Truly modern dentistry is amazing. Using the latest tools, Dr. Fana is able to do things people thought were impossible even a few years ago. Every day, hes able to treat patients with lasers, use X-rays that emit almost no radiation, and even fix cavities without using a dental drill. He is continually updating our dental office so hes able to deliver an experience that is always more comfortable and convenient than the last one.
In order to become a better kind of dentist, Dr. Fana took steps that most clinicians havent. After completing dental school, instead of starting to practice right away like most of his colleagues, he took an extra year to work with established clinicians and teachers to ensure he was able to provide everything his patients would need at an extremely high level. Over the years, he has also completed the entire curriculum at the L.D. Pankey Institute, one of the most well-known and respected post-graduate centers in all of dentistry.
Dr. Fana feels that it is truly his mission in life to help people in need, and that applies to those well beyond the walls of our dental office. Dr. Fana has been a part of the Savannah community since 1997. In 2000, he opened Compass Dental in order to better serve the needs of his patients. Spending time with his patients to better understand their concerns is only one way Dr. Fana exceeds expectations. Despite his decades of experience, he still pursues extensive continuing education every year in order to better serve everyone who comes through our doors. During his senior year of high school, Dr. Fana got braces, and over the course of his treatment, he formed a bond with his orthodontist. This eventually led him to start working as a dental assistant in the student health facility at college, and this is when he truly learned to love the field. He enjoyed the one-on-one contact with patients dentistry offered, plus he had always liked working with his hands, so becoming a dentist seemed like the perfect fit.
Dr. Fana received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his dental degree from the University of Louisville. Afterward, he completed a residency in general dentistry at the University Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. While most dentists choose to go into practice right after school, he spent an extra year working with experienced physicians and surgeons in order to become an even better clinician. He has since completed the entire curriculum at the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute, becoming the local expert when it comes to porcelain restorations, dental implants, and TMJ therapy.
Dr. Fana enjoys spending time with his son Banks and step-daughter May and going hunting with his dog, Francesca. He and his wife, Malissa, are also avid snow skiers. He likes to travel as well, frequently visiting Utah and the North Carolina mountains. In the future, he hopes to take his family to all of the national parks around the country.
Michelle brings to our dental office almost 25 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry. She enjoys expanding her knowledge with continuous education. She is originally from St. Simons Island, Georgia and relocated to Richmond Hill in 2005 with her husband Joe and their two boys. Their boys are active in marching band, wrestling and Boy Scouts. In her downtime, Michelle enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering. She also enjoys camping, hiking and kayaking.
Lynn is a Savannah native and has three children who have all left the nest. She and her husband Tim enjoy going out on the boat and playing tennis. Lynns family-oriented qualities make our patients feel welcomed during each visit. She has worked as a dental hygienist for over 20 years.
Robyn was raised in a small town in Wyoming. She graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. In 2010 she moved to Savannah, where she pursued her dreams as a Dental Hygienist. Robyns devotion to her profession shines through her work every day! In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, especially running with her dog Cash!
Alishia was born in Amory, Mississippi. Her family relocated to Effingham County where she grew up. She loves getting to know her patients and helping them learn how to care for their dental health. When Alishia is not at work, she can be found with her son Aidan or watching Alabama football. Roll Tide!
Jaquita is a Savannah native. She is a graduate of Savannah Technical College. She has 20 year experience in cosmetic and general dentistry. Helping patients achieve their dental goals makes her happy. In her downtime she enjoys spending time with her son, family, friends and 2 fur babies.
Kimberlee was raised in Effingham County. She graduated from College of Coastal Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. In 2015 she discovered the dental field was her calling. She truly enjoys helping patients achieve a smile they love. In her downtime, Kimberlee enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Gemma.
Katesha is originally from Annapolis, Maryland. She relocated to Savannah in 2000. She has over 20 years experience in general and cosmetic dentistry. Giving patients the best experience possible is always her goal. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their new baby girl and two fur babies.
Siera is a native of North Carolina, but has spent most of her life right here in Savannah. She has worked in dentistry for a few years now and enjoys it tremendously. She has one child, who she spends as much time with as she can. In her free time she enjoys spending time gardening, going to the river, and hanging out with friends and family.

Cannot be happier. I called them because a piece of my tooth broke off. I got an appointment the next day! The team is very friendly and helpful. They did a great job and I love the attention to detail. Found my dentist!

I already loved this dentist office my dentist assistant(Jaquita) is amazing, very welcoming. She really brightens up my day when I come there. She know how to make a patient feel appreciated for spending the money. When I do go I do look forward to seeing her. Front desk also has amazing customer service."However" my dentist is amazing but he don't speak that much. When I come in I have to say how you doing today before he really speaks to me. I don't know if it's because he's busy or he dont really like to say how you doing and he just like getting straight to work or what but that didn't just happen one time it happen to me twice and that could use some working on. They are also on time with appointments so if your appointment is at 2:00 most likely you get in the back like a minute later so that's also a good thing. Other than that they do great work and that's my honest opinion in the nicest way I can say. So do I recommend this dentist office yes I do....

Best Dental staff ever! Called the dental practice at 7:50AM!! I actually got to speak to a Consultant! No holding No VM!! The team got me in at 8:10!! Fastest filling put back in history. Dr Fana is a very very professional dentist, customer service is beyond 5 star should be 10 stars thank you very much y'all!!!

Been visiting Compass Dental for over 10 years and the service and attention has not diminished. The staff is polite professional and thorough. The office is immaculate with modern equipment. I've had a deep cleaning, extractive surgery and an emergency tooth repair. They know their stuff! Along With the information and experience Dr. Fana and his staff has in oral health makes Compass Dental a great practice.

I had spent the last few years going to Compass Dental for my biannual dental cleanings. I take full responsibility for not being the best flosser but per the direction of the dentist and the assistant, I continued to ramp up my flossing and from my understanding per my last visit my teeth were in good shape. I had never once been told above cavities, plaque or gum disease. I was even given a referral for Invisalign. My last visit to the office was in late October 2021. I've since moved to a new city and new dentist where I have come to find out not only were my teeth in not great shape but I had multiple cavities and calcified plaque below the gum line. I was made aware that this does not happen with a 6 month span considering how often I brush and floss my teeth, I hardly eat sugar and soda and keep up with regular cleanings. The calcification and cavities were clearly not acknowledged in prior dentist visits or were just an oversight from the dentist and tech at Compass. I was so disappointed because I had spent time thinking my teeth were in better shape- even bragging that I haven't had a cavity in years! In the times I visited Compass Dental I often felt like the dentist rushed seeing me and looked in my mouth for no more than 30 seconds. Never much feedback and certainly not a full examination of my mouth outside of the tech who did my cleanings. Now I can see why.

Dr. Fana has been my dentist for over 20 years and Robyn has been cleaning my teeth for the past 12 and I cannot thank them enough. They keep my teeth nice and healthy. I get some many compliments. Thanks for all the years of service

I was always so scared of the dentist but this place is amazing! The team is so welcoming and kind. Dr. Fana was quick and accommodating when I chipped a tooth and needed to be seen asap before going out of town. I would recommend compass dental to anyone!

Dr. Fana broke the 5 star rating !!!! All staff is extremely sweet, the work of the dentists is speedy & gentle, I barely felt a thing. If you're looking for a dentist look no further. Having worn an upper appliance for 74 years, replaced several times of course, I have never had a tooth fall out of the appliance ....... until that provided by Dr. Fana. Within two years a tooth fell out on two occasions. No cost to fix the first but there was one for the second. Remember, 74 years with no loss; with Fana two losses in 2 years. A professional should provide a reasonable guarantee against sloppy work, and if that work is performed by a supplier, the professional should hold the supplier responsible for proper work. Fana's original charge was vastly more expensive than all prior ones in total, emphasizing the clear need for professionalism.

The worst dentist I've ever been to!!! I left out of his office crying! I have a fear of the dentist and my tooth lost its filling and it cracked. I needed it to be pulled and he kept touching it rough without no numbing cream. I told him it hurt and I did jerk cause it was hurting!!!! He said he can't work on me and refused care!!! I left out of that office crying and still in so much pain!! I will never go back to him!!!!!! BTW, just went to another dentist and they numbed my tooth and now it's fixed and I feel so much better! It's called compassion and unfortunately this particular Dentist doesn't have it!!!

Just called and pretty shocked with the customer service over the phone. I've expected a lot since I was browsing the website. Whoever answered didn't seem to have full attention, sounded sleepy, and made me feel judged for not having my teeth cleaned before lol. I am in customer service too and this experience was eye-opening.

Ever since the first phone call, I've experienced professionalism and great customer service. This office is definitely the Chick-fil-a of dentistry. Michelle is wonderful and always helpful. Robyn is amazing at her job. Dr. Fana is the absolute best at his craft. The staff talks with you and not at you (I've experienced that at another office). I wish I could give more stars!!
