Originally from Florida, Dr. Kasper lived in Australia and California before hanging her shingle in the mountains of Colorado in 2008 where she was drawn to an active lifestyle in the outdoors. When shes not seeing patients, you may find Dr. Kasper road biking, hiking, or skiing the mountains around her home in Evergreen. She is married to Cri, our Executive Director at Colorado Family Dentistry, and they have two sons, Caydan and Emmett.

Dr. Kasper graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelors in dietetics and a minor in psychology and went on to earn her doctorate from the University of California, San Francisco in 2008.

In 2018 Dr. Kasper achieved fellowship status with the American Society of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry, a level of dental implant expertise that only 5% of dentists achieve nationwide. Dr. Kasper has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education study in prosthodontics, facial esthetics, TMJ disorder, and childhood facial growth and development.

Dr. Kasper attributes much of her success to the loyal community of Lakewood so, in 2017, inspired by her then 9-year-old sons work with the homeless, Dr. Kasper decided to give back to the community and started the Smiles for Veterans program, providing free dental care for Veterans of the armed services. Dr. Kasper also volunteers with the Colorado Mission of Mercy which provides service to adults, elderly, and children, who cannot afford dental care.

Dr. Kasper is proud to work with the fantastic team at our dental office in Lakewood. She enjoys getting to know each patient, and she loves it when patients tell her that they look forward to coming to our office. Dr. Kasper focuses on understanding each patients situation and conditions to treat them individually and uniquely. She is committed to patient education, helping our patients understand our dental treatments and the need for dental care.

After completing high school, the mountains drew Dr. Katie Scholand west from her home state of Illinois to Colorado where she took the opportunity to live the mountain lifestyle. Working initially as a ski instructor at Keystone, Dr. Scholand went on to attend school at Adams State University in Alamosa where she earned a Bachelors of the Arts degree. Dr. Scholand continued her studies at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where she graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Sciences in 2009 and moved to the oceanside town of Portland, Maine to put her skills to use. In 2011, heeding the call of the mountains and looking for a greater purpose in her career, Dr. Scholand returned to Colorado where she worked in public health until 2019, providing dentistry to the underserved communities of our state. Dr. Scholand loves taking continuing dental education classes and is dedicated to lifelong learning.

When not making patients smile, Dr. Scholand loves to watch and attend sports, especially the Denver Broncos and the Kansas Jayhawks basketball and, if you are trying to find a new hobby, this is the lady to ask for advice. Soldering, creative arts, camping, gardening, and meditation are just a few of the past times on her list and she often participates in several classes at a time, investigating potential new interests.

Dr. Scholand has found her home at Colorado Family Dentistry where she is able to build lasting relationships with patients in a challenging environment which allows her to fully utilize her skillset and focus on the latest in dental science.

Dr. Katie Scholand is very kind, inclusive of LGBT+ folks, and sensitive to issues that kept me away from the dentist for a long time--fear of the dentist, and poor dental hygiene due to mental health difficulties. In the past, I often felt shamed by dentists for this, but my experience with her has always been very positive.

I haven't been a real fan of dentists and have been avoiding going for many, many years. Dr Katie was able to get me in, make me comfortable, and fix a pretty big issue that had developed and prompted me to seek help in the first place. I am definitely going back on a regular basis from now on! THANK YOU DR. KATIE AND ALL THE STAFF!!!!!!

A wonderful experience! The dental team was kind, caring and professional. I felt welcomed as a first time patient from the front desk to the doctor. So happy I found them. Truly a remarkable find !

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The front office staff and dental assistants were wonderful, but I felt more like a customer than a patient to the dentist. When calling to make the appointment, I mentioned I have a lot of dental anxiety, something I thought would be taken into consideration. Unfortunately, the second the doctor walked in she immediately said "Yep. Root canal." before even introducing herself. I was told no details about the procedure, was shown no x-rays, was not offered space to ask questions, and there was no room for any options other than a very expensive procedure. She then went on to listing off 12+ cosmetic related procedures I "should consider", all of which were things I wasn't interested in. A week later I went to another dental office for a second opinion and was given far more options and information on my situation. Overall I felt over looked and over sold.

I am really pleased to provide this review for the Dentistry Practice of Julia Kasper - Colorado Family Dentistry. At my first visit, I was greeted warmly and was show around the office - many relevant aspects of the practice were described to me (e.g., where some lab work was done, the consultation rooms). X-rays were taken - along with additional history -and my concerns were clearly heard. I'd been without significant sleep for many, many months - and was really not myself. In addition to discussing the results of her evaluation, Dr. Kasper took the time to discuss my sleep and breathing issues. This led me to get the results of my sleep tests from last October. Central and obstructive sleep apnea sure explain a lot. It was nice to have my dental needs viewed in the context of my overall health and life concerns. Dr. Kasper does that well. Following her evaluation, I received a very thorough cleaning - along with helpful tips for home care. This is a terrific practice. Warm and professional. You will feel that your care is in very good hands.

Colorado Family Dentistry is AWESOME! I have received better care from Dr. Kasper and her staff than from any other dentist I have been to. They make you feel comfortable and welcome, and they actually listen to your concerns and address them. They really care about you! The work they so is top-notch also. I would refer anybody to them. You won't be disappointed!

The staff at Colorado Family Dentistry is wonderful. I always have a good experience here. I just had a cleaning with Heather (hygienist) who I loved. She was so friendly and patient with my 3yr old daughter that was with me. My 3 yr old asked to see me get a cleanup and Heather was happy to allow her to watch. I grew up fearing dentist appointments as a child so it is important to me that my daughter has a more positive experience. It meant a lot to see the staff was so understanding. I also met Dr. Scholand who was so patient and kind as she answered all my questions and discussed a crown I am concerned about. I have been going to this practice for several years now and will keep coming back.

I had two crowns put in this summer, and both instances everyone at Colorado Family Dentistry (from the dentist, tech, and front desk) was extremely competent and friendly. I highly recommend them.

We recently lost our main dentist, who retired. I just visited this practice and was impressed by the friendliness and their very human approach to their patients. Granted I have only been there once, but the practice is quite nice - seeming to be upscale once you walk into the 4th floor office. Both the dental assistant, Melissa, and the Dr. were very friendly and were very wiling to chit chat. Melissa particularly has a great sense of humor, and I was thankful that she was able to take a few jokes that I mentioned that could have been seen as a little risque (though not very). I laughed, I had my teeth examined, and even got them cleaned! It was a good time. As to their professionalism, I appreciate that they take so much time on a first visit to find a benchmark of your teeth and thus allow you to see where you dental plan of care needs to be directed. I would recommend this practice, based merely on my first experience, but I will continue to review as I go forward. Good luck.
