Dr. Alexis Collins was born in Pittsburgh, PA but grew up in Irmo, SC. As a high school student at Irmo High School, she spent the hours after school at Dr. Nylands pediatric dental office . It was at this office that her love of pediatric dentistry began. Dr. Collins graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clemson University. After college, Dr. Collins moved to Charleston, SC for her dental education at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following completion of her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree, Dr. Collins completed a two year Pediatric Dentistry Residency at MUSC and specialized in infant through adolescent care with extra focus on growth and development and special needs dentistry. Dr. Collins and her husband, Spencer, love spending their free time with family, playing with their two dogs, and keeping up with their three kids, nine year old Avery, and their six year old twins, Thomas and Anna.

Dr. James Nyland has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Columbia for over 30 years.He received his D.D.S. degree at Ohio State University and completed his residency at Columbus Childrens Hospital in Ohio. Dr. Nyland served in the United States Military at Fort Jackson as anArmy dentist. His military career of 10 years also included 8 years as a reservist. Dr. Nyland belongs to many dental organizations. He was president of the Greater Columbia Dental Association in 1987. In 1992, Dr. Nyland was president of the South Society of Pediatric Dentistry. He is currently serving as Chairman of Continuing Education for the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, a job he has held for over 25 years.
Julie earned her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC in 1998. She began work in general dentistry as a Registered Dental Hygienist first in NC and then in PA for a total of eight years. Julie joined the pediatric dental world in 2006 when she moved to SC and began working for our practice and hasn't looked back. She loves working with children, helping them overcome their fears and have fun at the dentist. In her spare time, Julie likes to spend time outdoors running, cycling, or swimming and competing in races. In addition, she loves to travel and spend time with her husband, and two grown sons!
Mary Jane was born in San Antonio, TX and grew up in Greenville, SC where she went to dental hygiene school at Greenville Technical College. She now resides in Irmo, SC and has worked for Dr. Collins for over 5 years! She is loved by two children, Summer, and Chase, as well as one grandson, Skye. Her hobbies are: Gardening, and working out!
Theresa earned a degree in management for Clemson University. She worked for 24 years at a parts distributor company before joining us in 2006. She is married and has 3 grown children and one grandchild. She loves to read, cook, and spend time at the beach. She is an avid follower of the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians!
Diane went to Irmo High School, USC, and graduated from MUSC with a B.S. in dental hygiene.She worked in general dentistry in Florida and South Carolina for 17 years. She started working here in 2001 where she found her true passion, children. Her goal every day is for children to love the dentist and she and her-workers all strive to make that a reality. Diane is married with two daughters. She loves spending time with family, being involved in her church, playing tennis, and camping!
Courtney graduated from The Medical College of Georgia in 2002 and began her career as a registered dental hygienist. Courtney joined our team in 2017. She has extensive experience working with children and a passion for making your child's dental experience a happy and memorable one. When she is not working, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and watching her two boys play baseball!
Cathy has been working as a Dental Assistant for our practice since 1999. She is married, has 2 adult children and 4 grandchildren. She loves to spend time with her family and friends, especially at the beach. She also enjoys reading, walking, and traveling!
