A graduate of the University of California at San Diego, Dr. John Coleman (Dr. John) found that he shared his fathers passion for dentistry and went on to earn his D.D.S. degree from New York University. While attending NYU, Dr. John trained at the Rosenthal Center for Aesthetic Dentistry in addition to completing training in temporomandibular joint disease (TMD) and special patient care. After his education at NYU, Dr. John became Advanced Cardiac Life Support trained and state certified in Oral Conscious Sedation. The wide range of knowledge he acquired during the course of his studies makes Dr. John a uniquely and highly skilled member of Coleman Advanced Dentistry. Like his father, Dr. John is also committed to continuing education and has recently earned his fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. John currently serves as an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the California Dental Association, and the San Diego County Dental Association.
Dr. John grew up as a baseball player, and even began his college career playing for Orange Coast College. The success of his father ultimately encouraged Dr. John to join his advanced dental practice. During his tenure as a baseball player, Dr. John was a pitcher and team leader, and takes that approach with his dentistry team. With baseball, the play doesnt begin until the ball is pitched, and then the pitcher relies on his eight teammates for success; with cosmetic dentistry, Dr. John is still relying on his team to provide successful results and he always views his patient as the most important person on the team. Dr. John enjoys being able to serve the community in which he grew up and provides the same high-quality care patients have come to expect of the practice his father began.
Doctor Michael Rice was born and raised in Southern California. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Sciences from UCLA before attaining his doctorate from the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 2014. Dr. Rice served six years as a US Army dentist. During this time, he completed a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, and earned a Masters degree in Oral Biology. Following his military obligation, Dr. Rice worked in Monterey, California, after which he and his family returned home to Southern California.
Doctor Rice joined Coleman Dentistry in 2022. He and his teammates take great pride in delivering the highest quality dental care, using state-of-the-art technology, and tenaciously focusing on patient-centered care to ensure a wonderful dental experience for each-and-every patient.
Doctor Rice and his family are immensely grateful to serve the local community. His wife Taryn works as a registered nurse for Kaiser Permanente, and the two of them have a three-year old child named Ben and a dog named Tusker.

Coleman and Coleman is by far thee BEST dentistry I have been to. The people here are so friendly and so helpful it makes each trip joyful. The interior design makes you feel at home and very comfortable. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone!! Two thumbs up!!

Coleman dentistry has treated my kindly and also have worked around my schedule. They offer different methods of sedation for your comfort. Another good thing is they are located next door to a restaurant.

I have been coming to this dentist office for at least 2 years and have never once had a bad experience, and this is coming from someone who avoids the dentist/doctors office because of past experiences when I was a child. Every time I have come in, whether it's to get my teeth cleaned or more serious procedures, the staff are always very welcoming, friendly, and they make an effort to get to know you!! More recently I had to get one of my wisdom teeth out and Dr. Rice was the dentist to help me with that. He was really kind and answered all of my questions, even as I was very obviously crying at one point. The entire dentistry team there was very sympathetic towards me and did everything within their power to help me feel comfortable and get through the procedure. While the procedure was happening, I really appreciated the clear communication coming from Dr. Rice and his assistant, like asking if I felt any pain (which they did a really good job of making sure I didn't), how I was feeling in general, and just overall things to make me more comfortable because they knew I was on the more nervous side. Overall, I have just really enjoyed my visits here and I would definitely recommend this dentist office to anyone in need of anything ranging from a check-up to wisdom teeth extraction!

I used to absolutely HATE going to the dentist and would put off going for years at a time. But with the tender loving care of the hygienists, and the wonderful and friendly personalities of the staff, I no longer fear the dentist! Everyone at Coleman and Coleman are top notch!!

I've been seeing Dr. Coleman and Dr. John for over 20 years after having a complete set of veneers done by them. Not only was I 100% satisfied with the look and function of my new teeth, but Dr. John and the staff continue to do the best work to maintain my dental needs. The entire staff is always so friendly and professional while maintaining a very comfortable and laid back environment in the office. There is naturally some level of stress that may come along with having dental work done, which I myself experience from time to time and they continuously make me feel as comfortable as possible in any dental circumstance. They are so warm and welcoming that it eases or completely relieves any anxiety related to having dental work done. They are very accommodating with amenities like assorted beverages, good relaxing music playing, and my favorite part, the back massaging patient chairs! I will continue to see Dr. John as I have for so long already and give the highest recommendation to anyone in need of simple or more in depth dental work!

I had cosmetic dentistry done at Coleman and I HIGHLY recommend them. I am so happy with my new improved smile. They are meticulous perfectionists, really listen to you and explain everything they are doing to you every step of the way, plus everyone there is just so damn nice. Is it weird to look forward to visiting your dental office? Because I did!

Let me just say...I have been to a number of dentists over the years, and like most people, I resist COMPLETELY. That being said, I have FINALLY decided on a Dentist for my new smile, which will be a massive undertaking (for me especially). I have to say that Dr. Coleman is the gentlest and kindest Dentist I have ever been to. He and his entire staff are incredibly understanding and helpful.
