If you want to be cared for by sensible, sane, and hygienic staff I suggest you avoid this office, and any other practice that they are affiliated with. I can't believe all of these fluffly reviews, especially considering that almost none of them mention anything about their supposed visits being affected by covid in any way... even the grocery store is a different experience these days, let's be real. I have no choice now but to keep looking, and possibly go out of state just to find proper care, by actual medical professionals that deserve their licenses. This place is more likely to kill me (and my family!) than fighting this infection is.

Don't even want to give them 1 star if u don't know how dentist work by now, know that most of them are scammers and I can spot 1 easily and this place is it along with a few other places here in town. They all work for the Root Canal Specialist apparently which root canas are horrible for your health by the way. You need to watch the documentary Roots and understand why!!!! They even harmed my daughter's mouth and did something wrong on their part and tried to put an excuse on it.

FINALLY A DENTIST I CAN RAVE ABOUT!!! I have had such horrible experiences with dentists in the past and went to Dr. Fandel to have some cavities filled. Dr. Fandel was so patient and understanding of my apprehension about being at the dentist, and he took time to get and keep me comfortable while he worked on my teeth. I honestly never thought I would say this but I couldn't have been happier with this dental appointment. Dr. Fandel and his staff really go out of their way to treat their patients with kindness and compassion and for that reason, I don't think I will feel like I have to put off going to the dentist again. So glad I found Dr. Fandel and would highly recommend him for anyone needing dental work in San Angelo.

Was pretty nervous going in to have all 4 four of my wisdom teeth removed just earlier today, but was immediately relaxed thanks to the efforts of all the staff and their cheerful demeanor. Not to mention I happened to see two adorable dogs walking around the office, somehow they also reduced any anxiety I had going in. Definitely recommend this place! Dr. Fandel and his staff are the best I've seen in a dentist office hands down. So if you happen to come here know that you are in good hands!

I have a list of people that I trust and one of them is my dentist Dr. Fandel! I have a phobia for the dentist due to a horrible painful experience in my past and I decided to go back to Dr. Fandel to get my teeth fixed and I went in with my knees shaking. He spoke to me about my dental plan and to trust him and assured that everything was going to be okay. I then went to my next apt. to start my dental work and it was a breeze!!!!!!! Dr. Fandel sure knows hows to work with his hands because I DID NOT FEEL A THING! I could not wipe off the smile off my face when I walked out of the office!!! If your looking for a caring dentist and a dentist who actually listens to you then you need to go to Concho Valley Family Dental!!

Dr Fandel is hands down the best dentist I've gone to, made the whole experience comfortable and reassuring when removing all 4 of my wisdom teeth. Answered every question I had and made sure I was prepared. 100% recommended.

Definitely the best dentist I've been to in San Angelo. Dr. Fandel and his staff are friendly and he's super efficient. Had a wisdom tooth extracted today. It took less than 45 minutes from walking in to driving home, and most of that was waiting for the anesthesia to kick in. Best thing is, I never felt a thing and the whole time he's working on me he's telling me exactly what he's doing and what I can expect. Side bonus is the music in the rooms is good. Got my tooth yanked to Alanis Morrisette and 3rd Eye Blind.

This is the best dentist I have been to by far ; the staff is professional ,honest and super friendly. They are more than competitive on their pricing for procedures. I seriously can not say enough, I will be a forever patient and would recommend them to anybody and will tell all my friends and family . LOVE THIS PLACE
