Dr. Sigmon earned his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, after earning his bachelors degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University right here in Hickory. Prior to entering private practice, he served a general practice residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a member of the following organizations:
Dr. Sigmon has taken numerous postgraduate education courses on IV sedation and implant placement. He also has recent training in hard and soft tissue grafting for the best preparation for dental implants. His commitment to lifelong education means he is constantly evaluating emerging dental methods and technologies in order to provide his patients with the best results in the least invasive manner with a high emphasis on comfort. This commitment ensures the highest level of care, both today and tomorrow.
Dr. Sigmon is an active participant in the community, volunteering at Cooperative Christian Ministries and as a musician at his church, Hickory Harvest. He and his wife Rebekah have three beautiful children, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing keyboard and guitar, engaging in outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.
Buffyobtained a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene in 2007 at Catawba Valley Community College and Compass Dental team in April 2014. During her time at the practice she has become very acquainted withpatients and co-workers, which has been arewarding experience. She loves that she is part of an incredibly hardworking team that is very adeptin easing patients fears, boosting patients confidence, and educating patients to ensure a lifetime of optimum oral health.
On a more personal level, she loves to live in the moment and take time to appreciate all that life has to offer.She practicesyoga on a daily basis and enjoys spending time with herwonderful husband, Brad and theirsuper spunky 6 year old son, Brody. They are often participating inoutdoor family activities or taking spontaneous road trips withtheir husky, who is usually found hanging his head out of the car window.
Heather has been an employee of Compass Dental since April 2013. She is a 2003 graduate of the dental assisting program at Western Piedmont Community College. Heather has been a dental assistant for 16 years and especially enjoys helping patients to overcome their fear of the dentist.
Heather prides herself in being a people person and loves working with and learning more about each and every Patient. In her free time Heather enjoys spending time with her husband, Steven, and son, Korbin.
Chelsea comes to Compass Dental with over 5 years of Dental Assisting experience. She loves establishing a wonderful rapport with Patients and helps them feel at ease during treatment. You will recognize Chelsea immediately by her calm and welcoming demeanor and smile
Chelsea is originally from Florida but fell in love with North Carolina in 2006 and there was no looking back! She loves spending time at the Lake, Mountains and the Beach of course with her Husband Jordan and two fur Babies, Charlotte and Wesson.
Carol has a passion for Dentistry and providing exemplary Patient care. She has enjoyed 25 years as a Dental Office Manager and will always strive to exceed our Patients expectations. She is so proud to be a part of Compass Dentals wonderful Patient-centered Team.
Carol enjoys hiking, fishing and exploring the beauty of North Carolina with Mike, who is the love of her life and Husband of 32 years and their sweet Newfoundland, Mimi. Carol and Mike eagerly look forward to their trips to Colorado to see their Son, John and cherish the time they spend together.
LeighAnn has been with Compass Dental since 2019. She has 15 years of dental experience specializing in coordinating Patient care, educating Patients about dental procedures, and explaining insurance benefits. LeighAnn began her dental career at the University of Florida and assisted East Carolina University with establishing their community service learning centers. She loves to watch the confidence level in our patients soar with their healthy smiles!
Originally from Wilmington, NC she moved to Hickory in 2016 with her husband, Rik, and three children, Jacob, Caleb, and Jovie. In her free time she enjoys photography, boating on Lake Hickory, serving in her church, watching Carolina Panther football and attending her daughters clogging competitions.
Sandy brings over 9 years experience in the Dental Field to Compass Dental. She has an extensive background in Dental Insurance and billing and Office Management. Sandy provides our Patients with exemplary Customer Service and loves seeing our Patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles.
Sandy enjoys spending quality time with her Husband Dustin and amazing Daughter, Layla. They enjoy trips to the park, shopping and little weekend getaways. During football season, you can watch Sandy cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs!

I visited the office for a comprehensive exam. I had lots of anxiety. I don't like going to the dentist, and contemplated cancelling. I'm glad I didn't Everyone was amazing. Misty, Leigh Ann, Dr. Sigmon & Breanna helped from scheduling to checkout. Dr. Sigmon was very thorough & knowledgable. My existing treatment was evaluated, my needed treatment was planned and explained. All cost were presented to me up front. They gave me an estimate of my total expense, out of pocket and insurance. I left feeling very comfortable and confident in my treatment and plan. I trust this staff entirely.

I was a patient of another dentist who was unavailable, and had a dental emergency. I got an appointment within a few hours on the same day, the staff was very supportive and helpful, and Dr Sigmon was professional and thoughtful. They helped me with a very difficult situation, and more reasonable with the out-of-pocket! They actually made me think about switching dentists ..

If I could give zero stars I would! I heard good things about this guy, Ryan Sigmon, how great he was. So my family and I decided to see for ourselves. After a couple visits I began to realize all he wanted to to was conduct some type of procedures on my teeth or my husband and our children. I literally had a cavity filled one week then had my 6 month cleaning within the next few weeks only for him to suggest something else... seriously! I have went to the dentist my entire life, I have always taken my children to the dentist and have NEVER had this many issues until Ryan Sigmon began treating us. My opinion is that he is money hungry, he wants to constantly be doing something to keep you coming back time after time. I have spoken with others who also go to Compass dental only for them to tell me the same thing but they state they had never really thought about it but now that I mentioned it... Sadly some of the work he has completed on myself, my husband and my daughter, we all three continue to have issues (pain or sensitivity) related to his work, when a follow up appointment was made and my husband for example went back to try and correct the issue with what was causing him pain - pain that he did not have prior to the treatment with Mr. Sigmon - well Sigmon didn't want to fix it, told my husband he wasn't sure but maybe he needed yet another procedure! We thought, of course he does... it literally was always something! So seek treatment here at your own risk, Sigmon will make a dent in your wallet that's for sure, paying for unnecessary procedures, even with insurance! This dentist office is a joke! Seen a different dentist, no problems - how about that :)

I wanna give a big shout-out to Dr Sigmon and his entire staff. From the first phone call to him calling me way after hours to let me know how important it was I have a procedure done immediately, they were awesome!! I have severe anxiety and I have now found a place I can go and be comfortable. Thanks again guys

I didn't get to go to the dentist as a child. It made for severe anxiety related issues. The staff was very friendly and the doctor was what I can imagine being one of the best in the area for doing what's best for you. Thank you all

Highly recommend! I bring my 5yo daughter here and she's always been very comfortable being treated here. She's also had a few cavities filled, and the way Dr. Sigmon conducts that process is great with respect to the younger clients. Very clean facility and makes clients feel comfortable. The teams provide honest feedback with options for treatment.

I was in severe pain due to an abscess and my dentist would not return my call. I called Compass Dental because I realized Dr. Sigmon was a former neighbor, and it stated on their website that they saw dental emergencies the same day. I called right when they opened and they were able to see me at 10:00am that day. Everyone was extremely friendly from the moment I walked. Dr Sigmon was kind, caring, and genuinely concerned about my well being. He immediately determined I had an abscess and would need a root canal. He was able to do the root canal the next morning and even checked my other teeth while I was there. I am switching my entire family to his practice because I was so impressed!

I'm a guy that doesn't like dentist at all... Had a bad experience one time and never got over it... Today was my first time going there because a friend of mine recommendation... This place is super nice and the staff was so sweet and helpful; to welcome me and communicating everything as they was doing it. Got a good Quality cleaning and exam like I've never had before... Got a plan to fix some teeth... I was not pushed or felt pressured into anything and the prices are really reasonable... I have my new home for my teeth... Highly Recommend to anyone!!!

Dr. Sigmon was absolutely amazing. We were visiting the area from out of town and my son broke his tooth on a Saturday. Even though he wasn't a patient of his he took the time to call me and guide me on what to do for my son. I feel that he didn't have to do that and that speaks volumes on his character and his business. Thanks so much!!

I had an infection from a cavity and was bound for an abscess. After a search for dental services in Hickory I am happy to say that I chose wisely. My introduction to Compass Dental resulted in an extraction. They had me back for images and initial interview in no time at all! Soon after the tooth was out! My appointment was at 8am and I was back at work before 10am. From check in to check out I was thoroughly impressed. Courteous. Respectful. Efficient. Professional.
