Dr. Jones, who was raised in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2004. In the time immediately following his graduation from UNC, Dr. Jones worked as faculty in the biology department, teaching lab courses to undergraduate students. In 2010, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude. As a student, Dr. Jones was asked by faculty to help teach a dental occlusion course to younger dental students, which he did for 2 years. Following dental school, Dr. Jones was one of four dentists selected to attend a 2-year pediatric dental residency at LousianaState University in affiliation with Childrens Hospital of New Orleans. During this time, he received extensive clinical, emergency, and hospital training, education on the growth and development of children, and the treatment of medically and physically compromised patients.

In addition to being on the medical staff at The Childrens Hospital of Colorado, Dr. Jones is also an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Metro Denver Dental Society. Dr. Jones attends numerous continuing education courses around the country to stay current on the latest techniques in pediatric dentistry. His ability to be gentle and create a positive experience for patients provides them with excellent care and a happy, healthy smile. Dr. Jones feels truly blessed to fulfill his lifelong dream of making a difference in the lives of children on a daily basis.

Permanent teeth will begin to grow around age 6, and with the exception of wisdom teeth, are all present between ages 12 and 14. The next teeth to grow in are the 12-year molars and finally the wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth typically begin breaking through from age 17 and on. The total number of permanent teeth is 32, though few people have room for all 32 teeth, which is why wisdom teeth are usually removed.

Your front teeth are called incisors. The sharp fang-like teeth are canines. The next side teeth are referred to as pre-molars or bicuspids, and the back teeth are molars. Your permanent teeth are the ones you keep for life, so it is important that they are brushed and flossed regularly and that periodic check-ups by a dentist are followed.
