Dr. Lawson was born in Jacksonville and grew up just a few miles away in Winchester. His father was Ken Lawson, a well-known Illinois State police trooper and his mother, a registered nurse, still resides in Winchester. A graduate of Winchester Community High School in 1977 he went on to attend Illinois College where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Chemistry in 1981. Next stop was Chicago where he attended The University of Illinois Chicago earning the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1985. After a brief stint as an associate dentist in the Chicago area Dr. Lawson purchased the practice of retiring dentist Raymond Templin. Then in 1998 he purchased his current office from retiring dentist Robert Herr. Special interests in the dental field for Dr. Lawson include implants and dental treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and he has taken over 100 hours of special training in these areas.
Dr. Lawson and his wife, Mary Anne, reside in Jacksonville where they raised their two children - Naomi and Nathaniel. Naomi resides in Plano, Texas and Nathan is in the Denver area. They are active members of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoy reading, movies (at the theatre) and traveling. Their newest interest is their grandson, Naomis son Elijah born in February of 2021.
I am a licensed Dental Hygienist and graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in Godfrey, Illinois, in December 2008. College Avenue Dental is my first Dental Hygiene position since graduation. I feel very fortunate to have found a warm, caring, and knowledgeable practice to begin my career. The team here at College Avenue Dental strives to deliver high quality oral care while treating all patients like family. I find my job very rewarding and look forward to the many years to grow and learn as a part of this team.
My husband and I are blessed to have 5 wonderful children who we are very proud of. Our new love is spending time with our grandchildren. I enjoy shopping, traveling, and being with family and friends.
I am very excited to be a part of the College Avenue Dental team. I graduated in December 2009 from the Dental Hygiene Program in Godfrey, Il. I have spent my first 8 years in the dental field in Southern, IL and I am very fortunate to be here in a great community and closer to home. I love helping people understand the importance of oral health while helping them find their smile.
I have been a dental assistant since graduating from Lincoln Land in 1987. I started here at College Avenue Dental in December of 2019 and I'm excited to be part of this wonderful team who strives to make everyone's visit a positive experience.
I currently enjoy working part-time helping the staff at the front desk. Dr. Lawson and I have two grown children. My daughter is a Nurse in Little Elm, Texas and my son is a Computer Software Engineer at Intelex and live in Denver Colorado.
I have been present in my husband's practice for many years and I am very proud of him and the care he provides for his patients. He and his staff are all part of the most wonderful, caring team of dental professions.
In our free time, we enjoy spending time together traveling, going to the movies, and events in our hometown of Jacksonville, Illinois. We also enjoy being involved in activities at Salem Lutheran Church and School.
I am the Financial Coordinator here at College Avenue Dental. My background includes insurance, medical and dental billing, as well as office management. I am very fortunate to work with such a great group of people so close to home that strives so hard to make what could be a 'scary' experience, enjoyable.

In for my periodic dental cleaning and was brought into the room on time. Glad to see Carrie Thompson back again as a dental hygienist. The whole cleaning process was fine and the conversations with everyone were pleasant. Glad to be scheduled for May 1, 2023.

Excellent experience. Felt very welcome as a new patient. Treatment plan and cost clearly laid out. I'm always a bit nervous about medical appointments, but I felt more comfortable with Dr. Lawson and the hygienist and technicians. Would highly recommend him.

The best dentist ever! My Dad was Dr. Templin's best friend & when he retired we stayed on with Doc. I will never go to another dentist. The entire staff are the epitome of dental care!
