This is for both parents of young children and adults who are interested in a better understanding of these conditions.Since there is no way to restore large amounts of missing or damaged teeth structure, treatment for cavities is focused on prevention.

Dental caries, or Latin 'rot', also known as tooth decay, or a 'cavity', is a bacterial infection that results in the destruction and demineralization of the hard tissues (enamels, dentins, and cementum) of the teeth.Acid is produced by bacteria from food debris that has accumulated on the tooth 's surface. The following factors can cause demineralization of teeth:Carbohydrates, plaque, and dry mouth are more common than factors that help to remineralize teeth (i.e.Tooth decay can occur due to the presence of saliva, calcium, fluoride, and saliva.Dental decay is the most common childhood chronic disease.According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, 60% of children will experience tooth decay before they turn five.

Your health can be affected by the condition of your mouth and teeth.Poor oral hygiene can have serious consequences if it isn't taken care of.To maintain optimal dental health, Comeaux Dental the Academy of General Dentistry recommends regular brushing and flossing.

Professional teeth cleaning has many benefits. It is a great preventative measure against gum disease, tooth decay, and other complex dental problems.Your dentist will be able to spot problems early if your teeth are properly cleaned.

A routine dental cleaning begins with a thorough dental exam by Dr. Comeaux or one of the skilled staff members.During your dental cleaning, Dr. Comeaux and his staff will examine your gums and teeth. We will look for signs of gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities.During the exam, you will be able to discuss any dental concerns or issues with your dentist and also discuss home remedies to improve your oral health.

Once the dentist has finished the exam, it is time for the cleaning. This procedure is handled by a skilled dental hygienist.Professional teeth cleaning procedure is painless and simple. Patients love the instant cosmetic results and the fresh, minty feeling that follows treatment.Your dental hygienist can also clean your teeth and check for any periodontal disease or gingivitis.

The bacteria living in your mouth are constantly growing.Regular brushing and avoiding sugary foods will help keep bacteria away.Plaque, a naturally occurring layer on teeth that allows bacteria to flourish, is an example.Bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease, and even tooth loss can result.

If plaque is not removed regularly, tartar forms at the gum line.A dental hygienist must remove tartar as it can lead to gum disease. The hygienist removes tartar with an ultrasonic scaler or hand scaler, mirror, and a water gun to rinse. This is a common procedure during a dental clean. It is possible to keep this procedure to a minimum by flossing and brushing your teeth at home.

Your Comeaux Dental The Woodlands & Spring dental hygienist cleans and polishes the teeth using a professional-grade electric toothbrush.Your hygienist then applies gritty toothpaste to remove any tartar and clean your teeth more vigorously than home brushes.

When you have sensitive teeth, eating or drinking anything thats not at room temperature can cause pain. You might even feel a throbbing sensation when a cold wind blows against your mouth. Tooth sensitivity is a common problem with many possible causes. Before delving into them, its important to understand the structure of the tooth.

The inside of each of your teeth contains a material called dentin. The dentin has tiny tubules and nerve endings. Each tooth also has a hard-outer layer of enamel that protects the dentin located inside of the top portion of the tooth. We also refer to this part of the tooth as the crown. A layer of cementum protects the dentin that reaches down into the root portion of each of your teeth. The pain of tooth sensitivity occurs when the protective coating of cementum or enamel wears away from the dentin. Acidic, sticky, cold, or hot foods and beverages are common triggers for pain.

Most people grind their teeth occasionally, whether they realize it or not. Fortunately, periodic teeth grinding causes no lasting damage to the teeth or jaws. Its only when the teeth grinding becomes a habit that it also becomes a cause for concern. Medically known as bruxism, chronic grinding of the teeth can lead to long-term oral health complications such as wearing the tooth down to a stump, cracked or fractured teeth, loose teeth, infection, and more. These problems increase the likelihood of major dental interventions such as tooth extraction, root canals, dentures, implants, bridges, and crowns.

Perhaps you can relate to the feeling of experiencing so much stress that you instinctively grind your teeth as a means of coping. In fact, stress is the top reason that people develop this habit in the first place. It can also develop due to existing problems with your teeth and jaws such as crooked teeth, missing teeth, or a bite that doesnt fully come together.

If crooked teeth make you self-conscious and hesitant to flash the world a big, radiant smile innovative Invisalign treatment can change all that. Ideal for correcting a variety of teeth and bite issues, Invisalign clear aligners improve your smile using state-of-the-art technology and a customized treatment plan.

In the past few decades, the practice of dentistry, on a parallel with other professional fields, has seen changes in marketing products and services to patients. More than ever, the public may come across advertising for discount specials.

When prospective new patients visit the dental firm for their special offers, they might leave with treatment plans filled with pricey recommendations. Sometimes, these recommended treatments are unnecessary.

Some risk factors for developing bad breath are controllable, such as smoking and choosing to eat certain foods. Others, such as developing certain diseases, may be outside of your immediate control. Typical reasons for this common oral health condition include:

Allergies: Several medications used to treat allergies can cause dry mouth, a problem commonly associated with bad breath. Post-nasal drip and sinus congestion caused by allergies can also contribute to the problem.

When its not treated, gum disease leads to losing teeth and other serious health issues. A recent study found that men with periodontal disease have a 14% higher chance of getting cancer when compared to those without this condition.

Our entire practice is dedicated to being deeply involved in our community. Dr. Comeaux and his team cherish the importance of being involved with everything from mission trips to local clubs and charities.

Excellent service. Great respect for Karen Saul, dental hygienist. She is the best. Tells me what she will do before she does it and why. When she must leave before work is one, she tells me why and when she will return. Strikes perfect balance between gentleness and firmness. I consider her the best hygienist in The Woodlands and perhaps Harris County. Competent and friendly.

I always have such a great experience at Comeaux. I have been a patient there for years and have always received great treatment, the people there are so friendly and kind. The doctors make an effort to get to know everyone and genuinely remember who you are. Wendy and Tracy are both super kind and took great care of me during my visit. They managed to make an 18 panel X-ray more fun than it would usually be. Alongside the X-rays, a cleaning, and consultation from Dr. Stonestreet, my appointment was only an hour long, which was pretty impressive timing. I highly recommend Comeaux, if you want the best care and experience.
