Dr. Burgess and his Norwich Terrier Chip have been life long residents of North Carolina. Hes beenin dental practice here since 1986. After receiving his doctorate of Dental Surgery from UNC-Chapel Hill, he completed his post graduate work at the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as the Kois Center and the Piper Clinic. He continues his post graduate work doing over 75 hours of continuing education every year. This past year he did over 250 hours of dental continuing education. Hes also served as a mentor at the Kois Center.
A man of many talents, he enjoys, music, boating, skiing, and camping. Dr. Burgess loves North Carolina and is an active member of the community. He is a member of the Rotary Club and serves on the classification committee. Currently he plays clarinet for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra where he has served on the board of directors as well as the players committee. Combining his musical interests with his faith, he is a choir member at St. James Episcopal Church where he also serves on the music committee.
Dr. Burgess loves to give. Tirelessly combining work with community service, he is a member of several study clubs related to his field. He shares his dental skills with the members of the community as well. He is a volunteer dentist at the Tileston Outreach Dental Clinic, and has served on their board of directors. He also volunteers at the St. Marys Dental and Medical Clinic, while currently serving on their board of directors.

I was recently diagnosed with OA, TMD and dislocations in both my jaw joints. Dr. Burgess and Dr. Rafaela have been so good to me in regards of treatment and care. They are very sweet dentists and have beautiful personalities. Their Dental Assistant, Suzy, is amazing. Very sweet lady who loves her job and would do anything to help her patients I highly recommend them!!

I had a issue with a temporary crown that was put by my dentist in Las Vegas at the end of August. I am awaiting the permanent placement of my crown for implants that were put in early this summer. I was on a business/pleasure trip to North and South Carolina and as luck would have it, my crown came loose. My dentist gave sent me contact information for Dr. Rafaela Dejanovic in Wilmington, NC. She tightened the loose crown but unfortunately the next day the temporary crown broke and came out. Dr. Rafaela had contacted my dentist as well as my periodontist to check into my situation to be prepared for whatever was needed to help me and had items overnighted to her that would allow me to have the permanent place without delay on my return to Las Vegas. I believe that she went above and beyond good service and would highly recommend her for her professionalism, quality workmanship, and caring about a patient that she would probably never see again. :)

Rafaela is the best dentist I've ever had. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable and competent, she is ethical. I know I can trust her fully to deliver the most professional and careful treatment. I recently flew in from Austin, TX, to visit my uncle, who lives here in Wilmington. The very first day I arrived, I bit into a pitted olive and broke one of my molars. I was filled with a huge sense of disappointment. Not for the loss of my tooth necessarily, but for the food opportunities we were now surely to miss out on. What happened next was just short of having superheroes come to my rescue. With a recommendation from my cousin, we called Dr. Burgess. He and his team sprang into action immediately. Within two days, Dr. Burgess, his team, Derek and Susie, walked me through the process of extraction, made arrangements with an excellent endodontist for a root canal and did an excellent job putting in a crown. Most importantly they took such good care in responding to my concerns. Thanks to this great team I did not miss out on any of the great cuisine here in Wilmington. I couldn't be more grateful for their care! Hands down my best dental experience! Highly recommend!

I'm only giving Dr.Burgess 5 Stars because I can't give him and his team any higher marks !! I'm new to the area, and don't have a Dentist but that didn't stop me from having a Dental Emergency. Last week I called Dr. Burgess's office in the morning out of the blue and explained my situation. Derek told me that while they were all booked up, he would see what he could do to help me. He spoke with the Doctor and got back to me within the hour and asked if I could come in that afternoon !! I said of course. Once I was there, they took very good care of me and my situation. Dr. Burgess and his entire team are very professional, caring, and have a great chair side manor ! I'm 52 years old, and I can easily say that Dr. Burgess is the Best Dentist that I have had. I highly recommend him !!

I have been going to Dr. Burgess for 15 years. The office is serene, the hygeniests are wonderful and Dr. Burgess is a knowledgeable, compassionate, friendly dentist who I would highly recommend.

I have gone to this office for years and years and it has always been a positive experience. I have never had to wait for my appointment. Barely have had time to open a magazine! The selection of Music they play during my visit is always awesome! Dr. Burgess is a local guy, born and bred right here in Wilmington. Can't ask for better!

Dr. Burgess has been my dentist for over fifteen years, and I hope he never retires! He and his staff were fantastic to my sweet southern Mom when she suffered with TMJ. Dr. Burgess straightened my teeth with braces and perfected my smile for life. He suggests ways to address short- and long-term dental health treatments. I highly recommend him for all dental procedures. Office visits are like catching up with good friends every six months.
