Dr. Yanwen Chen is a general/family dentist. In 1997, she came to Portland, Oregon as a visiting scholar after receiving her PhD in Molecular Biology from Peking Union Medical College in China. She went on to pursue a career in Dentistry after some extensive dental treatments her daughter received when she was three. She achieved her DMD at Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Dentistry. With a strong belief in earlier education and preventive dental care, she provides complete dental care to the whole families. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Washington County Dental Society.
Dr. Chen is dedicated to her patients, profession, and community. Setting a high and excellent standard of care, her focus is on providing comprehensive patient care and education. She is active in her field, keeping up to date on the latest techniques, technologies, and practices in the ever-progressing dental world.
She married her high school sweetheart and have two children together. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with family, playing badminton and experiencing outdoor activities like hiking, camping and skiing.
Julie has beenwith Complete Dental Center since 1994. Julie is a native Oregonian and she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1990. Julie wasinitially trained asa dental assistant thenshe moved up to become an office manager/front desk several years later.Julie is the first person to welcome new patient to our dental family. Her knowledge about our office, services provided, dental insurance coverage, and billing process will give answer to every question one can possibly ask.
Julie enjoys communicating with patients. Over the years, she has known many of our patients very well like family members. Her out-going personality, delightful voice and enthusiasm laughing have made many our patients look forward to their next dental visit.
'Dentistry is very interesting to me, I really enjoy the whole process of educating patients as well as seeing their smiles restored or for them to get relief from pain they may have been suffering. But the best part for me is spending time with patients. They are the heart of our practice, I am looking forward to come to work every day because patients are like family to me.'

My whole family goes to them. They are always bright and kind. The receptionist, dental assistant and dentist are all so welcoming and helpful and very nice people. Small office so its alot more comfortable and personal.

I love going to Dr. Chen at Complete Dental Center. It's a small office with just three employees so I always feel as though Dr. Chen takes her time and sees me personally. This is NOT the type of place where the dental hygienist does all the cleaning and x-rays, then the dentist pops in for 30 seconds. I also appreciate that Dr. Chen values my time and my money. When I needed periodontal surgery, she took time out of her own day to get in touch with her dental contacts to find a periodontist that wouldn't encourage excessive gum surgeries. On top of all of that, everyone at Complete Dental Center is kind, caring, and upbeat. It's a great place! If you want to enjoy going to the dentist instead of dread it, give this place a try.

The staff are very friendly and professional, and are always happy to make adjustments for patients if they are able. For example, when I chipped my tooth on a Friday, I got a hold of Dr. Chen, and she was willing to see me that day (even though the center usually closed on Fridays) to fix the tooth.

Never enjoyed going to the dentist until I found Dr. Chen's office. Always feel welcomed by Julie, Nicole and Dr. Chen. I've recommended them to my family, friends and clients.

Dr. Chen and her staff were extremely friendly and professional. No one loves going to the dentist (I think) but they do a great job of making visits as painless as possible. It's definitely hard to find a dentist you trust, so I'm really happy I stumbled upon them.

I would recommend Dr. Chen. She has been the best dentist I've ever had. I used to avoid going to the dentist. Not anymore. She and her staff are very friendly. She's an excellent professional, and she listens to her patients (a rare quality nowadays among health professionals).
