We believe that the most important service we can provide our patients is to help them create a Dental Health Plan. A Dental Health Plan is a document developed by the patient and Dr. Newman to guide the direction of the patients treatment toward achieving dental health. We find that people spend less time and money on dentistry when they have a Dental Health Plan to guide treatment.
We can achieve these three goals by educating patients on the 3 types of dental disease and how these can be prevented. We then use this knowledge to create a Dental Health Plan together. We call this our ProActive Program.
When Dr. Christopher Newman was 10 years old, he fell and broke his front two teeth. He feared that he would have to go the rest of his life with broken front teeth. His dentist was able to repair these teeth with the advances in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Newman was amazed that his dentist was able to repair these teeth like new. He thought that dentistry was a wonderful profession and loved the idea that he could help people get their smiles back. It was then he decided to pursue dentistry.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, Dr. Newman always wanted to live where it was warm. He met Dr. Theodore Ravenel in 2008 and took over his 42 year old West Columbia dental practice. Today, Columbia Smile Center still maintains its original focus on providing quality dental care to the community. When not working, Dr. Newman enjoys fishing, golfing, and water-skiing on warm South Carolina days.
Dr. Newman stays current on breakthroughs in dentistry through countless hours of continuing education during the year. He enjoys enhancing his knowledge of dentistry and attends advanced courses in cosmetic and implant dentistry. This enables him to provide state-of-the-art care to his patients. Every year, Dr. Newman attends the prestigious Hinman Dental Conference in Atlanta where he attends classes taught by many world-renowned dental educators.
