After graduating from Saint Mary High School, I attended Murray State University and majored in biology and chemistry. I was granted early admission to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where I received my DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree in 1990. I was then accepted into the University of Louisville Orthodontic Residency program where I received my Master's degree in Oral Biology and my orthodontic degree in 1992.

I came back to Paducah and practiced with Dr. Bill Parker who had practiced orthodontics in Paducah since 1970. I have practiced solo since his retirement in 1993. I consider myself very lucky to be part of such a highly qualified and caring orthodontic team that has the patients best interest at heart. It is our goal to provide the highest quality orthodontic treatment in a caring, friendly and fun atmosphere. To that extent, in the fall of 2000, we finished construction of our current location. To better serve our patients we also have two beautiful satellite office located in Murray and Draffenville.

I strive to stay on the cutting-edge of the latest advancements in orthodontics by keeping memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Kentucky Association of Orthodontists (President 2004-2005), Kentucky Dental Association and the Purchase Dental Society (President 1998). I am also active in our community and support the United Way.

On a personal note, I am married to my high school sweetheart, Janet, and we have four grown children: John Jr., Jennifer, Justin and Julia. We like to spend time at the lake water skiing, tubing and boating. I am also a sports enthusiast and enjoy numerous sporting activities, especially golf, tennis and basketball.

On a personal note, I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have the most beautiful twin daughters! Though neither of us thought we would ever move back to Paducah, we absolutely love being here and feel very fortunate to raise our daughters in such a great community! Spending time with our families is very important and much easier in the same town. Being married to a sports enthusiast has turned me into an avid UK and Dallas Cowboys fan! GO CATS!

Hi! My name is Tonya. I am a 1994 graduate of the dental assisting program at West KY Community and Technical College. I have been employed by Dr. John since 1998, as his laboratory technician. When braces are removed, I fabricate the retainers that patients wear to keep their teeth straight. The acrylic portion of the retainer can be colorful, and the patients can chose the color they like; even glitter can be added! We also offer clear or invisible retainers. Orthodontic appliances, worn with braces, that help tooth movement and dental arch expansion, are also fabricated in my lab. Dr. John and I work together to help patients get and keep a beautiful smile!

My husband, Roy, and I were married since 1978, he passed away in January of 2017. We have one son, Andy. Andy and who has a daughter, Gracelyn, who is the best granddaughter EVER! I love animals and have 6 of my own: three cats and three dogs. My favorite weekend would include NASCAR and camping with my family. I also enjoy watching the Food Network and trying new recipes!

Hi, my name is Audrey. I joined Dr. Johns staff in December 2002 as a clinical technician. Prior to the position, I worked in another orthodontic practice in Paducah for 18 years. Its nice working with co-workers that I consider a part of my extended family. We have a lot of fun in our office.

My name is Jane, and I have worked as an orthodontic assistant in several offices throughout the United States. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mark, and have two grown children, Lauren and Brett, as well as three cats (who think they are dogs). The cats live with me, and the children do not! I enjoy getting to know all of the patients in the practice so I do tend to talk a lot we like to make everyone feel like family because all of us feel like family. This makes our office a fun place to work.

Hi! My name is Audrey. I joined Colgan Orthodontics after Dr. Allen Moffitt's retirement in January 2014. I have worked in orthodontics since 1980, both in reception and at chairside. Usually, you will see me in the front office. Occasionally though, I may help at chairside. I am happy to help you with finances, insurance claims and scheduling.

My husband and I have been married since 1986 and have one daughter and son-in-law and our newest addition, a granddaughter! We like to spend our free time at our boathouse on Kentucky Lake. Also we love to cook and try out old and new recipes. Other hobbies I enjoy are rock collecting, playing piano and gardening.

Hi! My name is Cindy. I have been an orthodontic assistant since 1981. Over the years, I have enjoyed being a part of creating many beautiful smiles. I joined Dr. Colgan's team in January 2014 following Dr. Allen Moffitt's retirement. A typical day for me consists of band fitting, wire bending, impressions, lab work, fabrication of retainers and much more! You may see me in both the Paducah and Murray locations.

On a personal note, I took the skills I acquired in bending wires and applied them to starting my own artisan jewelry business, 'The Beaded Wing'. I create designs using sterling silver and copper wire with natural stones. My husband Kent and I enjoy travelling, movies or quite time at home enjoying our four legged child, Jude. She is a boxer and she is my best friend in the whole world.

Hi, my name is Ericca. I joined the Colgan crew in June 2015. I completed my clinical rotations at this office when I attended school at WKCTC and Dr. John just couldnt let me go, so he hired me! The staff here at Colgan Orthodontics have taught me everything I know about orthodontics. I have to say, I LOVE my coworkers and my job.

On a personal note, I live way out in the middle of nowhere, and I have a bloodhound named Bailee. Bailee joins me on long hikes, hunting and camping trips. You can count us in on any outdoor activities! I also have three younger brothers named Garrett, Hunter and Kainen. They all keep me on my toes, but that is why I love them.

Working here at Colgan Orthodontics has been one of the most rewarding experiences. I really enjoy seeing patients' personalities and self-esteem grow as they move along through treatment. I plan on many more years to come!

Hi, I'm Connie. I have worked in orthodontics for over 30 years. We have such a pleasant work environment here. Dr. John is great and our team is fun, but professional. I love it! I usually work as an assistant, but occasionally help out in the lab.

Hi, my name is Lauren. I joined Colgan Orthodontics in December 2019. Throughout dental assisting school, I knew that orthodontics was the perfect fit for me. After I graduated from school and I began working for Dr. John, I felt right at home, having already had my orthodontics treatment here.

On a personal note, I am the middle child, with an older sister and a younger brother, both of which had braces here as well! I live in the country where I enjoy the peace and quiet and I love learning how to cook new recipes.

Hello! My name is Julia Colgan. Having moved back to my hometown of Paducah recently, I am thrilled to be a part of the team here at Colgan Orthodontics. Orthodontics has always been a part of my life. I love working with my Dad and am continually inspired by his skill and precision as an orthodontist. I may be biased, but he's the best orthodontist in town!

A little bit about me: I have the most amazing daughter, Bernadette. Without a doubt, being her mother is the greatest honor and joy of my life. I have my masters in Theology, which I am extremely passionate about. And l LOVE to spend time with all of my extended family, especially out in nature, hiking, swimming and making happy memories all together.

My name is Emily. I have been a dental assistant for 5 years. I started working for Colgan Orthodontics in the fall of 2018 and I couldn't be happier! Before orthodontics I was a general dental assistant. I love orthodontics because it brings so much happiness to each patient once they are done with treatment and to be a part of that happiness is truly rewarding.

On a personal note, my husband and I have been married for nine wonderful years. We have the most beautiful and vivacious 3 year old. She is the light of our lives. We love being outdoors going on adventures, gardening, playing with our dog Dagger and kitty Junebug and living life to the fullest.

Our team is committed to an unsurpassed level of personal service. It is out goal to enhance the quality of life for each patient we serve through a significant improvement to their overall health, appearance and SMILE.

I would recommend this office to anyone wanting a better smile! I visited them for my consultation and knew instantly that I wanted them to work on my teeth. The staff is super friendly and definitely know what they're doing. They took their time with me and made sure that I was satisfied each visit. I did pay out of pocket for my braces but it was well worth it and If I had to do it all over again I would go to Colgan again. I would give them 20 stars if I could (: if you're looking for a sign, this is your sign... GO TO COLGAN

I had my braces done here before. Dr. John was very nice, patient, and well-spoken. However, the techs there were very rude. There were two ladies in particular. One was extremely rude about my teeth. I had a spring in and it was very difficult to brush around at first and she told me "isn't this disgusting, would you want that in your mouth? Why keep it there?" Regarding a small piece of food behind the spring. She then went and told other workers about it. The other woman was very inconsiderate during the removal of my braces. I have very sensitive teeth and it hurt so bad when getting them off. She was grinding the glue off, which I understand is necessary. She told me when to tell her I need a break. I had to ask for a break often because it was so painful. She quickly became annoyed and snapped and said "well we're never going to get this done if you keep needing a break." I just feel these things were rude to say to a child. The first woman was pregnant at the time and second was a little bit older. I don't remember their names.
