'I am dedicated to working collaboratively with my patients to restore and maintain dental structure and function. I particularly enjoy how dentistry combines art and science in order to create beautiful, healthy smiles.'

Alan W. Coleman DMD is a native of Limestone County. After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College with a BS in Chemistry, he attended dental school at the University of Alabama and finished in June of 1983. He went on to complete a residency in Prosthodontics (removable dentures and partials) at the VA Center. In July of 1984, he opened his own private practice right here in Athens, Alabama and has not stopped learning and expanding his practice. Dr. Coleman completed a two-year Orthodontic Program with the American Orthodontic Society in 1986 and is currently a Recognized Provider of Six Month Smiles and Invisalign.

Dr. Coleman has studied Neuromuscular Occlusion at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute in order to provide the highest quality of care for patients who suffer from head and neck pain. He has also received advanced training in the use of Botox for the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, headaches, and migraines.

When Dr. Coleman is not in the office, you can usually find him on a golf course with his son, Wes, or on a video call with his daughter, Mary Ellen, who is a missionary living abroad. At other times, he may be in Nashville visiting his daughter, Allison, who teaches special needs preschoolers, or he may be enjoying a concert with his son, Michael, who studies music at the University of North Alabama.

I was looking for a new dentist when my old one retired last year so I decided to try Coleman dental since it was close to home. I went in for a cleaning and was very disappointed so much that I will never return. First the lady took x-rays and looked at my teeth. She then informed me that I had to have a "deep cleaning" which included three separate appointments and maybe even localized pain relief! She told me that she couldn't do anything today and I would need to come back and this was after waiting an hour already. I insisted that she go ahead and do a normal cleaning and after much back and forth with me she did. The cleaning was very badly done and she jabbed me in my cheek! Also this extra deep clean she kept insisting I do was going to cost me over $300 bucks. No way. I would also like to make clear that I have no cavities and I floss regularly. There was no reason for any of that and my husband went to his appointment and had the same experience.
