I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love for a living, while helping my friends and neighbors improve and maintain their oral health. I love changing smiles, one person at a time, and giving people alternatives to better their dental health. Its fulfilling to help people feel healthier and more confident in all aspects of their lives.

Each year I participate in both classroom and hands-on continuing education courses. I believe continuing education is essential andenables me to provide the best and newest treatment options for my patients. I have personally taken over 1,000 hours of continuing education since graduating dental school.

Ive lived in Lancaster County for most of my life. When Im not working, I prefer to spend time with my wifeMelissaand our three daughters:Rebecca, Olivia, and Kathryn. My daughters are all very kind, beautiful, and intelligent human beings. I love that when I look at them I see my wife in all of them.

I love working with my hands, solving problems, and fixing things that are broken. Being a dentist means I do that every day. I am fulfilled when Im able to help a patient get out of pain quickly, transform a smile, or restore the ability to chew comfortably.

I am a dental nerd, so Im constantly reading online dental forums, discussing cases, and learning from and with my peers. Im also an active member of the Frank Spear Study Club and enjoy the challenges of those rigorous courses.

Im originally from Lancaster, PA, and now live in Gap. I enjoy anything with a motor especially Mustangs and dirt bikes. My sons Hollis and Brantley share in my enjoyment of gasoline and rubber. My daughters Shelby and Ella are a bit more reserved but round us out nicely.We love being outside whether it's on the river or in the woods.

I love getting to know each patient, and discovering how I can best help them with their dental needs. Each person is unique, and that means I have to learn about their life and oral health goals in order to find the home dental hygiene processes and productsthat are right for their situation. I take dental X-rays, clean patients teeth, and offer dental education to each person.

While I work with patients, I talk with them about the health of their mouth, and discuss their hobbies and habits. I enjoy interacting with patients and developing a treatment plan unique to each person. Having my patients understand the connection between oral health and total health is one of my top priorities. It makes my day when my patients leave with a fresh outlook on their homecare. In my spare time I love spending time my husband and sons.

I love working with our patients. Theyre all such wonderful people, and I enjoy hearing about each persons interests, hobbies, and their family. Those conversations are the highlight of my day. I help patients throughout their visit: I bringthem into the clinic area, preparethem for treatment, and providechairside support to the patient and doctor.

I love our patients and how different each person is. Because of that, no two days are the same and Im always learning something new. I develop great friendships with patients as I assist them during their visits. While our doctors are performing dental procedures, I sit chairside. I make sure our patient is comfortable and relaxed, and tell them what the doctor is doing.

Providing excellent care, giving my patients the confidence in their smiles along with a positive dental visit is what I strive to do for every one of my patients. Taking my job seriously is an important task for me. In doing so, I work chair side with the doctors assisting them with each procedure and providing knowledge to my patients to help educate them with the procedure at hand. In the future, I plan to gain great friendships with not only my coworkers but also with my patients. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of such a wonderful team at Cocalico Dental. When not providing my time at the office, I'm spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy sinking into a good book, walking with my dog, Hank, and spending time outdoors either at my family's beach house or at the cabin.

People are living longer than ever, and while regular brushing, flossing, and checkups allow many of us to maintain our natural smiles for a lifetime, sometimes our teeth just can't keep up. If you've lost a tooth (or a few teeth) due to injury or disease, dental implants can rejuvenate both your smile and your oral health.

An implant is a synthetic tooth root in the shape of a post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. The root is usually made of titanium: the same material used in many replacement hips and knees, and a metal that is well suited to pairing with human bone. A replacement tooth is then fixed to the post. The tooth can be either permanently attached or removable. Permanent teeth are more stable and feel more like natural teeth.

Implants are versatile. If you are only missing one tooth, one implant plus one replacement tooth will do the trick. If you are missing several teeth in a row, a few strategically placed implants can support a permanent bridge (a set of replacement teeth). Similarly, if you have lost all of your teeth, a full bridge or full denture can be permanently fixed in your mouth with a strategic number of implants.

Conventional bridges and dentures are not fixed to the bone, and can therefore be unstable. This can make it difficult to eat or smile with confidence. Implants not only look more natural, but feel and act more like normal teeth, with a stronger biting force. And because they don't directly rely on neighboring teeth for support, implants don't compromise the health of your natural teeth. In fact, bridges are only expected to last seven to ten years, even less with root canals, whereas implants typically last a lifetime.

Consider your replacement teeth to be the same as natural teeth. They require the same daily brushing and flossing, and the same amount of regular checkups. Just like your natural teeth, the better you take care of your replacements, the longer they will last.
