Maintaining a solid oral health routine is important, no matter how old we are. But as we grow older, taking good care of our teeth becomes even more crucial. Ask our dentist at Concerned Dental Care and youll learn some vital information about how taking steps today will prevent problems from surfacing later.

First, its essential to recognize how our teeth like the rest of our bodies change over time. Our mouths go through stages in which the nerves in our teeth start becoming smaller. This may sound like a good thing, but its actually just the opposite. Smaller nerves in our teeth mean we become less sensitive to cavities and other irritations and issues that may arise. This makes coming in for regular checkups and exams by our dentist even more crucial for diagnosing issues you may not even realize are occurring.

A host of other issues lead to older people becoming more prone to getting cavities. One is dry mouth, a side effect caused by hundreds of commonly prescribed medications, including for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, allergies, Parkinsons and Alzheimers diseases. Make sure to tell the dentist about the medications you are taking for recommendations on how to relieve dry mouth.

Gum, or periodontal, disease is also commonly detected among older people because it is often painless. This condition occurs due to the buildup of plaque that sticky, bacteria-filled coating that contributes to decay. Periodontal disease can cause the gums to recede from your teeth, opening the door for potential tooth loss if untreated. Our dentist also makes sure to screen for cancers of the mouth, throat and tongue, which can develop without causing any discomfort.

I've been going here for 20+ years and the doctors were always great, the receptionist however is not professional with speaking or cost. She's too old and needs to retire or quit. They are so slow and always in their cellphones. The other staffs are truly nice and caring. The assistant is very helpful and the hygienist is very good at cleaning. However, the doctor I had to do a simple filling was Haitian and young men. Seems really nice. But I had to go back for 4 days with issues. It was so much discomfort and I was told the pain would lessen after 2 weeks, it's been 3 months and I can't eat cold or hot stuff. Also the filling cause so many other issues. There's overage and I can't chew food normally without it getting stuck between my tooth that was filled. These sharpness are the end of the tooth, I can't chew gum or it gets stuck and can't get out. Prior to this it caused my a few of the other tooth to not sit right in my mouth now. So in all I'm not going to try this place again. And my entire family goes here. But it was the worst experience I've ever had.

I give this place two stars due to my prior interactions with the establishment. I've been going to concerned dental literally my entire life. In the past years they have been prompt and professional, best care in SOP/Richmond Hill area. More currently, the staff is extremely rude and if you go in with an issue they literally do nothing for you. I get my normal cleanings and routine check every 6 months. I came in with a throbbing tooth, where the pain was almost unbearable and the doctor took 2 minutes with me. Not relieving my pain or giving me answers, but instead gave me the vaguest response and out sourced me to another location with an appointment for four weeks later..the pain is now, the treatment should also be now. After 20 years I'm sad to have to find a new dentist but for better treatment I advise steer clear of this office.

I've had decent work done here but the staff needs to mention all options and cost of the complete procedure BEFORE it begins not after. They do not like to answer questions. I've been going here for over 10 years and the staff has always been rude but the dentists are good.
