Growing up in New Castle, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I enjoyed a loving home that nurtured my talents and lead me to begin my formal education at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where in 1991 I graduated with a B.S. in Biology. My interests soon became focused on Dentistry and I was delighted to discover that my application to the prestigious University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry had been accepted on early admission. I studied hard and was very active as a leader of several important organizations. Enthusiastically, I served as the President of the Womens Student Dental Association and Vice-President of the American Student Dental Association as well as Treasurer of the American Society of Dentistry for Children. In my senior year I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to present research that I had done for the Universitys Orthodontic Department in Seattle and was recognized as the Outstanding Senior of the Year by the American Association of Orthodontics.
In 1994 I proudly graduated with a D.M.D. Upon graduation I moved to Hartford, Connecticut to complete my general practice residency and later became an associate in a dental office in Moodus, Connecticut until 1998. The following year I joined the rest of my family in beautiful South Florida and began building Colella Family Dentistry hoping to provide the best, most caring, gentle, and professional dental care available. In March of 1999 I opened my own dental practice with hopes that I could bring to my patients the kind of care and confidence that come with being part of a good family. I never imagined that in three short years that I would be honored in a Sun-Sentinel newspaper poll as the best dentist in Broward County! I now continue my affiliation with many dental organizations such as the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and The Atlantic Coast Dental Association to increase my knowledge of new and improved dental techniques to make your visit with us a more pleasant experience.
Patty is Dr. Colellas mother. She was married to the late Anthony Colella for 39 years. She was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and resides in South Florida since 1991. Patty enjoys assisting our patients on a daily basis as our front desk coordinator. Pattys past experience with floral design keeps the added touch that everyone admires in our office.
Sylvie a native of Haiti, graduated from Palm Beach Community College as a certified dental assistant, and then with a degree in dental hygiene. Sylvie has been working in this office for the past seven years originally working for Dr. Colella as a certified dental assistant. She fell in love working with the patients so much she decided to further her career and become a dental hygienist.
Jessica, a native of South Florida, started her dental career in 2006 with a certificate in Dental Assisting from Palm Beach State College. She then furthered her career in 2009 at Broward College, graduating with an A.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys making healthy smiles and educating her patients on the importance of oral health. Her hobbies include being a devoted wife and mother to husband Kevin, and her kids Ellie and Colton.
Sabina, a native of Poland lived in Boston Ma. for 10 years until she moved to South Florida in 2008. She has been in the dental field for over eight years and loves helping patients with any questions and concerns they may have about their dental treatment. She is fluent in English, Polish, and Portuguese. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends.
Hi my name is Alberto S. Vazquez Jr. I have been a certified dental assistant for a decade now. I began assisting back in 2007, after graduating from Central Florida Institute in Orlando. My assisting background is in surgery, general cosmetic, and orthodontics. I love every aspect of my profession. I have a 4 year old daughter who is the world to me. She is half Asian and half Puerto Rican. She is learning both languages at home. My passion for dentistry is helping patients achieve their smile goal. To see them smile and be truly happy makes my day. I plan to be a dentist, and one day the President of this great country.
Do you love food? So doesNorja! In her spare time she enjoys cooking and trying new foods. Born in Kingston Jamaica, she moved to Florida at the age of 4. She has been working front desk with Dr. Colella since 2016 and has been a DentalAssistant since 2010.Norja is very passionate about dentistry, and our patients. Outside of the office she loves to travel and dance.
Damian and Irene though not presently living in Florida, are still part of Dr.Colellas business. Damian met Irene Ortiz when they worked as Dental assistants in Dr.Colellas office. Damian obtained his Health Administration degree and MBA and Irene became a Chiropractor. They married and lived in Daytona until Anthonys passing. They moved back here to help Dr. Colella in her office until she could replace her father with an office manager. Damian and Irene had already decided to move to Colorado after Anthonys passing. They live in Colorado now and both are presently in education and do consulting for Dr. Colella. They have two little girls, Bella and Bianca.
